If It Lasts (feat. Sterling Duns) by Joe Kenney

0

Artist Joe Kenney released a bubbly and emotional song called ‘If it lasts’, featuring Sterling Duns, on the 26th of October, from Phoenixville, US. Joe is an award-winning recording artist and pianist from Philadelphia. His success reaches a broad range of genres including hip-hop, new soul, and classical music. This is the second interaction of Kenney’s original work.

This is song is stunningly beautiful and sophisticated because of its’ musical soundscape and diverse vocals. It feels like a song you would hear in a Disney Movie. The idea of the song speaks about relationship struggles, and the song originally has a duet of Elle Gyandoh and Murphy Bug, with Dun’s vocals as the new layer of vocals. The overall sound of the song feels like a piece of classical music for a theater or a fantasy princess film, with a unique spicey hip hop and R&B fusion that takes this song to a much wider creative scope of things. The vocals of the three singers are so strong and emotive as they tell us the story of struggle, The bars in the rap vocals are slow, and the song as a whole is slow rhythm paced. Joe also uses a theme by Beethoven as a reharmonization of the song. The musical composition is rich, starting with a melancholic guitar melody that is slow and unravels to heavy cymbal usage, magical harp sound effects, and whimsical piano. You can blast this in a car or even slow dance to it!

TMH by Echezona

0

With a beat that slaps the sleep out of your eyes, Boston, US-based rapper and hip-hop artist Echezona released a fire song called ‘TMH’ on the 7th of October. Echezona is a multilingual rapper, who views himself as a ‘Kid of the immigrants’. He grew up with a blend of cultures in his veins, as he is a son of Africa with Nigerian origins and an American upbringing. Echezona best describes his style as a musical bed of hip-hop and afrobeat rhythms. He works with producer JPRIZM, and his most famous song ‘Galileo’, is featured in EA sports 2k basketball games.

Energetic and hyped up, 22-year-old Echezona raps from the core of his soul in this song, with so much strength and anger. This song talks about people who try to box you in, thinking they can tell you who you are. It’s for the people who hate being stereotyped. The catchphrase of this song is ‘How you gon’ tell me about me?’. With that vibe in mind, the song’s overall sound is hype and hard-hitting. There are so many emotions being displayed, with speedy bar spitting and a fast rhythm. The musical arrangement is dynamic, with a lot of hard bass, kick and snare, and a sound effect that is a mix of piano and xylophones that makes a playful melody.

A notable sound is an alarm used to shock us in the beat. This a great song to bring your senses to alert mode!

Emily by Hyde Away

0

Indie Alt band Hyde Away from Bishops Stortford, UK, successfully sucks us into the pre-winter warm, emotive mood with their new rock pop single ‘Emily’ released on October 14th. With this new track, the band has officially established their musicality in the same, backed by a recent gig at the junction in Cambridge. Hyde away has had previous releases that made it to press headlines like Deliver and Mutual, there’s so much to expect from this band with their gentle and heartwarming tunes.

We’re all suckers for a song about a girl, no matter who and where you are, you will never be short of an emotional coincidence with music written about a certain somebody, and this is what Hyde Away offers us with this tune. It’s a swirl of sweet pain and joy as you listen to Emily. It’s a song written in first person about someone who has found that their lover is more into their friends. This song feels like a foggy cold day in a park with the sun slightly peeking out of one of the clouds. Although this song smells of heartbreak the overall sound is cozy and mellow and the undertone mood is light and fluffy. The musical arrangement is rich starting with a soft rock soundscape that is slow and slightly builds a more intense tune as the vocalists sing more about his pain. The rhythm is medium paced, guided by a melancholic guitar melody, drums and cymbals, and a lot of drum rolls as the track transitions. A notable sound is the backing vocals with lyrics that give the track more texture and makes you want to sing along! A truly sweet reflection of heartbreak put into sound.

Medicinal by Oneo Fakind

0

Sonic pleasure is the only way to describe Oneo Fakind’s latest drop on the 20th of October called ‘Medicinal’. The duo is from Toronto, Canada, and serves us a real electronic handpicked taste in sound. The duo describes itself as an eveletic electronic experience. Formed in 2017, the artists like to fuse ambient and psychedelic electronics with hip-hop and trap, with their projects pushing listeners to share their darkest secrets.

Starstruck is an understatement when it comes to this track. Medicinal is a song that opens up a portal into the sweetness of unfamiliarity and creativity. The song is so sonically rich, it feels like a million genres sewn into one custom-made, dark and glittery gown by aliens! The overall sound of the song is dark, mysterious, and packed with drama.

