Seven by Artela

Fusing her Taiwanese heritage with the experiences she went through in NYC and London, Artela made huge waves with her single “Seven”…a slow burner of a song confronting several social challenges, especially for women…” Seven” is an electronic track with a deep story to its elements.

Artela studied piano classically and was training to be a classical musician…and somehow, that road led her to create electronic music that challenges the social norms that have been set in place, raising obstacles in the face of many individuals and groups in our societies.

Artela’s “Seven” talks about several things that we live in…it talks about the paranoid feeling of being watched all the time, whether by society, family, or even friends…

The song also tackles the challenge of having women conform to specific social standards…sometimes these standards stand in the way of growth and limit the whole life experience.

“Seven” has few lyrics, but they have been put in place to tackle these issues…

The song is a slow burner, and takes its time to develop its musical ideas, slowly but surely crafting an electronic storytelling experience…

The last third of the track sees a change in the pace and energy and starts to include more percussive elements that convey the energization of the musical experience…is that even a word? When you experience the song, you’ll know that this word fits rather nicely…

Artela is creating art that tackles social challenges and this is one of the best things that art can do…raise awareness.

We wish all the best in life for Artela, you’re awesome.

Cheers!

EP: Infinite Light by Major Kami

The new EP “Infinite Light” from Major Kami is a complete experience gift wrapped in a 2 track package…a bit unusual you say? Wait till you hear the rest of it…

First of all…Major Kami is a concept rather than a name…basically, it’s Dan Burkhart and Denis

Expert composing the music, and lyrics written by Camille Miller and Denis Expert….

…along with them, several female singers participate in the vocals.

It was an idea born in 2019 in the hands of a collective of artists called DAMde8 in Bordeaux, France.

The idea was to bring artists together from all over the world, and have them practice and collaborate on musical projects without ever meeting each other…it was an idea, but soon enough turned into reality.

The concept was to craft songs about David Bowie and his life journey, but without ever mentioning his name in the lyrics…a challenge after another, they set for themselves a very high ceiling…and in the process, they win the challenge and they transcend beyond music and lyrics.

…these collaborating artists are from all over the world…and there are more than 30 of them…how are they able to create something? It’s a mystery…or is it absolute and utter dedication to the idea and to challenge themselves to the extreme?

…in either case, they are absolutely nailing it.

Their latest EP “Infinite Light” is a 2 song designed and crafted to bring people together, as the artists brought themselves together…

The first song is “Mystical Musical Maze”….and it’s a spacey, chill anthemic song…with huge vocals filling the air, with sonically perfect synths…It’s trip in an infinite space…

Their own description of the story of how this song came about is just too perfect not to mention here…

Mystical Musical Maze We were still locked up (Covid), when this piece was written, and I imagined Bowie’s vinyl records as a sonic and spiritual elixir to all the negativity that was going on

…just imagine taking that sonic and spiritual elixir when you hear the song…

…speaking of a trip in infinite space…

The second song is titled “Infinite Light”…

“Infinite Light” has a beat and a more traditional sonic structure…however, the touch that Major Kami brings to any of their songs can be sensed…and it feels like you can feel their artistic creations…

“Infinite Light” feels like you’re participating in….a space parade full of amazing structures and designs, floating in space, going from planet to planet…

The synths are on point, every single one of them…the leads, basses, organ pads…everything sounds good together, gelling in nicely.

Major Kami’s concept is so fresh and so challenging, it sucks you into their world…and it’s not easy leaving.

They’re preparing for a tour…now they will take the audience on the actual space trip. I’m imagining an amazing live performance with an amazing lighting show…it’s gonna be stunning.

We wish all the collaborative artists the best in life, you deserve the best.

Can’t wait to see what trip you take us on next.

Cheers!

Utopia by AMONG THE MASSES

“Utopia” is the latest single from Swedish rockers Among The Masses and it’s a song that brings home almost every influence and trope the band members love.

The track starts with keyboards and synths that have a very modern and futuristic tone. The vocals and drums shortly join and from the first few notes that the vocalist sings, I could feel the band’s style and the mix of genres they are aiming towards. It felt like a mix of Anathema and Pink Floyd at first, in the sense that the vibe is both gloomy and has some prog details to it, but then I was hit with how the song also maintains a conventional song structure that gained it a ton of accessibility.

I love how the sectioning of the verses and chorus was clear and it made me able to imagine how everything is. I even felt like covering the song myself from how much it stuck with me. The vocalist lets out a beautifully long high note before the bridge that felt like part of an epic soundtrack, one of the many vibes that the song has got.

One more aspect I love about this song is the stellar production that makes the bass and drums sound clear and present among the melodic elements of the track. It’s rare nowadays to hear a production this balanced and fair to all the elements in the same production style. I recommend this song as you won’t be able to get it out of your mind after the first listen and I promise you’ll love it the more you listen to it.

Blame It On The Whiskey by Rae Solomon

When I first heard “Blame It On The Whiskey” by Rae Solomon I knew that the spirit of strong pop-rock singers that belt their way through songs with a powerful instrumentation is anything but dead. It’s been a long while since pop artists cared for having uptempo rock instrumentation in their songs like this one has, and the secret to why this single is great lies in the execution.

First of all, we hear the chord progression on the acoustic guitar, and the vocal line is sung softly, giving us an introduction and a taste of what’s about to come. The drums and heavier guitars join shortly after when the verse ends and the chorus begins in a very 2000s-esque arrangement, where the bass and drum lines are kicking you in the face with their strength.

