Dead Man’s Tale by Jefferson Parish

0

The latest single from Jefferson Parish is called Dead Man’s Tale and it tells the story of two best friends traveling together and going on a crazy adventure together. Let’s dig deep and see what this single is all about.

Starting from the artwork, the title, and the first note in this piece you’ll be feeling the vibe. wearing your cowboy hat, your trench coat, and having your gun in hand, you’re the sheriff of this town and no one can break the law, or at least that’s what I felt while listening to this piece. With a very low tone on the vocals along with the funky chords and the unique choice in percussion, this song has it all. I loved the balance in style between the nostalgic and modern elements that this song is filled with. It’s not Old Town Road, but it’s not the theme from The Good The Bad, and The Ugly either. Parish knows exactly how much is too much when it comes to using a certain aesthetic, especially that it’s present in the song’s accompanying music video as well. When the reverb of the guitar solo hits you gotta know it will take you to a different dimension. A very nice treat to all generations if you ask me, I really loved it and I’m looking forward to hearing more from Jefferson in the future.

Liquid Soul by Frank Vitolo

0

A mixture and a fusion of past and future are emerging in the present, A new single released by the Jazz artist and M.A holder Frank Vitolo titled ‘Liquid Soul’.

The New Yorker, originally a Seattle resident released a brand new funk track with exciting saxophone melodies that Frank is famous for.

The track begins with inspiration from The Matrix’s “Mirror Scene”  which gives a vibe of a futuristic, techno sound, but Edan Krolewicz’s calm and soothing vocals along with the keys and synths.

Comes then the role of the awaited sound in this track, the melodic saxophone by Frank does it and presents the past classic sound and vibes it out on us to make a fusion with the melodic intro.

Frank Vitolo’s melodic keys which represent the future were introduced in the chorus along with the saxophone to create that fusion we are waiting for.

Edan’s vocals needed to have an epic psychedelic act to them to add that original funky vibe the track meant to deliver and have more sharpness to it.

Frank Vitolo’s Liquid Soul’ featured many artists in the project who were: Frank Vitolo – Tenor Saxophone & synth, Robert Papacica – Electric Guitar, Josh Farrell – Drums, Sawyer Adler – Electric Bass, Daniel Dale – Piano, Teddy Kingsbury – Piano, Olivia Hughart – Alto Saxophone, Calvin Sexton – Trombone, and Edan Krolewicz – Vocals.

More funky melodies to come from the -born with a sax in his mouth- artist, and he sure would use his wind instrument to speak his mouth.

Unbound by ANIMATE

0

Driven by his love for old-school 70s and 80s British bands, Italian singer/songwriter/guitarist Luigi Surdo formed his project Animate. Although they don’t usually release acoustic songs, the 8th of September marked Animate’s 1st acoustic release “Unbound”, a song was described by the artist as

“A song about life, about the experience, and a new beginning.”

1st thing that grabbed my attention is the natural yet neat production of “Unbound” which gave it a live-like feeling and brought its deeply emotional side into the very front. The simple raw acoustic guitar chords allowed the vocal melody to shine and take full control of the melody and flow that emotionally escalated at that touching brief electric guitar solo.

“Unbound” is a simple rock ballad that shows Animate’s good command of melody and writing skills without overdoing or complicating things. Looking forward to more from Animate, cheers!

Light A Fire by Cynthia Hammar

With three albums under her belt, Canadian singer/songwriter Cynthia Hamar teases her upcoming record “Joint & Marrow” that’ll be out via Neon Moon Records with the joyful folky single “Light A Fire”. Teaming up with her son Zadok Hamar alongside session musicians Chris Andrews, Jamie Cooper, Paul Johnston, and Joel Schwartz, Hammar managed to pull this inspiring piece urging us all to do our best and light a fire to help our dreams grow.

Cynthia Hammer’s “Light A Fire” intro got me swaying right from its country-influenced intro. Cynthia Hamar’s strongly expressive vocals kicks in breathing life, soul, and emotion into the music. I loved the groovy reggae twist at the chorus and how Hamar’s delivery gets more powerful with a playful touch that stays till the end of the song. The organ and piano progressions were impressive, as they start with some subtle melodies until each gets its moment to shine as the song progresses into a big beautiful outro where the dynamics skyrockets. “Light A Fire” is the perfect single that sets your expectations on fire for an upcoming album. It has smooth dynamics that softly keep on progressing in a super entertaining way. A fun well-written and performed tune that you should totally check out. Looking forward to “Joint & Marrow”, cheers Cynthia!

