Skandal by Major Kami

0

Major Kami announces her upcoming release “Skandal” coming out on the 2nd of December as part of DAMde8’s second EP which will be released on the same date.

Camille Miller known as Major Kami is a Canadian singer/songwriter/composer based in Singapore. She is part of a French-based collective project called “DAMde8”, founded in 2019 by composer/producer Denis Expert and composer/sound engineer Dan Burkhart. It consists of 30 artists and speakers from all over the world who have never met each other. Fifteen of those people work together for one purpose, which is capturing the spirit and sound of David Bowie in an album called Major Jones about Bowie’s life; with Major Kami and their guest Sarah Jay Hawley from massive attacks on vocals.

Skandal is about being different, cuddling the outcasts of society in a warm hug. With a warm bass synth and drum kicks topped with Major Kami’s soothing and expressive vocals, the verses deliver a cozy atmosphere. In the chorus the song gets groovy; with a duet between amazing synth vocals and Kami’s stunning falsetto voice backed by ambient synth fully capturing the 80’s vibe. The song ends in a repetitive sing-along outro backed by an electronic beat, synth ambiance, Kami’s backing vocals, and a synth-pulsing lead line fading out.

Pyro by Skycabin

Skycabin released an experimental sensational and exciting tune called ‘ Pyro’, on the 7th of December. From LA, US. This song is going to be part of their first EP Somnia made up of 6 songs, as a visual anthology that will be released periodically like Tv shows, with each song developing a mysterious story over time. The duo was founded in 2020 by Farbod and Sepand. Skycabin harbored over 300 thousand streams on Spotify.

Skycabin has a really unique sound that cannot be defined by any particular genre. Their music is extremely enjoyable and fresh and keeps you wanting to come back for more. Pyro is very daunting and has a dark undertone to it. It tells the story of a man who lights his town on fire. The overall sound of the song is a slow adrenaline spike with a sort of hypnotic element. The tantalizing beat with an interchangeable fast rhythm between prominent drums and clapping over the electronic soundscape is amazing. The musical attainment is dynamic with an intense, gradual buildup of anticipation and excitement in the beat. The vocals are sung in a slow and sexy kind of way yet you feel like there is some kind of emotion of regret in the way the vocals are played. You must put SkyCabin on your musical radar because they’re about to skyrocket with their distinct taste!

Haunted By You by Bradley Denniston

0

Artist Bradley Denniston based in Los Angeles, US, released a funky electronic pop song called ‘Haunted’, a delicious treat with a twinge of sadness that will swell up your emotions and get you dancing on your feet. This is Bradley’s 6th single release ever under his record label Radium and ever since he started working his way through the artist side. He has sold over 1 million records globally as a producer and worked on several Grammy and Oscar awards-nominated projects.

This song is like the alter ego of something like ‘crying in the club’ by Camilla Cabello. It’s a happy song yet there is a lot of hidden sorrow, which makes this song a sonically enriching piece through its ambivalence. The song talks about the duality of someone you connect with but who is no longer there. You can feel the undertones of pain sewed into the joyful tunes of the song. The overall sound of the song is highly energetic, alive, and perfect for dancing, yet it also feels wounded and longing for something lost. The musical arrangement is full, with a very fast-paced rhythm. There are a lot of percussions used in a fun and cheerful way, with a bassy guitar, and prominent cymbals. The song is considered loud with a lot of magical, electronic sounds too. The vocals are so emotive and passionate with a lot of semi-shouting and high-pitched tones. You need this song on your playlist to jump-start a lazy morning or feel good about something bad in your life!

For The Last Time by Ninni

0

Prolific artist Ninni released a pop-folk emotive tune that will grip your heart by the fingers called ‘for the last time’, on the 2nd of December all the way from Naples, Italy. You’re going to experience some tears so get your bottles ready with this song. Ninni is a multi-instrumentalist who has gone into songwriting in his profession. He believes that telling stories through music helps establish a deeper connection with the listeners.

