FEATURETTE Unleashed The COCAINE!

0

FEATURETTE song was born from leaning into the chaos, when it comes to obsessive behaviour.

Cocaine” by FEATURETTE is a total heart rush of addictive beats, run-on sentences, and cyclical thoughts. It’s absolutely relentless and provides no relief.

I’m painting love-obsession as if it were a drug, and it’s my drug of choice. “Cocaine” is meant to capture that new, all consuming, check-your-phone-every-three-seconds kind of love, toxic and manic as it may be; full of butterflies and nausea.
Obsession has been a topic I’ve been stuck on since the pandemic started. Too much time to think coupled with a racing mind has been a recipe for disaster, so I started writing some of my thoughts down and trying to capture what that might sound like.

Enter into the love-obsessed world of “Cocaine” on your favourite platform

Someone close to me recently gave me permission to go all the way with my art, to lean into the uncomfortable topics and make those really fucking weird sounds. For me, this is my first attempt at delving into the uglier bits of the human experience.

It’s a genre-bending little jackrabbit of a track, it scratches that itch in my brain that I’ve been dying to explore.

Pour On Me by Jay Roecker

1

Artist Jay Roecker released an alternative electronic pop single “Pour On Me” on the 21st of December of last year from Austin, Texas.

Jay Roecker is an artist who is deeply ingrained into the music business, collaborating with artists, managing partnerships for the Radio Disney Network, and even forming his own record distribution label Roecker Records.

Jay Roecker is an ambitious and entrepreneurial musician who does not limit himself to the business side of music, but his vision was to also write and record his own original music in different genres with various artist collaborations. Thus, we have the latest single from all one musician, “Pour On Me”.

“Pour On Me” is an emotional dance track that instantly hooks, starting with powerful vocals, melodic reverb bell synths, and deep dark bass. As soon as the drums are introduced, the groove begins to change the whole form of the music into something more bouncy and solid, which is a thoughtful creative choice in creating contrast between it and the airy sound of the synths.

“Pour On Me” has a dreamy ambiance, groovy beat, solid production, and creative symbolism in the lyrics. If Jay Roecker, with his management and business expertise, can also write music this good, I am left to wonder what this man can’t do.

Multi-talented Dana has always had a passion for songwriting that came naturally to her from a young age. “It wasn’t until I started writing my songs down in never-ending notebooks that I thought, maybe not everyone is doing this. For a while, writing them down was enough. Until it wasn’t. When my dad suddenly died, I thought about my life and if I was really living it. I thought, What if nobody ever hears my songs? What if I am the only person that ever hears them?” Said, Dana

Dana honors her dad while sharing with the world his wisdom in “Keep Moving Forward” an uplifting country song that’s inspired by the advice she received from him. “I wrote this song about a real conversation I had with my dad at a time when I was feeling really stuck in my life” “Some of the best lessons my dad ever taught me were on that phone call” Said Dana. The song begins in a soft and smooth atmosphere with Dana singing over an acoustic guitar and as the song progresses it builds up bit by bit. Until the song reaches its full soundscape in the last chorus filled with melodic guitar licks and backing vocals in the background. Dana’s storytelling ability really stands out in the song. She takes the listener on an uplifting journey through the song with her incredibly warm and charming voice. “Keep Moving Forward” is an addictive, sweet, well-produced song providing good life advice, thus making it a complete work of art.

Elevated with emotion and positivity, get ready to take a big swig of happy juice with Afro-pop artist and prolific entrepreneur Fléxy’s vibrant song. Based in Hamburg, Germany, he released an evergreen and luscious song called ‘ We’re beautiful’. On the 1st of October in 2021. It’s been 2 years, and this song is just always worth mentioning over and over. This song was from his debut album ‘It’s possible’ which he created just before the pandemic, and is a whopping 18-track album. Flèxy is a Nigerian-born singer, songwriter, and record producer, who was nominated for 4 different categories at the annual south music awards in 2016.