Needle in a Haystack by Mark Rosal

0

As he’s always been trying to share a part of his life journey with his fluid touching melodies and narrative catchy vocals, Canadian singer/songwriter Mark Rosal drops his latest expressive acoustic single  “Needle in a Haystack”

“Needle in a Haystack” projects a lot of bright vibes with its colorful melodies and Rosal’s joyful delivery. What grabbed my attention the most is how Mark Rosal sounds like he is really enjoying what he is doing and that made me enjoy it too. The warm guitars with the subtle organ, electric guitar, and piano in the background helped set the mood and frame the vocal melody and helped translate a lot of the lyrics’ emotions.

“Needle in a Haystack” shows a lot of Mark Rosal’s sense of melody and emotion and his skill in creating a catchy, simple, and entertaining vocal melody while writing and arranging the perfect fitting melodies to match it and push it forward. Looking forward to more from Mark Rosal, cheers!

Album: Deep Blue Sky by Paul Cogley

0

After being a part of the local music scene for years, sounds like the British-born, Seattle-based artist Paul Cogley is much more comfortable with his own solo releases. With his second record “Deep Blue Sky” out, Cogley experiments with lots of sounds and moods as well as personal and touching subjects that we all relate to, I believe we all need this record as Cogley described “Deep Blue Sky” as

“a guidebook on how to redeem yourself in this crazy world where we have all lost the plot a little.”

So, let’s dig deeper into it,

The record opens with an open sound and bright melodies on “Mr. Spaceman”. I loved its classic progressive/art rock approach that’s strongly present in its fluid mellow melodies and multi-layered structure. “What If It Were You” instantly became one of my favorites with its smooth fading-in intro, beautiful guitar tone, atmospheric synth, and unique bassline. It has bluesy melodies with a smooth organic progression topped by Paul Cogley’s warm deep voice that makes you want to listen more. “Lament” comes next with a simple structure and loads of emotions, its melancholic acoustic arpeggios will definitely hit a chord and make you reflect on many things. “Longing” picks up with “Lament’s” mood with a bigger sound and layering mixing synths with some Knopfler-style expressive guitar work and Cogley’s vocals. With a groovy upbeat melody comes “The Flimflam” shaking the dynamics of the record right at the perfect point. Its jazzy drums and groovy bass made it a super fun tune and I loved how improvisational the guitars sounded as he kept freely throwing licks and melodies here and there. Paul Cogley’s narrative vocal melody perfectly matched the open sound and dark melodies of “Everything Changes”. It has a subtle smooth flow of melodies that Cogley smartly used to express a sad story about modern-day relationship struggles in a way that he made the listener feel that heartache through his music. With a spacey intro “A Million Miles Away” starts showing Paul Cogley’s skills in experimenting with electronic elements. It keeps on progressing while keeping up with its mysterious vibes with a dark layer of anticipation added by the simple bow and string stroke. Cogley starts introducing new melodies and instruments slowly and neatly as we move forward in a subtle sense that gave the song an organic progression that just carries you effortlessly. “Who’s Keeping Score” steers the dynamics into a slower more heartfelt area once again but, in a totally different way. Its swaying percussions and bass mixed with violins and violas’ strong emotional melodies created a unique sound twist adding new elements to the “Deep Blue Sky” experience. There’s no better way to start a song called “Russian Doll” than the sound of a ballerina music box. “Russian Doll” has an overall uplifting mood with its escalating dynamics and sound that keeps on getting bigger and more open with every turn. “All The Love Inside” brings back the classic rock sound, the building-up intro takes us into a mellow verse that twists into a groovy catchy chorus, and towards the end, all this gets mashed up with atmospheric synths giving it a smooth perfect outro. “Pebble” is a fun tune with playful melodies and colorful sounds, adding a new flavor to the mix. Ends the record on a high note is the beautifully atmospheric “Epitaph”. It’s a simply structured piece with some well-written guitars and well-arranged and layered effects that sets the mood perfectly creating a melancholic piece that’s worthy of its name.

Paul Cogley’s “Deep Blue Sky” is a sound journey that you don’t want to miss. His unique mix of old-school progressive rock with electronic elements and synths while experimenting with new instruments shows a lot of character and creativity. It is a solid well-written and well-structured record that can easily get into your albums of the year list. Looking forward to more from Cogley, cheers!

Roots by Ankur

Sometimes when we’re lost and hard on ourselves for not finding a way, we need a reminder that the answer we want and the path we seek lie inside of us. Ankur’s “Roots” is the reminder that will take our hands through its vibrant, sincere ambiance and bring us to a peaceful place, to our cores.

With his RnB, Hip-Hop, and Pop fusion, the Sydney-based Hip-Hop artist creates music with an appealing, distinct sound to touch hearts and brighten up souls. His own vision of music is: “For me, music is a conscious journey through a dark place with a guiding light at the end of the tunnel; a hopeful place filled with warmth.” And he certainly applies it in his music, which makes it genuine and relatable.

