Rocketship by Alexa Perez

0

Alexa Perez returns with a fourth single to follow the success of her previous three. The melancholically hopeful, hopelessly romantic ‘Rocketship’ sees the songstress weave a fantastical love story that sends us soaring into outer space.

Based in Huntsville, Alabama, Alexa Perez is a singer and a songwriter whose indie pop tunes are consistently cohesive and delightfully punchy. Utilizing crystal clear production makes Perez’s music sound pristine and adds an element of immersion to her already compelling songs and lyrics. ‘Rocketship’ starts by introducing its punchy backbone beat supported by a brooding synth bass groove before Alexa’s voice breaks in. Her genial delivery on the relatively chilled verses makes them genuinely pulling, and her melodic delivery of the chorus melody and the song’s most memorable line “as the world keeps on turning, will you keep on turning” creates a distinct contrast between the two parts.

The stunning production, with its impressive layering of Alexa’s voice parts, and its choice of synths, calculated compressions, and very neat output, all make ‘Rocketship’ a truly gorgeous song to be heard on nice, loud headphones. Not to mention the stirring lyrics, Alexa’s bittersweet chords and soulful melodies, or the song’s rich pop arrangement. There is nothing to fault with Alexa Perez’s anticipated fourth single.

Fool by MELANIE PIERCE

0

Detroit-based artist Melanie Pierce is releasing a very emotional acoustic experience that feels like a movie in the form of her upcoming song “Fool”…with very strong storytelling approaches, both musically and lyrically, Melanie captures our souls…

Melanie has been releasing music for a little more than 3 years…and now focusing on releasing her second single off of her new EP which will be coming out in October…

…the new single is “Fool” and will be released on the first day of September of this year.

“Fool” is an indie/folk musical and lyrical experience that has so many catchy melodic lines, musical progressions, and beats…

Melanie managed to capture the rawness of all musical instruments and her vocals in a super clean-sounding recording…this is very interesting for the ears…how did they manage to take the raw feel of the music, but make it sound super clean, but then again it still oozes of an indie folk experience?

…hats off to all who worked on making this happen.

According to the artist herself, Melanie Pierce describes “Fool” as…

…was written about being encapsulated by a deep core knowledge and an extraordinary love/compatibility with all of the lustful feelings associated with that…

Couldn’t have said it any better.

Melanie, you captured our hearts, such an extraordinary experience…we can’t wait to hear the full EP when it comes out in October.

Wishing you all the best in life.

Cheers!

EP: Respire by Jay Wood

0

From seemingly insurmountable calamity to a triumph of musical expression, we have Jay Wood’s brand-new EP, Respire. A direct to heart affair of warm folk that showcases the inspirational trip of its artist.

Based in the Western Australian town of Perth, Jay Wood is a singer and songwriter who refused to be defined by ill circumstances that threatened to limit her musical and lyrical prowess when a drunk driver had her involved in a life altering accident that left her with traumatic brain injury at 24 years old. Setting on a journey of self-discovery, Jay Wood slowly recovered and, along the journey, managed to get the hang of writing affable folk tunes that please and inspire, while maintaining a certain grace and eloquence, and the result is the Respire EP.

After a pair of successful singles, ‘Oh Well’ and ‘Initial Pulse’, the EP is here to prove that Jay Wood is more capable than just dropping a pair of attractive singles, because the 5 songs on the EP are equally stirring and well crafted. Starting the EP with the effervescent ‘Oh Well’, a song that capably demonstrates Joy Wood’s songwriting style and her production direction, we find a tune that’s intimate, courtesy of a roomy and tight mix, and accessible, courtesy of charming oohs and aahs, a playful ukulele part, and Wood’s witty lyrics. ‘Initial Pulse’ follows, and for the first cut’s playfulness we have bittersweet melodies and ethereal vocal pads instead. A song that showcases Wood’s genial vocal talent in a touching chorus performance of a beautifully composed melody, we are in the presence of a capable singer whose timbre works exceedingly well in the warm and roomy folk setting that she is creating for herself, a hallmark of an artist who knows exactly what makes her shine (the extended version gives us more of that chorus goodness than the radio edit).

‘James Dean’ features Jay Wood’s compositional prowess. Weaving an elegant atmosphere with her drop-tuned acoustic guitar and charismatic cello layers, the artist creates a sublime fusion between Led Zeppelin’s acoustic write-ups and Taylor Swift’s early folk pop wonders, leaving us with something completely unique, and completely comforting. The album’s penultimate track is the wistful ‘Hidden Face’, a song that introduces a hint of Karen Harding in Wood’s in-your-face vocal performance, while remaining wholly descriptive of Wood’s state of mind and expressive of her lyrical and musical perspectives. Defined by an explosive, non-lyrical passage that features a simply stunning vocalized part on top of heavy-handed drumming, the song’s melodies, and chords throughout remain rich with thoughtfulness and a perceived sorrowful state in this clear standout in the album.

