Party Anthem by Tsunamiz

Groovy beats, spicy rock, and hard-hitting lyricism are blended together to result in one juicy “Party Anthem.” This mix was seamlessly made by the genuine Portuguese talent Tsunamiz. Let’s dive into the dope, energy-boosting mixture.

Tsunamiz is the musical project of the witty musician Bruno Sobral. No matter what genre you’re into most, his music will appeal to you because you’ll find a dash of it in his infectious fusion. He knows how to make music that bursts with electronic power yet has a profound rock flair and wraps this harmonic texture with organic pop.

“Party Anthem” is the kind of song you hear when you need a physical and mental push. The song urges you to throw yourself a party while at the same time empowering you to claim your rights, don’t let others define you, and break free to where you’ll taste liberation and be the real you.

From intro to outro, all ingredients flow together in colorful waves, building an atmospheric aura that lures one in. The instrumentation carries the spirit of the lyricism, which is both carefree and rebellious. There’s no instrument overlapping the other; all are well-placed and working together perfectly, offering a proficient sonic euphoria of how Pop, EDM, and Rock could unite for one authentic sound. But I’ve got to admit that although the beats are vibrant and catchy and the synth and percussion are making a good-spirited duo, I’m a little biased towards the psychedelic hint and the solid, fiery guitar riffs and their capacity to take the track to another dimension.

The vocals indeed match the musicality and the lyrics’ energy, sounding both energizing and anthemic. Somehow, the raw vocal line will align with your current sentiments; if you want to dance, then the party will instantly start, but if you are irate by how people are trying to limit you, then it’s your invitation to sing along and get it all out.

The last ingredient, the salty olive to this lusty drink, is the minimalistic yet effective music video, which is directed by Realish’ Films, embodying the essence of the song and featuring Tsunamiz himself and a cool cat vibing. Also, this tasty sample is the second single to be released from Tsunamiz’s upcoming album, “Kultur Is Dead”, which will be dropped on September 23.

This single needs to be on your playlist because, every once in a while, you need a reminder that:

“No one can buy you.

Because you are free.

No one can show you.

The moves to your beat.”

bludnymph‘s musical spirit takes shape in the form of a mythological goddess. A young maiden that inhabits rivers and woods, feeding off the love of her mortal followers, she pulls them into a sense of security with her bludsongs. Baroque Pop for Introverts! Honey Gentry new single “Under Taurus”

0

It’s my pleasure to send you the new single from Honey Gentry. Creating baroque pop for introverts, her latest single “Under Taurus” shimmers with dreamy, echoing synths, layered vocals and a delicate piano line, delivering an overall celestial quality.

Honey Gentry‘s music has garnered millions of streams to date and has been supported by outlets including NME, Dork, Fred Perry Subculture and more.

Honey Gentry (ˈhʌni ˈʤɛntri) is an independent artist from London, UK. Creating baroque pop for introverts, Honey’s work explores themes including escapism, dreams, and mythology. Entirely self-produced and recorded from the comfort of her bedroom, the artist manages to capture a free, honest and totally personal experience with her DIY, homemade music.

Finding influence in the likes of artists such as Mazzy Star, Tori Amos and Lana Del Rey, Honey is inspired by musicians who would turn deeply personal and private experiences of teenage girlhood and young womanhood, into something intensely human and real.

Her latest single “Under Taurus” began as an ode to the poem of the same name by Louise Glück, which Honey first came across just before the poet won the Nobel Prize in Literature. The songwriter shares, “It reminded me of when I was a child in the countryside with my dad and he would wake me up on a clear night and we’d go outside and spot shooting stars. We’re always talking about space. But then as you get older, you lose your childlike ability to say things how you see them; because it makes another person happier if you see what they see. So the song was born out of that feeling of moulding yourself into another person’s desires in order to make them happy.”

Sonically, the single shimmers with dreamy, echoing synths, layered vocals and a delicate piano line, delivering an overall celestial quality.

“Under Taurus” is off of Honey’s upcoming EP, where listeners will find Space as a common theme throughout. She confides, “I think because that’s my preferred method of looking outward rather than inward; forwards instead of backwards.”