Moreover, the strength of the lyrics is on par with the strength of the music. The narrative is accusing the lover of being unfaithful and destructive while blaming it on the drink, and the way it is sung is the cherry on top. Rae’s strong and clear timbre carries the emotional weight of the song amazingly. The control and range that Rae shows here are too versatile for one song, and I’m totally here for it. From breathiness to chesty strong notes to vowel modification…this woman knows her techniques so well.

In conclusion, if you were a fan of Avril Lavigne, Pink, and Kelly Clarkson in their 2000s era then you will surely love this track and the energy it brings. If you were not a fan of said artists, then you will fall in love with the belting and the rock-ish qualities of the song, and like me, you will begin researching Rae Solomon and listening to her on the regular from now on.

Faithful God (Ft. Mariah Lanee & Jeremy McKain) by Kell Bailey

Kell Bailey is bringing his fullest game on his latest drop of pure, old-school-fresh-sound gospel music, featuring Billboard charting guest artists and some soulful performances that bring musical class and drama together with divine glorification in a healthy dish.

‘Faithful God’, Bailey’s latest single is part of his highly anticipated album ‘Evidence’, which was very recently released, and it is a sampler of what Bailey’s got in store for us on the album, and a showcase of his litany of talents. Producer, singer, and songwriter Kell Bailey has a sound that can be described at its very core as pure gospel, but the panache that he provides on Faithful God is simply stunning.

First things first, the drums are astonishing. Tight and punchy, the beats are delivered with a lively zest that simply carries the majority of the song’s bombastic vocals and synths. Without the roomy drums, they would have completely lost the base on which they build their extravaganza. And yes, the song is fantastically jubilant and extravagant. Dotted with tasteful synths and electronic keyboard sounds that are equally fresh and familiar, the song’s performances are alive and breathing. The vocals from Kell and 2 guest artists are all equally terrific. 3 consummate professionals, singing their absolute hearts out for the glory of the divine. Religious or not-so-much, you would have to be heartless to not feel the passion that the singers are delivering with.

‘Faithful God’ is a piece of gospel that’s so neat and crisp and immaculately crafted that it could dwarf maybe the majority of chart-topping pop hits. At least as far as soul and musicality goes. Lyrically, the song has a clear message that’s stated as early as the song’s title, so that its audience will find it easy to reach and relate to. Kell Bailey’s multiple talents are in a sublime display on ‘Faithful God’.

Let it Go by Schuz

Schuz’s latest release “Let It Go” is a melting pot of many ideas, moods, instruments…that fuses every element smoothly with the next to bring us an upbeat and energetic dive into the world of EDM.

The man behind the Schuz’s mask is none other than Spencer Schumacher, an upcoming artist that graduated from Point Blank Music School in 2016 only to land a spot in ill.gates coveted “Class of 808” in 2019…in a very short period of time he’s done a lot.

Schuz makes eye-popping live sets as well as crafting music in the studio.

“Let It Go” is…well…everything under the umbrella of EDM…and maybe a bit more…

So, starting out with the intro…”Let It Go” has huge pop/electro piano chords…

Then vocals and vocal samples…

…thrown some drums in the mix…both electronic and acoustic…

…cinematic bridge, with melodic pianos and even melodic basses….

The main chorus then slaps you into a fusion between heavy electro, trap and dubstep…

…with huge sounding bass synth melodies…

…the track builds up itself in a more progressive approach…and it keeps building upon itself, taking us from a slow cinematic part to an explosively energetic chorus…to once again a simple piano focused riff…only to find yourself in an erupting volcano of sub bass energy…

The track is filled to the brim with energy and I can only imagine how it feels during a live set…people would be blown away…

Schuz made an anthemic heavy electro track with “Let It Go” that will have people diving into its world in no time, releasing energy and getting a truckload more from experiencing the track…

We wish Schuz all the best in life…and can’t wait to hear what’s next from this awesome man.

Please Don’t Burn The Sage by Ryan Yingst

When I first heard Ryan Yingst’s “Please Don’t Burn The Sage”…I was mesmerized.

The song has a couple of twists, especially if it’s your first time listening to the amazing Ryan Yingst.

Ryan is many interesting things…singer, songwriter, a multi-instrumentalist and a guitarist at heart, audio engineer and producer…that’s a lot of cool and interesting things to be all at once…and also Ryan is based in Nashville, Tennessee, one of the cities that has a long history with music…so even the place he’s at is filled to the brim with musical history.

Ryan’s “Please Don’t Burn The Sage” is a story…about living with the losses of loved ones…and how that makes us appreciate the people that we love that’s around us at the moment…

The song starts with an old vinyl crackling sound on top of the intro guitar arpeggio…

You get the feeling you’re going back in time, only to be surprised that after this intro, all the crackling effects are gone and you’re in a pristine and clear listening space…

Ryan’s voice is captivating, to say the least…and is perfectly utilized in “Please Don’t Burn The Sage”…the music is an acoustic experience, with sliding guitars, finger picking and an acoustic kick drum and some percussive elements…

The whole experience is like a dream…with the music and instrumentation holding the main vocal melody shining on top…

Ryan’s vocal performance and delivery is on point…it’s like watching an emotional live performance on stage, it’s good.

We wish you Ryan all the best in life, you definitely deserve it…can’t wait to see what’s next for you, but we’re sure it’s great things.

Go check out Ryan Yingst’s “Please Don’t Burn The Sage” right now on spotify…