We’re beautiful is the best to cure sadness or feelings of despair. If you ever feel like you don’t love yourself enough, Fléxy is here with a remedy in the form of his music. The overall sound of the song is rich, juicy, and high energy. It feels like taking a good shot of caffeine in the morning. It’s the perfect mix of Afro and pop music. Although the lyrics are simple and straightforward the vibe of the song is contagious. The musical arrangement is rich, with a medium-paced pop soundscape. There are lots of percussion instruments that are mainly the attraction of the song with a spicy jungle vibe. There are also shaking sound effects and electric guitar that is distorted and compressed to make a weird yet cool sound effect. The song is a big sunny and cheerful arena for love and hope. The vocals are smooth from both Flèxy and the angelic female vocalist. Add the song to your playlist for an ecstatic mood.

Chez Moi by Kmalectro

0

Already making bomb tracks almost one year since his debut, artist Kmalectro persists in making music that speaks to the modern tortured soul. Based in Cologne, Germany with origins in Afghanistan, he released a moving electro track called ‘Chez Moi’ on the 10th of December. He is influenced by a broad range of genres like electronic, folk, and indie music which really shows as his music fuses different sonic elements that make the music truly exquisite.

Encompassing movement, flavor, and warmth against an ironic backdrop of heavily processed electronic music that feels unnatural, the song calls for the preservation of the real human soul and standing against the progressive currents and waves taking away the human elements as its being replaced with artificial intelligence and robots. The song put the question into action: do we really want to become cold and soulless as the years pass by? Will we still feel at home anywhere with technology taking over our lives like fungi growing all over our favorite plants? The overall sound of the song gives you a striking contrast of warm and dancey vibes in a very electronically packaged sound. The song is medium paced and the melody is funny and whimsical, adding a very playful twist to the rhythm of the song. The musical arrangement is a mash-up of hard drums, jungle-like percussions, spacey sounds, and what seems to be an alteration of a xylophone sound effect. There is a female vocal that is ethereal, that feels like it’s calling you from miles away, echoing. This song is an excellent way to fight the rapid technological advances that are happening right now in the world.

Upstream by Thy Veils

0

Art with a message is one thing, art with a message and a direction is another, but art with both those things, backed with masterful execution, is in a class all on its own.

Enter, Thy Veils. A Romanian artistic collective from the beautiful Timisoara, Thy Veils have been a thing for more than 2 decades. Taking it upon themselves to stay ahead of the advancements of technology in music and music making, the ensemble often includes composers, performers, designers, choreographers, and visual artists, carefully utilizing those talents to make ethereal, ageless music that sounds equally primordial and futuristic.

Their latest release, the enigmatic ‘Upstream’ is a journey of ethereal soundscapes and haunting voices and instrumentals that will leave you equally fulfilled and dumbfounded. With a melancholic and minimal composition, the emotional heft is left to be expressed primarily by the production, and with this, we have a song that excels on the front of sound design, with trappy, stuttering beats, a warm, throbbing bass tone that plays snaky, melodic lines and a number of colorful fills, all wrapped in a blanket of cold, airy synth pads, and a trumpet that sets an ominous mood, while adding an essential element that bolsters the timelessness that the group was going for. The ethereal vocals are haunting and the deliveries are sublime and beautifully fit into the narrative that the lyrics describe.

This wonderful addition from an endlessly creative and expansive collective ‘Thy Veils’ is artistic, soothing, and introspective. Packed with care, Upstream is a song with immaculate depths and countless layers, displaying massive talent and vision.

Warm in Winter by xivra

Artist Xivra released a new EDM single “Warm in Winter” featuring Laura Wright on the 18th of January from Switzerland.

Songwriter and music producer Xivra has been collaborating with various artists in 2022 to bring us electronic songs in different styles, with “Warm in Winter” being his first release in 2023 featuring singer Laura Wright.

The full sound of the stabbing bass gives the track a rich body of warmth, while the airy synths sound like falling snowflakes that reflect the sunlight.