It feels like a song you can play during a space race among infinite light and planets. The soundscape is a dark ethereal one with an undertone of daunting darkness. The sound is a mix of slow and fast rhythms with a sonic melody that tingles your senses and touches your soul in its deepest part. The musical arrangement is astoundingly rich, with a lot of gradual introductions to different instruments and sounds including a lot of drums and cymbals. There are a lot of thunderstorm sound effects, trashy metallic sounds, some sorrowful and magical violin, and a hard-hitting slow coming up in the song. A perfect intense galactic journey into the world of infinite sonic possibility!

You Should Find A New Boyfriend by Livtar

0

The Connecticut-based trio Livtar started teasing their upcoming record “Eloquently Aimless”  with the release of their new rocking single “You Should Find A New Boyfriend” on the 28th of October 2022, being lifelong friends shows clearly in their shining chemistry and perfect harmony in “You Should Find A New Boyfriend” that I believe was the perfect choice to get fans pretty excited about the record, at least I am! Let me tell you why right now.

With a softly building-up poppy, filled-with-anticipation intro, Livtar’s “You Should Find A New Boyfriend” starts, I loved the subtle creeping-in bass line and its smooth conversation with the drums creating a perfect and in-mood groove. “You Should Find A New Boyfriend” impressively comes in as a light pop tune with a touch of indie rock groove and swaying deep melodies, until it explodes into a heavy intense interlude with a thick riff and jazzy interesting drumming, in a way that even surprised a die-hard metal fan like myself! Livtar’s musicianship and writing skills shine in the way they handled that shift, they didn’t overdo it instead, they smoothly steered into a middle-ground with rocking roots and groove while keeping the pop approachable melody alive leading to a bigger sound and outro.

I believe “You Should Find A New Boyfriend” can take Livtar REALLY FAR! It has all the qualities of a hit song from punching hooks to fluid melodies, catchy grooves, haunting vocal melody, and above all good songwriting, those guys really know their sound and the direction they are heading, and I love that. Will definitely be keeping an eye on Livtar, looking forward to more, cheers!

Reveries In Grey by Vishal Naidu

0

With notes that speak louder than words and a guitar hero attitude comes guitarist Vishal Naidu with his latest single “Reveries In Grey”, offering a classic folky experience with swinging emotions and deep layers, let me tell you more about it

Vishal Naidu’s “Reveries In Grey” takes us on a smooth journey through the dark melancholic realms he created towards a fading light right on the horizon. Using his guitar and obvious sense of melodies and dynamics, Naidu slowly and carefully crafts his notes and chords arrangements, and while swinging between arpeggios, chords, and classic soloing, he managed to create a progressive changing structure with a dynamic seamless flow of beautiful, dark heartfelt melodies that speaks for itself with no words needed. Vishal Naidu’s guitar skills are undeniable but, the way he uses those skills within his well-calculated tempos and moods alongside his unique writing is what made this a magnificent piece.

“Reveries In Grey” is a mellow piece with really dark vibes and smooth bright glimpses that keep on taking turns in an organic life-like form that kept it real and emotionally relatable. I loved Naidu’s arrangements and how he used violins to hit that emotional spot at the perfect timing, shows maturity and a sense of mood. Looking forward to more from Vishal Naidu, worth checking out guys, cheers!

Album: Aerial Cuts by Sebastian Clarin

0

Artist Sebastian Clarin based in Stockholm, Sweden, drops a magnificent electronically delicious album that will lure you into his dark fantasy world on the 21st of October. Made of 9 tracks, this album was produced by Henrick B. Originally heavily inspired by the techniques of the singing and songwriting of artists such as Leonard Cohen, the golden voice, and Leonard Nick caves, Clarin makes synthpop. He creates the same kind of stories as the previously mentioned artists, but with a radical difference in the soundscape by creating a much more modern and electronically based atmosphere. Mashing singing and music from the east and the west,  Clarin made a name for himself after releasing the initial three singles before the album release itself, making room for himself in the international blogosphere with critical acclaim.