Natural and nostalgic in a sense, this song will take you to a place full of winter roses and autumn colors along a hazy pink sky. The song is for the loved ones who aren’t with us anymore. It’s a song that you can listen to if you’re feeling like mourning somebody again or want to get deep into your feelings about the loss in general. Even though the song can depress you, the vocals, lyrics, and acoustic guitar will still manage to put a weary smile on your face as you reminisce about people who are no longer with you. The overall sound of the song is mellow and tender, it feels like a hug despite its sorrow. The musical arrangement is nothing but a soft and slow guitar melody and a surprisingly light and high-pitched piano by the end. The vocals are full of sad emotive tones. You will not regret this beautiful piece.

Enamor by Reue

0

With the reputation of being structured to move the body, electronic instrumentals face the challenge of having a meaningful connection with one’s feelings and thoughts. Reue has accepted the challenge and has so far demonstrated marvelous proofs of how EDM can be both danceable and touching.

Hailing from Texas, Ethan Reue Berdofe aka Reue, whose name has a pleasant pronunciation (roi-uh) to sound as tuneful as his resonating music, dropped “Enamor” in November to fit the coziness of the autumn, but it’s also a perfect match for hot, dynamic summers.

“Enamor” kicks off with an intro that sounds like an invitation to a ritual that, as it progresses, turns out to be a self-love embrace. Each layer is like unlocking a new door that takes you deeper into something: cosmic bonding, showering others with love, or getting closer to your authentic essence.

The overall sound is, as the title suggests, warm yet pumping, just like the first sting of love. It keeps you on your toes from start to finish; you never know how it will progress, and it’s not as repetitive as many electronic numbers. Reue isn’t just aiming to be featured in parties and workout playlists; he creates profound sonic landscapes that entice you to make up your own storyline, finding yourself no longer running on the ground but rather on a fluffy cloud to a mysterious place.

The bombastic composition of smarting synth, electrifying bassline and infectious beats offers a wrapped-in-grooves euphoria. How it slowly ends feels like the end of a magical, epic journey that your body and mind need to absorb. Throughout the song, you can hear how it was created with passion and executed to keep the listener physically and emotionally engaged and moved.

After listening for the first time, you’ll be captivated by the six-minute “Enamor” of sophisticated momentums that deserve to be at the top of house music charts and your house playlist.

Released on the 18th of November, this tune is a commercial pop one coming from Stockholm, Sweden. Eva is a Swedish translator and songwriter who will debut in 2019. Big Monster by Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L

Rapper Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L released a new energetic, rage-filled hip hop single “Big Monster” from Brooklyn, United States on the 25th of November.

I’ve covered Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L before on another release of his titled “Protocol” which was a moody and melancholic R&B track off his “R4” album, but “Big Monster,” his latest single is a whole different energy and vibe to what I’ve heard from the Brooklyn based rapper.

“Big Monster” hits HARD right from the start and doesn’t let the energy down for the entire length of the record. Fast tempo, harsh synths, and hard-hitting bass will keep your headbanging for two and a half minutes on repeat.

“You think this shit’s a game
You caused me all that pain”

Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L once again delivers sonic emotion and it hits like a bomb!

This time, I couldn’t resist feeling his rage over the wasted time and energy from what seemed to be a failed and consuming relationship. Brother, I feel you.

The catharsis from the energy and the anger in “Big Monster” is healing to listen and sing along, and the unique storytelling through Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L’s flows and rhymes capture mind, body, and soul.

Change The System by Julien Noma

0

DJ-Producer Julien Noma released a new dynamic progressive house single titled “Change The System” from Dubai, UAE on the 11th of November.

“Change The System” starts with a typical groovy EDM kick drum and bass for about 30 seconds before a deep brass synth hit like a warning horn before the tempest. Something bad is about to go down.  Could it be the rising global temperatures? Could it be the melting polar ice and shifting sea levels? Is our Earth truly in danger? Julien Noma is undoubtedly trying to warn us about something important.

