The Funny Part by Down South Pepper Band

Hailing from the northernmost part of the world comes the country group (pun unintended) Down South Pepper Band. These Norwegian musicians draw influence from a lot of country and blues subgenres and have garnered a pretty good following thanks to their loving and loyal fans.

On their latest single, “The Funny Part“, they sing the verses with a style that’s a mix of storytelling and spoken word. I really loved how they lets the listeners live the genre and influence due to the tone of the guitars, the soft percussion, the slow tempo, and even the accent with the pronunciation of the words.

As paradoxical as the band’s name and the part of the world that they come from may be, they perfected the mood and the mental picture associated with country/folk. It’s hard to be an exemplary band that sticks to a genre’s roots while maintaining to be fresh and not generic. And believe me when I tell you that Down South Pepper and this new single are anything but generic.

With a song that’s as bright-sounding as this, we have an equally wholesome music video that’s full of comic relief and moments of the band doing a lot of fun and sketchy acts at various locations. The outfits are very typical to what country musicians wear, but the snowy scenery is the odd element in here…if no one told me or I hadn’t seen the music video I would have never guessed this band is Norwegian at all. In conclusion, I recommend this song to anyone who’s looking for a song that mixes country and folk with some bright sounds, clean on-point vocals, and a song that’s both tightly written and tightly performed.

Lock & Key by Sky Olson

0

Alt-pop sensation Sky Olson is back with an unforgettable piece of dramatic songwriting with a peculiar and tight sound that justifies exactly why he’s one of alt-pop’s fresh rising faces that should not be overlooked.

Hailing from Prove, Utah, Sky Olson is a singer-songwriter whose sound on his latest single Lock & Key is driving, seductive, and intoxicating. Sky Olson’s soulful vocals take the center stage. Effortless, effervescent, and expressive, Olson’s vocal performance is backed by a truly mesmerizing instrumental section.

The trap beats are percussive and provide a tight, robotic, and driving groove, the muffled and spacey piano is hypnotizing and gently pounding, while a crazy bass line goes happily all over the place in the background. The songwriting of the song uses unfamiliar scales that inject the space with mystique and drama. A fabulous, clean but gritty-sounding guitar solo is short, soulful, and just superbly played.

Lock & Key is a wonderful new offering from a name that you should keep on the lookout for. Sky Olson’s sensibilities for songwriting and production, and his confident deliveries are fresh and unique and are incredibly well put together. Lock & Key is an immediate winner.

Take It Too by May Payne

0

Some formulas seem to never get old no matter how many iterations of it have been done, and among those are roomy, jazzy, lofi ballads with personal, impassioned singing, gut-wrenching stories, and warm, soulful instrumentations. May Payne masterfully pulls this off with her latest single, titled Take It Too.

Based in Manchester, May Payne is a singer-songwriter whose vulnerable, delicate singing feels right at home on her latest single. Take It Too is a sprawling tale of desperation. Clocking in at nearly 6 minutes long, Take It Too is the story of May Payne suffering abuse in a toxic relationship, laying down in detail how she was mistreated and given false hopes, and ending with her basically begging the other person to stay, promising them to forgive all the hurt that they caused. So, not the healthiest of situations, but the music luckily is as healthy as it can be.

Throughout the song’s 6 minutes, May Payne’s performance remains dramatic and compelling, perfectly acted, lending to the song a sense of gravity. May Payne successfully made me eager to know how things turned out in the end with her exciting and pulling singing that’s mostly hushed, restrained, and gentle. But when needed, Payne effortlessly injects her performance with a sense of unyielding momentum. The instrumentation is composed of a keyboard that’s floaty and dreamy, a warm bass, and a drum kit that’s tight and punchy. The production is spot on, the performances live and breathe with May’s words, and the song sounds beautifully organic and live, and with the jazzy, multi-faceted composition of the piece, this warmth feels right at home.