Honey Gentry‘s music has garnered millions of streams to date and has been supported by outlets including NME, BBC Radio Ulster, Dork, Fred Perry Subculture and more.

Alan Chang ‘ Infectious Jazz-juiced Pop from Acclaimed Pianist

0

The jazz-juiced pop track features a richly saturated musical palette and marks the beginning of a new era for Alan Chang. “Love As A Weapon” is the first single to drop following Chang’s decision to go solo, after serving as musical director, co-writer and pianist to Michael Bublé for nearly two decades.

Like bathrooms and kitchens, careers sometimes need a refresh, even if they’re comfortable and functional. Especially if they’re comfortable and functional. And if a milestone anniversary happens to be looming, tearing up those floorboards seems even more urgent. Just ask Alan Chang.

For 19 years, the California-born Chang served as musical director and pianist to Michael Bublé, a gig that sent the lifelong musician around the world on sold-out tours, performing massive hits like “Home” and “Haven’t Met You Yet” that he co-wrote for the superstar Canuck crooner. Yet as 2019 wound down and Chang’s 40th birthday approached, he began pondering possibilities beyond the orbit he’d occupied nearly half his life.

Now, he is unveiling his latest single, the gently propulsive and arpeggio’d “Love As a Weapon.” Finding its lead piano grafted onto an atypically up-front rhythm section anchored by bass legend Pino Palladio and drummer Tamir Barzilay, the track draws its eccentric lyrical imagery from Chang’s departure from the Bublé camp. Read into it what you will. “I wrote that song a few days after I told Michael I was quitting,” Chang offers. “It was almost like a partner asking for a divorce. Suddenly, all these… different feelings came up. That song is a form of therapy.”

The creation of his new music saw Chang working alongside his fiancé Alex Lilly, a singer-songwriter in her own right, as well as with producers Ryan Lerman (Scary Pockets, Lizzy McAlpine, Buble, Ben Folds, John Legend) and Adam Greenholtz.

This new release marks the beginning of a new era for Alan Chang and it’s one you’re going to want to be a part of.

“When Alan left me after nearly two decades, I swore off half-asian men forever. But after hearing Alan’s seminal track off his new album, I realized that in life, you dim sum, you lose some. I can’t wait for people to hear his music!” Michael Buble

The Weather Holds Exercises Caution in New Single “With the Heat, Move Slowly”

0

The Weather Holds is the latest project and supergroup formed by Montreal-based producer and composer Devon Bate whose career is rife with secret contributions to contemporary Canadian music, theatre, and dance.

As the producer behind JUNO Award and Polaris Prize winning albums for artists such as Jeremy Dutcher and Jean-Michel Blais, Devon has built friendships and relationships that have shaped his compositional voice. He partnered with artist Julia Milz to direct the music video for new single “With the Heat, Move Slowly” who “interpreted, and understood, the song so intimately.” The Weather Holds is fundamentally about recognizing those connections, bringing disparate worlds of Canadian indie and contemporary classical music together, grounded in prairie soil and nourished with a Montrealaise spirit of experimentation.

Devon prefaces “With the Heat, Move Slowly,” advising that “if it feels like you have the ability to see into the future, and you don’t like what you see, sometimes it’s best just to stop looking – if we’re heading towards something bad, let’s head towards it slowly.”

Forthcoming debut LP (out May 20th), You Couldn’t Ask For a More Beautiful Day, is a precarious return to his folk roots with the electroacoustic influences of his musical training: a nostalgic remembrance of busking in Winnipeg, the careful curation of CDs on bus rides, and fog-ridden memories that sound like experimental country but smell like forest fire smoke.

Brasstracks drop “Indigo” & announce album – June 2nd!

0

Brasstracks is the Grammy award winning project of New York based musician and producer Ivan Jackson. Over the years, Brasstracks has evolved into an ever-morphing landscape where Jackson sets the framework.