Jay Wood’s debut EP is a triumphant statement of her recovery and strength of mind, a sublime musical journey that ends way too soon. A masterfully written and lovingly performed and produced collection of songs.

Here and Now by Robert Vendetta

0

Robert Vendetta‘s newest single ‘Here And Now’is soft, sensational, and emotional masterpiece that feels like it came from the golden generation of singer-songwriters that (I thought) we no longer have.

The track begins with the piano and vocals in a straightforward verse…Robert’s impactful and emotional lyrics spare no time and start right away telling this heartfelt story. After the verse we head directly into the slightly higher chorus, and we get a glimpse of Robert is capable of vocally.

Just when you thought the song gave us all it could offer, I was surprised by an amazing orchestration and a climactic bridge section with lyrics that are more bright and hopeful…and for the first time since the start of the track…some percussion and drums. It was a mindblowing and brilliant transition. If you weren’t already surprised, Robert will surprise you with one more chorus and extended outro section which has louder and more complex drums playing along with the piano…it’s a beautiful way to end this masterpiece.

All in all, this is the song for you if you were looking for someone that bridges the gaps between David Bowie and Jamea Blunt…a brilliant singer who can give you emotions with nothing but the piano…but can also strike you with minor details in his singing and instrumentals that will remain stuck in your head for days.

Album: ANDROGENISE by CARΔAMO

0

Farnborough, UK-based artist CARΔAMO is releasing his next album “ANDROGENISE”, a genre-bending journey of self-exploration that the artist aims to take everyone on board and travel uncharted waters together.

CARΔAMO, Cardamon Rozzi is telling his life story through this album across 13 songs…

The seed that came to be the album is courage, courage in being vulnerable and in writing his life story with music and song…and exploring how he came to be part of the people’s lives that surround him… in this journey, Cardamon is not leaving anything out…he’s exploring many genres, many sounds, many conceptual approaches…he’s not saying he’s an artist who does this genre or that…

…he’s a melting pot of basically all genres…

You will find pop, ethnic, dance, electronic, heavy, avant-garde, hip-hop, Latin, drum’n’bass…I can literally go on and mention almost all genres…the album is really a self-exploration to not just the artist within himself…but to anyone who joins Cardamon on this journey.

You’ll get drum N bass with a mix of ambient on his song “Frogs are more precious than Diamonds”…and let me say the naming of all the tracks are also unique and out of the box…CARΔAMO really put effort into each and every element of this album.

…then you’ll enjoy a trip to the 90s electronic dance music with CARΔAMO’s “CARAMELLDANSEN”…which the lyrics might be in Swedish actually!

I’m telling you, “ANDROGENISE” is an unleashed album, bending and melting all barriers of any kind…there are no limitations on what CARΔAMO is capable of, or what he’s explored and tried out…this is the courage we talked about, the seed that bloomed into this album.

Adding to the mix…when you check out the song “SCREAM ABOUT”…which comes in early in the album…you’ll be greeted with an oriental oud…a stringed instrument similar to the western guitar, but it is a fretless instrument.

“ANDROGENISE” is everything you can think of and everything that you couldn’t even think of…it is a journey of self-exploration for anyone who comes across it and experiences it.

We wish all the best to CARΔAMO and we can’t wait to see what he has next to the world.

Cheers!

The History of Sugar by John Leslie

0

The latest single from Australian singer-songwriter John Leslie is called ‘The History Of Sugar’ and it’s a wonderful and catchy masterpiece.

The track begins with some brightly toned cleaned guitars in a nice blend of soft rock, latino, pop, and many other influences. John’s vocals are grounded and powerful, with a great use of his chest voice and at other points head voice and mixed voice as well.

The bass line is clear, thanks to the amazing production, and you can hear the saxophone that gives off some jazz/swing vibes too. I’m in love with how all those elements are blended well and feel like they belong together.

All in all, the song’s guitars and percussions will remain in your head for days. The use of the sax is unconventional for such a song but you will really feel like you love it on first listen. I truly love the way John’s vocals move with the track’s emotions and feel dynamic enough to carry the song’s emotional impact. This is a 10/10 release that I recommend to everyone.

Salone by July

0

Ninth single from July is ‘Salone’, maintaining a streak of pulling off thoughtful and soulful R&B with his smooth croons and minimalistic approach, July stuns once again, continuing to up the ante for himself.