May Payne’s latest single is warm and personal, with personal, heartfelt lyrics that are descriptive and honest, at some points uncomfortable so, as they display May Payne at her most vulnerable, showing immense courage from her side, and adding depth to the final output that makes the song gratifying and fulfilling. Take It Too is a piece of art of the highest standard.

Bop That Rhythm by Sky Canyon

Let me tell you about a perfect morning for me…

Waking up early…

A cup of french coffee…

Sitting on the balcony…

Listening to jazz…

…and this perfect morning will never achieve this culmination if it wasn’t for the jazz part.

I’m glad to report that today was a perfect morning for me…because of the amazing Mr.Sky Canyon.

Sky is a veteran American musician from Boulder, Colorado with over 50 years in the business, composing, conducting, playing in orchestras…Sky’s talents are deeply rooted in jazz…however, he plays classical in symphony orchestra and he’s also extremely well versed in latin and new age music.

The fusion of all of Sky’s musical life experiences has made him an apex musician and given him a full view of the musical genre wavelength…wherever you’re standing on this musical genre wavelength, he would have already broken new grounds there.

Sky’s love of jazz started at a very early age and took him places…one his stops in life was with the vibraphone master Terry Gibbs, where he studied with him…and it was a life-changing experience that unlocked Sky’s true potential…and literally…Sky’s the limit.

“Bop That Rhythm” is Sky’s latest release…and it’s a beast of a track.

It’s jazz…raw, unfiltered and in your face…if you can call jazz that!

The track is masterfully crafted to allow for all musicians to showcase their skills, while being extremely melodic and catchy…

…it’s also impeccably recorded to perfection as Sky recorded with A-lister musicians from the Denver area.

The piano is at the highest levels of melodic jazz mastery…

Sky’s vibraphone jazz action is…infinite…the catchy melodic lines and licks never ends…and it takes you to places you never thought of.

The upright bass not just adds the soul of the “bopping” of the track, but also the bass solo is absolutely amazing.

The drums of course drive the whole tune, and also shines bright during its solo near the end of the track.

It’s the kind of jazz tune that could lift your mood and put you in a better mental state…it’s also the kind of tune that could easily be utilized for film, I can imagine the montage it’s being used for during a major hollywood production…and nothing less.

The track should really never end…but sadly it does at six minutes, six seconds.

…”Bop That Rhythm” could easily take my whole morning playing on loop and I wouldn’t want it to end.

Sky, we are thrilled about all of your upcoming musical projects and we can’t wait for your next releases.

Wishing you all the best in life.

Cheers!

Listening to Zenodro’s music you’ll experience hip-hop, rock, latin musical influences…especially cumbia, which touches upon his Colombian roots…

Lyrically, Zenodro is hard-hitting, deep and unrelenting.

His latest song “Trainwreck” is his second release this year and his fourth in his career.

Zenodro has been making one hit after another…and yes, it is understandable, he has a lot of experience to share with the world, and he has something to say, something to add.

Zenodro’s “Trainwreck” is a very unique phonk-produced rap/trap/hip-hop fusion of a song that aims to hit everyone in its scope, the flow is strong with this one, and the beat complements the flow perfectly…the song is only 2:46 seconds long, which is actually a very smart decision that Zenodro had to make…

…so by having the song at that length, I’m betting everyone will keep it on repeat for some time.

His flow is top-notch…

Martin Luther by V of 40M

0

A warrior always has an armour and weapon, and for V of 40M, his armour is his bold lyricism, his weapon is his powerful vocals, and the bullets ready to shoot are his dynamic beats. V of 40M’s “Martin Luther” is not just a Hip-Hop track; it’s an epic, stern statement to call for rights.

North Carolina-based rapper V of 40M is no ordinary artist! He doesn’t go for a hit; he goes for a mental revolution. He has a brilliant, savage manoeuvre that shows in his ability to make his notions clear through his well-structured pieces. Collaborating with producer Saint Cardona, he presents his latest explosion, “Martin Luther.”

“Martin Luther” will instantly appeal to you if, like me, you enjoy Hip-Hop music when it depicts a vital cause more than you do when it presents dope beats and a killer performance but hollow content. The song has an upbeat rhythm; however, the overall atmosphere is serious and edgy, which fits the theme best.