The Brasstracks rap sheet runs for miles. The group scored two GRAMMY wins for their production work on Chance The Rapper’s seminal “No Problems” in 2017 (Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album). They’ve also since been nominated for their work with Harry Styles during the 2021 GRAMMYs for Best Pop Vocal Album, ultimately taking home the Best Pop Solo Performance award for their work on “Watermelon Sugar.”

Brasstracks has appeared on Saturday Night Live, performing alongside Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles and Mark Ronson. Other collaborations include Anderson .Paak, Khalid, Mac Miller, and BTS. Brasstracks has also performed songs from their debut album on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

The new Brasstracks era sees Jackson as an architect for this larger project of incubating artists and allowing them the space to grow.

Following the release of “Anesthesia” featuring Mandy Lee of MisterWives, Brasstracks unveils the title-track from the upcoming album. The relatable “Indigo” speaks about not being a morning person and sets the tone for the rest of the album’s theme about the double edged sword of being a night owl. Jackson shares, “I’m not good in the mornings, but I’ve always been productive in the evening. My productive evenings turned into productive late nights, which turned into productive early mornings. I remember waking up when the sun was going down for most of the winter. I thought nothing of it. My managers, my collaborators, my peers- everyone had more equilibrium than me. I looked at that like my superpower. If you know me, you know not to call me in the morning. “Wake me up when the sky’s more Indigo.” I knew I had the album concept on my hands. My nocturnal super powers.”

Sonically, “Indigo” is fun and playful, with its honest and relatable lyrics creating the ultimate sing-along anthem.

Indigo is a unique addition to the Brasstracks catalog: brimming with technical wizardry and maximal, brassy bombast, but intensely personal, rife with self-loathing and heartache. The album’s undeniable joyousness stands in unflinching contrast with its subject matter. At the end of it all, Indigo’s ethos is a shimmering, groovy, soulful house record about, above all else, jealousy.

Garnering an incredible amount of accolades, Brasstracks continues to be a trailblazer this 2023. Indigo is slated for release June 2nd.

Cali Sand by Nick Lovely

0

There’s a kind of yearning that only immigrants and travellers know about, which is missing their hometown and how everything there made them feel, whether it was serenity or bustle, hot or cold weather, or friendly or firm people, because it’s not about all of that; it’s about a feeling of belonging. In his single “Cali Sand,” Nick Lovely portrays love and longing for California through an upbeat rhythm and an emotional performance.

Nick Lovely is a one-man show! He has a whole package of talents, and he aces them all. A director, writer, and light painter in addition to the ability to execute fine pieces of music, like “Cali Sand” here.

“Cali Sand” carries the characteristics of Nick Lovely. You can hear and feel the cinematic ambiance and the colors in the nuances here and there, and you can also be immersed in the witty writing that paints quite a picture of the artist’s nostalgia and huge desire to go back to California. Even the song’s artwork showcases Nick Lovely’s versatile artistry.

The single’s theme is melancholic, but the Hong Kong-based artist managed to give it a vibrant spirit with its bright musicality, adding a dramatic flavor with the poignant key notes. The pop song features bouncy electronic elements and engaging dance touches that make the beat wash away any sadness. Nevertheless, the vocals keep the balance between the vulnerable sentiments and the lush instrumentation.

This is an organic piece that deserves appreciation. Nick Lovely is a multitalented artist who knows how to show what he has up his sleeves in a musical piece.

Somersaults by Sweeter than Sorrow

Sweeter than Sorrow, the musical project of Swedish singer/songwriter Mattias Wahlberg, has just released his fourth and latest single “Somersaults” on April 28th. Following his debut single “Like Water Is Flowing” in August 2021 and two subsequent releases, Mattias has garnered over 630k streams on Spotify.

Described by Mattias himself, “Somersaults” draws inspiration from turbulent times, finding solace in dreams and strength in love. With the collaboration of Jonas Franke-Blom on various instruments including guitar, cello, contrabass, theremin, lap steel, and backing vocals, they deliver an emotional and heartwarming song.

The track begins with a cozy piano line, setting the perfect atmosphere for Mattias’ warm and expressive vocals. As the song progresses melodic vocal harmonies join in, adding to the emotional depth of the song. The second verse introduces soft acoustic guitar and melodic lap steel, building up to a euphoric chorus featuring a rich ensemble of vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, cello, contrabass, piano, and lap steel.