Among the most unique and defining production techniques on the track, Xivra uses reverb very creatively in “Warm in Winter” in a way that creates a softly spinning sense of space.

There’s a physical sensation that’s evoked by “Warm in Winter” and it may be difficult to describe.

Have you ever been in the snow while touched by the sun, closed your eyes, looked up, spread your arms, and started spinning? Well, that’s the best way I can describe Xivra’s creation, and what it feels like to me, but you’ll have to listen to it yourself to find out.

Album: DIALOGUE by Parjam Parsi

0

The elusive pianist and composer Parjam Parsi, returns to our platform with a brand new “old” album. Dialogue, an album released way back in 2012 is a delightful collection of short pieces that asks more questions and sets more things in motion than most albums of this nature would dare.

The brilliant Parjam Parsi is a composer and pianist whose organic compositions and fluid fingers make for sounds that could equally be described as delightful tunes or deep, rich pieces of art. On the surface, Dialogue offers more of the same Parjam Parsi magic. Short to medium-length compositions, warm, dramatic, and mostly unaccompanied piano, playing layered parts that set one melody against the other in delicate harmony. Counterpoint and syncopations are two elements, heavily relied upon in Parsi’s music, and they are most often featured with sublime fluidity and effortlessness that the complexity of the pieces gets pleasantly lost on most listeners, and what they are usually left with is a piano instrumental that compels and draws the attention, without ever sounding forceful or demanding.

Dialogue is an open conversation, started by Parsi himself, that evokes South American poetry, poets, and the composer himself. The results are usually thought-provoking, introspective, and curious. The cyclic nature of the compositions, the seemingly lost meter, and floating melodies all propel this album forward, making the music sound like a tapestry of homogenous, but randomly splashed colors, like the browns and yellows of a forest floor, or the greens and deep blues of a flowing river, and such colorations, in turn, induce a near physical sense of motion in Parjam Parsi’s works. While most music of this nature resorts to a few memorable melodies per piece, Parjam’s music is unquestionably more dense, sophisticated, and curious.

The heavier-than-ever feature of some kind of bass instrument throughout this album does it a great service in terms of setting it apart from Parjam’s previous releases, which were for the most part piano-only. The bass parts of this release, be it an upright or any other bass instrument, are an essential part of the motion, and of the dialogue, the pieces aim to start.

Parjam Parsi’s Dialogue was a more fulfilling listen than his 2 already brilliant previous releases, the melancholic ‘In Decadence and Disarray’, and the dreamlike ‘Immeasurable Distance’. Dialogue presents us with a more refined and confident Parjam Parsi, in total control of his narratives, both musical and conceptual. Dialogue is an album that’s greatly pleasant, equally when consumed at face value, or when in-depth and thought over its themes and ideas.

PRATTO’s brand-new single is the perfect Miami banger. With larger-than-life production, a neat, tight rhythm, and soulful vocal deliveries, Into the Night will easily rock any dancefloor and transform any night drive into an epic cinematic experience.

PRATTO is a Miami-based artist. A producer of electronic music, this latest single of his features the heartful vocals of the talented Jordan Grace, who has worked with superstars like Martin Garrix in his ever-growing portfolio. The mix of PRATTO’s experienced vision and long years of trials in the local and regional EDM scenes with Jordan Grace’s youthful vocals and lush deliveries is a mix that propels this song forward.

Driven and energetic, this nighttime cut is both enigmatic and accessible. With its driving rhythms and deep-hitting drums, the rich, synth-based arrangements, its fresh and appropriate choices of airy pads, and stabby bass sounds, the orchestration of Into the Night is compelling, warm, and inviting, while maintaining a prominent flair of melancholic drama, which serves to add a vivid color, and never manages to make the song sound sad in any way. On the contrary, Into the Night sounds very bright and optimistic, but in its own unique way.

A delightful release from PRATTO, with excellent-sounding production, a high standard of quality, and a brilliant feature from Jordan Grace. Into the Night is a banger that will effortlessly survive until the summer, and hopefully even outlive it.