Action-packed synths introduce the track to us in a mellow manner that is enough to add thrills from the start. Soon the emerging artist makes an entrance with a smooth yet head-hitting vocal delivery. His raspy vocals are as potent as the message he wants to send, and that adds quite a degree of authenticity. The harmony of the vocal line, synths, and percussion creates an urbane feel that makes the message stand out. The sincere lyricism speaks for many who need to borrow a gutsy voice to claim their rights, just as Martin Luther King Jr. once did and as V of 40M is doing now.

We’re in awe of a very talented rapper who has a vision and distinct artistry. Enjoy “Martin Luther” below, which, as the artist said, will “open your mind and awaken your inner warrior.”

The accompanying music video for Shana Sarett’s “Cold in LA” features her band of contemporary dancers which deliver an intricate and provocative performance that is completely in line with the musical creative vision of the song, and gives the feeling of duality an incredible sense of dimensionality.

I’m Not Good At This Anymore by Alexandra

0

Alexandra’s latest single “I’m Not Good At This Anymore” released on March 25th, is a testament to her rising talent. Alexandra is a singer/songwriter based in Dallas, Texas, she started her solo career in 2020 with “Bad Stuff” as her Debut. Despite only having three singles to her name before “I’m Not Good At This Anymore” Alexandra has already gained significant recognition. Her previous single “Bonnie & Clyde” made it onto BMI’s Texas Top Ten playlist.

“I’m Not Good At This Anymore” is a relatable and emotionally charged ballad that explores “post-first date come down – where the excitement of getting to know someone is watered down by the realization that your childlike wonder surrounding love has evaporated,” said Alexandra.

The song opens with palm-muted acoustic strums that build to the first chorus where a crunchy electric guitar is teased. The second verse introduces a heart-pounding drum line, which keeps progressing until it reaches an indie rock beat in the chorus. Layered with resonating lead guitars, acoustic guitar strums, and ambient synth the chorus has a full and beautiful soundscape that gives a euphoric experience to the listener. Alexandra’s warm and expressive vocals elevate the track, allowing her to deliver catchy and memorable vocal lines that weave together seamlessly with her storytelling ability.

“I’m Not Good At This Anymore” is a well-crafted and moving song that showcases Alexandra’s musical prowess. Her songwriting is thoughtful and poignant, while her vocal delivery is both heartfelt and powerful.

EP: Pour On Me (Remixed) by Jay Roecker

0

Jay Roecker’s Latest release is a short EP of 3 remixes of his late ‘22 hit Pour On Me. Featuring a variety of tastes for the song, each sounding unique and standout, the EP is a healthy reimagining of one of Jay’s most rocked-to hits.

Joy Roecker is an Austin, Texas-based singer and producer whose brand of dance floor-ready light techno and electronica are melodic, punchy, and smooth. The 3 featured remixes are courtesy of Lenny Fontana, Valimoor, and Klubjumpers, and each take on the original brings something new to the table. Lenny Fontana’s opening remix sees the song take a funkier road. With a more pronounced drum part that features jangly hats, bleeping synths, and a generally chiller, more hypnotic feel than the original cut.

Valimoor’s remix is industrial and features more pronounced and punchy beats that are electronic and hard-hitting, mixed beautifully between the right and left channels. It might be referred to as the sweet spot between Fontana’s watered-down funky take, and Klubjumpers’ twisted and processed one, which takes the original song, by far, the farthest distance. Klumjumpers’ remix sees the rhythm and harmony of the original spliced and altered, creating an alien feel that’s almost ready for the dance floor. Rave-y, intricate, and slightly challenging, Klubjumpers’ remix is the most interesting, while being the least accessible.

This short EP of remixes is not overdone. Displaying three solid take on an already loved song that takes it in different directions, each compelling enough is a testament to the versatility of Joe Roecker’s original. A tasteful EP that will have something for everybody.