The London-based singer and songwriter July is following up the success of his latest single ‘Medicated’ with more of the same contemporary R&B goodness. This time the artist is raising the minimalism bar a notch. ‘Salone’ is a sensual ditty of silky R&B that makes use of July’s witty and inviting lyrics and his one-of-a-kind style of delivery. The solid backbone of the song, the tight and roomy beats, provide the song with a spine on which the minimalist flair is spun. Oozy melodic synths and breezy samples puff in the air beneath July’s sensational delivery in the cloudy and effervescent mix, making ‘Salone’ a truly cozy track to sit back and relax to.

‘Salone’ continues to prove July’s worth as one of the genres more active and hardworking up-and-coming talents. Continually improving his mixes, gaining more and more shape to his artistic identity, ‘Salone’ is a new highlight in July’s ever-growing catalog.

Drugs by RM Hendrix

0

With the trip-hop genre getting more and more saturated, the challenge here is pretty wild and for you to shine in a genre that has many big names, you have to have…mojo.

RM Hendrix is an artist that kicked down the proverbial door to the trip-hop genre and was just himself…he doesn’t sound like or feel like anyone, and anyone who listens to his music, he’ll reach the same conclusion in less than 1 minute.

Hendrix is based in Boston, USA and he has a point to make in his latest song “Drugs”.

It doesn’t talk about the drugs and pills that instantly come to mind…in fact, he talks about big pharma…the pharmaceutical big guys that are in control.

Hendrix does a couple of things differently that most of the artists sharing the same genre…he actually gives space to the music to breath, evolve and shine…instead of bombarding the audiences with long, neverending vocal flows…I feel like he’s an artist that would go for the saying ‘less is more’.

His music is chill with some kind of unique slowed down drum n bass beats and laid back vocals…an amazing contrast that really elevates the listening experience of his song “Drugs”.

Hendrix’s music would be a very welcome addition and would find itself at home in a playlist with Massive Attack and Portishead.

If you want to chill and kick back on a musical trip, go check out RM Hendrix’s latest single “Drugs”.

Wishing all the best to RM Hendrix, we can’t wait to experience what he has next in store for the audiences.

Cheers!

Late Train by Natalie Clark

0

Unforgettable vocal chops, heartfelt melodies, and a bluesy, soulful arrangement all call Natalie Clark’s latest offering home. ‘Late Train’ sees the singer and songwriter exercise her songwriting talents to create a piece of searing soul pop that is ought to burn a heart-shaped hole in the listeners’ hearts and minds.

A native of the Scottish capital Glasgow, and currently based in Los Angeles, singer and songwriter Natalie Clark is back to toy with our emotions once again. After appearing on The Voice and gaining the attention of vocal legends Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera, and after performing at the BBC Radio 1 sessions at the behest of Richard Branson, there is no surprise that Clark can belt hearty belts, and possesses a stunning control over her voice, and this control is at full display on her latest studio release.

Starting with an impressionistic and chill, sparkling clean electric guitar, the arrangement of the song soon starts growing to incorporate a soulful gospel beat that comes paid for with an economic kick drum pattern and finger snaps. The gospel arrangement soon expands once again with the vocals becoming more direct and fiercer, and with the introduction of a solid, rocking beat that carries the beautiful melody and soothing progressions until the end of the song.

‘Late Train’ by Natalie Clark is a charming song that is so easy to fall for. with gorgeous melodies and a beautiful voice to deliver, and with tight production and a wholesome arrangement, there is very little to go wrong.

Sugar Rush by Pascal Shrady

0

LA based artist Pascal Shrady is preparing to release his latest single “Sugar Rush” on the 24th of this month…we got a sneak peek of what is about to hit the music world…it’s a 3 minutes journey in candyland with a dream like shot of upbeat and lively energy…it’s tasty.

Pascal was born in Cologne, German-American parents, but he has been living for most of his life in Los Angeles.

After high school, he attended the Berklee College of Music, after which he later honed his skills at the Los Angeles College of Music.

He’s been recognized for many of his musical works, but also for his public speaking efforts to create a better world through music.

This is highlighted in his Tedx Talk titled “My Journey for Change, One Song at a Time”.

His upcoming single “Sugar Rush” is a tasteful and energetic electro-pop song with smart lyrics, catchy melodic hooks and upbeat music.

The song doesn’t waste time with an intro…it starts full power right away…then Pascal’s vocals start to join for the first verse…

The verse carries Pascal’s vocals and makes space for him…that’s also happening with the very catchy chorus part…there is always space for Pascal’s vocals that elevates the ‘catchiness’ of the melodic lines…is ‘catchiness’ even a word? you know what I mean…it’s very catchy, familiar and close to the heart, even if we never heard something like it before!

It’s that infectious.

We wish all the best for Pascal with his upcoming release and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the world after “Sugar Rush”.

Cheers!