A poignant interlude shines the light on the theremin with a nostalgic and beautiful short solo before culminating in the final chorus. “Somersaults” is a well-produced and crafted song that unfolds progressively, highlighting Mattias’ songwriting skills, creativity, and captivating voice.

Don’t miss the opportunity to experience “Somersaults” by Sweeter than Sorrow, a heartfelt musical journey.

Album: Lenses by Dead, Dead Swans

Dead, Dead Swans is a project where every element and every note feels completely organic. The project is a mix of folk and country that had previously only released one EP before the latest offering: a full-length album by the name of “Lenses”. Ok this record, John E. Swan collaborates with many other musicians on this very ambitious record. Let’s dive deep into this album and see what it’s all about.

The album begins with the soft and somber track, “Wait Up“, which feels like it came straight out of a movie. It has a beautiful vocal line that’s focused on storytelling, and Jake makes amazing transitions from chest voice to head voice to make things sound cool and emotional the entire time. The chord progression and the percussion are beautiful and complement each other well. The second track, “Civil Not Mutual“, has a bit of a slower tempo which builds up to the harmonica section in the middle of it. What I love about this song is how it didn’t overstay its welcome. Advice has only a guitar and vocals, which had much more emotional weight and delivered the vocal lines more accurately and expressively. Following this is the Interlude in A# which has a very cool use of the fiddle and the additional percussion sounds that are a guest star of the album at this point. Bobby Pins is a more emotional and slower track. The vocals are soulful and heavy here. I really love how John sounds like he’s weeping at many of the closing parts of his lines. The fiddle here once again sounds like a film score, the way they mixed it in the background makes it all the more epic.

The sixth track, “Hard To Say” has a very emotional chord progression on the banjo which intertwines with equally emotional vocals too. Some of the same ideas are repeated on “That Which Will Eventually Kill Me” except for the vocals being more soulful and gritty this time. It’s amazing to hear John sing with some distortion and rasp that makes for an edgy and full-of-attitude performance. After that, we have “Toys“, a 1-minute interlude with some ambient sounds that instill a feeling of childhood nostalgia and actual “toys” rattling. “Water’s Muddy” has the best arrangement and song structure…and it’s my favorite song on the album by a longshot. The second to last track, “Are You O.K” is another masterful folky number that feels so traditional and so laid back that you will love to sing along to its beautiful and clear melody. The album closes with “Used To You“, which only features the vocals and a beautiful and highly emotional chord progression that transfers you into that coffee shop/pub feeling once again. This is one of those “less is more” tracks because of the emotional weight it has by only having such a simple instrumentation.

In conclusion, this album is varied and features elements of folk, Americana, and country…with the folk parts dominating slightly over the other influences. I really have to highlight how I felt so many emotions with the soulful singing and the multitude of instruments but the opening and closing track had some of the most straightforward arrangements. Such organization and presentation of the featured artists and their contributions to the album made everything much more enjoyable and no instrument or element overstayed its welcome…a total 10/10 record that I recommend.

Love You More by Kristina Lachaga

“Love You More” is a song that pop singer-songwriter Kristina Lachaga wrote spontaneously and easily to describe an ever-growing love that increases day by day. The way the song is fluid and easy to follow speaks volumes of how great of a writer Kristina is. Let’s go into some details…

The song is relatively short (just twenty seconds shy of being 3 minutes), but that’s a means of showing its message and emphasizing the emotional delivery.

The song begins with a soft and uplifting acoustic guitar chord progression, followed by Kristina’s amazing vocals. She sings her lines softly in an airy, breathy, and super romantic way. It’s rare to find a love song that sounds as sincere and touching as this one. The song slowly gains some pace and energy but remains soft and somber throughout its length.

Kristina’s voice has a very characteristic color and a bright tone. The way she moves between the register and makes them all feel connected and full is beyond me…I love her technique and feeling. I recommend this song to anyone who thinks that no more good love songs exist anymore…I’m sure this’ll change your mind.