The music with the vocals in this album transport you to a fantasy realm, it feels like you’re listening to a record a vampire would enjoy within the gloomy corners of its fancy and creepy castle. The moment you start listening to this album, you will be sucked into a universe standing on its own, suspended in a space of drab magic. Ariel Cut is exciting, delightful, and mysterious. You can’t really tell how you’re feeling with each track but you’re feeling everything in a dark but luminescent way. It seems that the album speaks of interrelated topics on the self, pain, evil, and tragedy through encounters with yourself, someone else, and the world. The overall sound of the album is a rich, spacey, and smokey drama. There are a lot of thrashy sound effects and it gives off an eerie vibe and draws from heavy industrial electronic music with a huge influence from the 80s and 90s electronic music. The musical arrangement is a lot to take in, with the main usage of a dark, hypnotic synth soundscape. Some of the tracks also use magical, sometimes spooky-sounding soundscapes with an undertone of the orchestral sound of female vocals, sometimes even alien sounds. Some of the noticeable instruments are some light drums and cymbals sound effects, but most of the sounds are layered sonic textures. The vocals of Clarin are influenced by Cohan, with deep, rich, and seductive vocal tones that also feel like there is a yearning in his voice. We also enjoy a wide range of transitions from vocals and lyrics to just our instrumental sounds in most of the tracks, so we get the best of both worlds!

The order of the songs doesn’t seem to have a particular pattern in their names but it is rather a collection of emotions translated into images ‘Teeth’ and encounters ‘Above us, the waning moon,  that keep descending deeper into the meanings of the emotions conveyed. It’s a mesmerizing album with an experience that resembles traveling through a void of darkness splattered with stars.

The Thing About Love by Phoenix Rose

0

London, UK-based singer/ songwriter Pheonix Rose has come back with more passion than ever with her latest new pop single, “The thing about love”, on the 18th of October. Rose believes music is the best way to tell stories, which are disappearing amidst the endless technological noise in our current world. She defines her music with a broad niche of remarkable people, such as the misfits, the outcasts, the heartbroken, the disconnected, and the survivors. After some of her other recent releases, she collected a lot of high praise from industry professionals and was able to make it to grand venues to perform including Kiss 100 Music Cube, the O2, and  South Central Festival.

Speaking of the story of love as a shapeless form and a gift from the universe, this isn’t your average pop song when it comes to the kind of musical composition and singing techniques. The song is put together in a highly artistic way, giving off a tone of sophistication you wouldn’t normally feel in today’s pop styles. The song’s idea is about love, and Rose thinks that it is usually easily tarnished because of trauma, abandonment, and heartache. It’s totally true, and with this song, Rose was able to show and make us feel love through an angle of higher ground.

The overall sound of the song is enlightening and spiritual in a sense. It feels like you’ve taken a ride over the back of a big bird. The lyrics include a lot of beautiful imagery and expressions of love. Rose’s vocals are sharp yet soft, strong yet vulnerable. A totally captivating mix! She also uses a lot of high pitch tones in a smooth, magnificent manner. The musical arrangement is brought to us with so much style, with a rich, dreamy soundscape that makes you feel like you’re soaring through the sky. Something feels nostalgic about this kind of pop music. The rhythm is slow and peaceful, taking you one step at a time in the emotional journey. The beat is steady all the way, with an arrangement of piano and drums and the occasional cymbals. We’re totally in love!

Depression by Dax

0

Artist and Rapper Dax released a new song called ‘Depression’, on the 21st of October all the way from Wichita, US. With an already huge fanbase and a subscription of 4M, this song harbored a total listening of 1.7 million people on youtube. He notes that this song is a personal one and hopes that people would share it to continue trying to make a positive impact, saying somebody out there will need it. Dax is a solo artist who started his musical career by writing rhymes and performing spoken word poetry during his college years. One of his achievements is making an appearance at the Canadian country music awards. Drawing from his personal experience, this song was creatively thought out beforehand. Dax mentions that this project was inspired by the feelings he got after quitting alcohol. He purposely withheld from finishing the lyrics in hopes that his feelings might change over time. His message is that there is hope.

Depression is a song that gives away the content from its name. This song is about the ups and downs of life’s journey. It talks about losing, being lost, faith and resilience. The mood of the song is sorrowful from a vulnerability standpoint, yet this notion is simultaneously counteracted by motivation and encouragement to face your demons. The overall sound of the song is intensely emotional and moving. It’s considered a difficult topic. The rhythm is slow-paced, light, and very acoustic. The soundscape is a hip-hop base with the guitar sound effect guiding the melancholic melody. The musical arrangement isn’t too complex, with some light drum and clapping sound effects steady through the beat. Dax’s vocals are smooth and filled with strength. Although this song is considered hip-hop, Dax sings his bars more than he raps, giving the song a new edge to the rap and hip-hop voice. He still keeps the rhymes and wordplay but sings painfully and slowly instead of hitting us straight bar after bar, which serves the emotional purpose of this song. We are in need of some deep breaths before we sit in the silence of contemplation on this heavy subject delivered so passionately by Dax.
