Mad Woman by Moana A

0

Over the ages, women’s powers have been intimidating to some. A brave man would be called a warrior, but if the same goes for a woman, she’d be called a witch. Moana A is offering the tale from a bold femme perspective with a sultry delivery in “Mad Woman.”

“Mad Woman” is an influential anthem resulting from the musical rituals made by Moana A, Kendra Dantes, Dennis P. Coronel, and producer Soulplusmind. They’ve all worked closely to give us a significant message through an edgy narrative, a cinematic sonic landscape, and a ravishing, lusty vocal performance.

Peppy synth tones set a mystical ambiance for the song’s opening. The duet vocals have an owning-the-roam attitude. They both carry the song’s fiery vibe in their silky yet banging voices. The bold, unapologetic lyrics make sure to draw a precise picture of a warrior goddess that simulates every woman out there. And the vocals nail it to convey the energy lying within the lyrics.

Not only do the singers’ vocals mash well together, but also the musical composition plays its key role in blending with the vocal performance and in giving the desired mood in each verse: the dynamic, the playful, and the dark twist. It lures you into the wicked scene and gets you hypnotized by the soft power that can be fatal whenever it wants.

The artwork of the single is perfectly fitting and allows your imagination to delve into the story and see this warrior doing wonders and rising.

Moana A has been featured in famous TV series like Riverdale and Lucifer, and now she’s taking this dark aura to influence people in her own distinct way.

Lost Souls by KJ Hand

0

In a day and age where almost everybody can easily write and release new music, with minimal means and to a quality that improves by the day, it takes a special talent to stand out.

‘Lost Souls’ is the debut single of KJ Hand. Based in the Midlands, Kev has toured Europe with his band ‘Yeah Jazz’, so naturally, he’s not a fresh face to music, having been at it since his school days. This experience surely gained him sensibilities that show up in excess over his debut single.

‘Lost Souls’ is a heart-wrenching ballad about unrequited love. Piano-driven with the predictable syrupy melancholy in the words, and the music. What sets this song from the countless others is how tastefully everything is done, and how the details are added with a mathematician’s precision, ending up totally elevating the song to a whole different league. The piano, for a start, is a honky-tonk upright-sounding one, deliciously warm and trebly, with elegant reverb that allows it to truly take over and shine along with the beautifully melodic vocals and the heartfelt words. Kev doesn’t have the finest vocal texture, but he more than makes up for it by delivering every word from the depths of his soul. Perhaps this song is a little personal for Mr. Hand, or he’s just a very talented performer.

The addition of the choir was absolutely joyful. Singing beautiful harmonies that fade out as suddenly as they fade in, elevating the senses then leaving them wanting for more. The guitars are also used quite elegantly, wailing atmospherically at parts and playing crystalline and huge chords at others, and both to great effect.

‘Lost Soul’ might be a simple song in concept, but not in execution. Kev shows that superpower that music has, in that it’s a well that will never run dry. Provided that you have the heart to pour out your feelings on the recording, the most cliched musical ideas will readily bloom in your hands.

CODE by Amanda Holley

Rising above the norm on topics that have been covered endless times is a hard challenge, but Amanda Holley kills it with ease in her single, “CODE,” as she creatively flexes her femme power.

Straight out of New York City, Amanda Holley is being a voice for all the women out there who have been unwillingly silent and have accepted abuse of any kind, in her single, “CODE,” which was released on the 30th of June this year.

“CODE” is igniting a bold move with its iconic message, which is to “live by the code,” as Amanda Holley is unleashing her musical prowess to empower women to stand up for themselves, own themselves, and live as powerful queens.

The rebelling, confident lyricism is not the only element that is building the badass atmosphere and sending the explicit, unapologetic message; rather, all of the elements are seamlessly combined together to give the proper solid vibe and encourage every female to lay down the law.

In a brilliant manner, the vocals are playing good-cop, and bad-cop, as they’re widely ranged and own both attitudes of delicacy and power. Holley’s velvety yet edgy tone and trap style with a Soul flavor make for an exquisite performance.

The coherent blend of Pop, Hip-Hop, and R&B results in a soulful yet fiery sound. The arrangement definitely supports the vocals and serves to set the desired mood. The gifted artist co-wrote it with Davis Chris and Cecily Wagner, and Davis Chris also crafted the dope production. It was nice and added credibility to see a female-empowering product being made with the help of skilled men in various places.

Amanda Holley’s knack is not only demonstrated in the song. What makes the delivered message stand out is the creative music video, which has a sequenced storyline and a fun twist. The video features the actors Mitchie Elder, Kelsey Smoot, Jenna Keefner, Joseph Calinda, Travis Duncan, and the director, Louie Gooey. It’s a pleasant one to watch, and I don’t want to spoil its details and plot. What I could spell is that there’s a line in the lyrics that says, “I’m trying to sparkle like a diamond,” and in the video, there’s a magical diamond that turns the roles upside down as it makes the inner, dominating self takes control.

I will be stating the obvious when I say Amanda Holley is an artist who gives intense care to all the details and is committed to offering polished work and that you’ll enjoy watching the video below and rooting for this skilled musician.

Lemon Tart by dilip

Lemon Tart by Dilip is one of those songs which borrow elements from various genres. Whereas the verses feel slow and remind me of RnB, the chorus has a nice rock tone on the guitar. I love how the vocals were consistent but at the same time malleable enough to fit both these styles.

After the second chorus, there was a sudden transition into a bridge that had a different melody and style, and as it progressed it somehow managed to merge into the chorus one last time. I was stunned by how this change didn’t affect the chorus melody but rather made it very rich.