“Change the system.”

We can hear the title of the track being whispered a few times before the first drop, which gives us a fairly solid hint about where the message is headed and what we’re supposed to do. The dynamic arrangement really shows here, as energy starts to build up, letting us feel like we’re in control. We have the power to change something.

“Stabilise.”

Another hint drops right after, making the message much clearer. Our behavior —as it is— is unsustainable for the future of our ecosphere. Perhaps that is why the cover art for “Change the system” is our beautiful blue marble.

I won’t spoil this 7-minute atmospheric piece anymore, so listen to “Change the system” yourself, and leave a comment if you have your own opinion on how we can improve our systems.

Kalėdų belaukiant by Yorige and Žemyna

0

Most Christmas carols have nearly the same peppy sound and bright spiritual vibe, but with Yorige and its Lithuanian folk, you’ll have an ethereal Christmassy atmosphere through the recent release, “Kalėdų belaukiant.”

People are obsessed with special things, such as items, places, and dates, so the most wanted to have a special memory on 12/12/2022, considering it remarkable. I don’t know if those who wished for this made it, but I know that the musical project “Yorige” has made the day their own by releasing their Christmas ballad, “Kalėdų belaukiant,” which means in English, “Awaiting Christmas.”

Yorige is singer-songwriter Aaron Fross and instrumentalist/producer Nix Bakx, who just started the collective at the beginning of this year with the release of their debut EP, “Motina.” The fresh “Kalėdų belaukiant” is their first release.

“Kalėdų belaukiant” draws its own heavenly spirit through all of the ingredients. It’s not the kind of holiday music that will make you bounce; it will rather make you sway peacefully while embracing its peaceful mood.

Aaron Fross has an angelic voice that, along with the soothing harmonies, creates a dream-like ambiance. Her vocals have both tenderness and melancholy. She delivers the simple lyric line that means “While waiting for Christmas, remember me; sit next to me,” offering coziness even when you don’t understand the language.

The musical composition presents the warm essence of Christmas; it’s not jumpy and perky, however; it’s heartfelt and celestially euphoric. The alt-folk is softly blended with some rock elements, giving the soulful rhythm more energy. It effortlessly constructed the serene soundscape and underpinned the moving vocals.

The song was written by Fross on the anniversary of her grandfather’s passing. Knowing this backstory, you’ll get why it has this sad taste to its all-over tranquility. I suppose we’ve all lost a loved one, which has made Christmas bittersweet, but it also makes us feel surrounded by their presence.

Enjoy the embodied sound of life in both of its light and dark colors in “Kalėdų belaukiant” and happy holidays!

It’s Okay by Karen Harding

0

Karen Harding is one of those singers that blur the lines between passionate vocals and strong techniques. In her latest single, It’s Okay, a lot of similarities and influences can be noted, but it amazed me how there was a great level of distinction preserved. To have the nasality of great belters like Dido show in the middle of her range was just a decoy, as the top of her vocal range is far away from the comfortable area she sang the first verse.

The moment the chorus kicks in, you could hear her voice in a more open and forward placement with one of the most beautiful and tender airy mixed vocals you will ever hear. In the middle of the verses, she ascends to higher notes that sound pure and clean while maintaining melody, which sets a prime example for other singers on how belting should be done. After the instrumental bridge, she does some head voice and sighs, as if to tell us that both her emotional capacity and vocal range have no end in sight. This brings me to the second merit I could feel in this song, which is the thoughtful writing That compliments Karen’s voice so well.

The dynamics of the vocal lines match certain transitions and additional sounds in the instrumental that make the song sound extra dreamy and passionate. The whole experience of “It’s Okay” can’t be summed up in one sentence, but if I tried to then I would call it a soothingly melancholic dream you wouldn’t wanna wake up from.