While most young singer-songwriters like to play it safe and use conventional song structures nowadays, what we are presented with here was a lot more daring and creative. I feel like Dilip can bridge the gap between RnB and Rock and I would love to hear a full record where he presents more pieces of that sort.

Her Shadow in the Flame by Matyascorvinus

A poetic mind with rich musicality, passion, and an abundance of creativity are just a few ways I can describe Matyascorvinus. Once you see his name, you can know, for a fact, that the music will be remarkable and profound with a powerful message and originality like no other.

The Finnish artist just dropped his latest release, “Her Shadow in the Flame”; I was expecting a nature-inspired instrumental track as this is where he mostly gets inspiration from, yet the song’s title sounded much more intense, with a hidden meaning. Initially, the song was intended to be a commissioned cover piece for one of the artist’s favorite songs, “Hopkins (The Witchfinder General) by Cathedral, which was canceled and later developed into this original astounding piece.

The artist sticks to his style of playing with the “Augmented Ukulele” technique as he refers to it. His music has dreamy melodies, smooth flowing ambiance, and elaborate broken arpeggios, leaving you captivated in its essence. But beneath all that, you will always find a hidden element of sorrow and darkness overshadowing the overall mood.

The story of this track is inspired by the witchcraft and inquisition era, about “unjustified violence against defenseless human beings, a war on women.” as the artist refers to it. Fast forward hundreds of years later, he could see how history repeats itself with what’s happening currently in Ukraine. With this song, he develops a sense of longing for loved ones who have gone missing and wishes for a better tomorrow. As always, Matyas surprises us with the most alluring stories and poetic meanings behind his music, simply never a dull moment with this artist.

Dystopia by Manoel

After a 10-year hiatus, Manoel returns to the music scene with a new single and a fresh perspective that’ll take you on quite the journey. Manoel has been in the music industry since the late 80s as a remarkable DJ, his musical influences and style developed from different genres and artists he came across along his 20-year journey. From the 90s music to the modern electronic sounds, and artists like Hidden Orchestra, Bonobo, Kiasmos, Massive Attack, and Kollektiv Turmstrasse, among others. The artist has a long list of successful releases and tracks dating from 2005 under his previous name “Djazzy” like “Senti Sabi”, “The Look in Your Eyes” and, “Horns from Heaven”.

The Portugal-based producer just released “Dystopia”; an instrumental track with different themes and variations that takes you on a visualized journey through sound. The track has a cinematic, hypnotic approach which is a fresh sound for the artist. It appears simple at first but then it smoothly lures you into its various transitions. New elements and sound effects are introduced every now and then, building up towards something as if it’s telling a story of its own till it all fades out. The song was created, mixed, and mastered by the artist himself in his studio. We surely can’t wait to see what Manoel releases next!

Tandem by Three Armed Bandit

1

From the isolation of a lonesome Californian mountain cabin comes a characterful folk anthem with a sweet message and deep musicality.

Three-Armed Bandit sings of fighting… yes, fighting. More specifically, fighting with someone you sincerely care for. The pain that this might bring and the hidden blessings of such pain. Three-Armed Bandit thinks that not only is this fighting a sign of goodwill and of deep-rooted affection, but also that it’s something that should be actively pursued by couples, as he memorably sings “We’ll keep on fighting.”

Musically the song is a pure singer-songwriter affair, literally, it’s just an acoustic along with the deep baritone voice. Do not underestimate it though, the guitarwork is neatly arranged, dynamic, playful, and never settled. Moving from open strums to percussive, muted hits within the length of a phrase to play along with the words, augmenting the meaning, and the feeling of them.

A nice, pleasant little cut, simple, but nuanced and active, with a deep, distinctive voice that pulls it along further down the road of folky goodness.

Barium by Prime Sinister

0

British singer-songwriter Prime Sinister is releasing his powerful new single “Barium”, the first from his second album, “Long Live Syllablism,” which is expected to be released soon.

Featuring a solid texture and a dark, cinematic feel, the new self-produced song is swayed by piano keys and drums that match the rapper’s unique flow and singing style that leaves a great sound effect swirling in your ears.

This rising 26-year-old artist on the UK hip-hop scene showcases his incredible lyrical feeling with his talent for writing songs that rely on astonishing and complex wordplay.

“Barium” has a hypnotic rhyme that appears in the use of syllables to rhyme, and in each word, it is consonant with the word preceding it. Through this creative approach, the story is told in an upward flow from the beginning, drawing you into an alternate, hollow, dark space.

The song was mixed and mastered by Thomas Cullison, of Kayne West and Pharrell fame. In approximately 4 minutes, the Prime Sinister establishes a musical connection with you, and you find yourself moving your body and subconsciously reciting the words behind it.

This wonderful and highly talented artist can lead us to different and diverse areas of the world of hip hop and rap, but with his distinctive flavor and magical imprint, so we are waiting for what is new from him.

Following his success streak, Dorian releases a new music video for “Proud” directed by Mike Traum & ShootersMediaGroup. The song was initially released three months ago as part of his album “The Arrival: Dream World pt.2”. In such a short time, the song reached over 25K streams on Spotify only. It’s hard not to get caught up with the song’s melody and its catchy musical structure. Although it’s hard to come up with an original idea for pop and R&B songs, Dorian always finds a way to easily lure you in and get you caught up with his music. In less than a month, the music video reached over 61K views on YouTube and is increasing daily. The video is simple in context and was shot in a beautiful spot by the beach, which is a perfect depiction of romance and raw, honest emotions.