“Roots” is his latest release, and it’s filled with shiny rays of hope, inspiration, and empowerment that are delivered by each element individually and collectively. It invites us to reach our essence, embrace it, and live our true selves. The heartening lyrics that tell us to “take it to the roots” capture our actions and the feelings that follow when we overly connect with the world and, in return, disconnect with ourselves and feel adrift. The beauty of lyricism is that it doesn’t only point out what’s wrong; it gives you the answer.

The vocal performance is outstanding and gives the desired energy.  The soulful chorus is delivered by Bronte Kolbe, whose mesmerizing, melodic vocals provide the song warmth. Ankur’s vocal line is passionate and harmonizes with the rhythm. He’s neatly conveying the message with devotion and power.

Not only is he a talented artist, but he is also real. Ankur cares about the quality of his music and how it can leave a mark and a positive impact on the listeners. That’s why you will connect with “Roots” instantly and find yourself eagerly anticipating more music from this innovative artist.

I Fell in Love by Sharl

0

The Melbourne-based emerging musician Sharl released her album “City Lights” in August with the lead single, “I Fell in Love,” which might trick you with its title and make you think it’s a love song. Well, it’s not, but it’s much better. It’s a genuine melancholic story, which Sharl tells through bright, spirited beats.

“I Fell in Love” is a surprising song because its title has half its truth, as the entire line is, “I fell in love with the wrong guy.” The Pop artist has excelled at making a song with all the elements precisely placed and structured to complement one another to give a lighthearted atmosphere and a meaningful message.

Sharl’s exquisite vocals are one of the elements that grab your attention and steal your heart effortlessly. She has a delicate, soothing tone that delivers hard lyrics with ease. Her performance can alter and show both vulnerability and power depicted in different verses.

Lyrically, the single portrays the dark side of falling in love, which is falling for the wrong person, who can hurt, manipulate, and make life much harder. However, the story takes a powerful turn, and the artist is able to rediscover herself thanks to the people who surrounded her and her strong self.

The musical composition is as authentic as the entire theme; it blends both gloomy and upbeat vibes, matching the vocals and lyrics. It gives the feeling of shaking the dust off and standing tall again. It’s innovative and touching, with perfect usage of both acoustic and electric elements.

The song’s sincere, distinct sound reached the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition, and it comes with a video that gained several awards on the film festival circuit. The video is real, warm, and moving. It has splendid footage, and its colors are selected wisely. It’s the first time for the gifted musician to share her visual artistic vision. Working with director George Tsotsos, she was able to create a work of art that entices you to watch and admire every second of every scene.

Let’s hope to hear more from the unique artist and that no one falls for the wrong person again, but if you did, the outstanding song below would comfort you.

Spacesuit by Crosstik

0

With our daily hustles, we try to find any sort of escapism to breathe and recharge, then go back to whatever we need to do. Crosstik has created the ideal one for us. It’s not a few minutes of temporary joy, it’s a soundscape that takes us places far from this planet, and luckily, he got us a “Spacesuit.”

The high-flyer producer, Connor Daily, AKA Crosstik, located in Phoenix, is not an artist who walks at a steady pace or even on a track that someone has walked before. From a drummer in punk rock bands to distinguishing himself in the electronic music realm, he’s creating his own path and keeps leaping and bouncing high with his cosmic sound.

His latest track, “Spacesuit,” sets a perfect example of where he’s at as a talented and creative producer. It’s a five-minute track that feels like a gate to another magical world, or even better, a superior place in our world. I usually don’t have trouble finding the right word, but I can’t pick one to describe this track and its blended, unusual sound, as if it needs a non-earthy word to match its spatial vibe.

“Spacesuit” is inspired by the spiritual American teacher, Ram Dass. The lyrics, arrangement, vocal performance, and even the artwork are all aligned to give that miraculous, ethereal atmosphere. The lyrics aren’t completely rhymed, which is not essential but makes them catchier when rapping. However, it felt more genuine this way, and it leaves you soaring with the significant, soulful writing itself, and the peak vocal delivery managed to polish it anyway.

One of the most enticing and perfection-setting elements in this track is Modern Creature’s vocals. He’s an old friend of Crosstik. And his rich, exquisite performance added depth to the single. He makes each bar flow naturally with the beats and takes us on a spacy twirl in the chorus.

Crosstik has no boundaries when it comes to genres. He has a remarkable sound and a signature that won’t be found anywhere else. With his musical prowess, you’ll be listening and feeling that your eyes are being exposed to different dimensions. He’s not just putting down some kicks, drops, and claps; he creates a sonic landscape that takes you on a journey only he knows its destination. And if anything can portray this track’s effects, it’s this verse:

“Crosstik has plotted the grid a fire has been lit.

Bright enough to rip the spirit out of this endless darkness.

With the essence of joy translated into sound.”

Transparent by Galactic Fuzz

0

Back in 2019, Javier Guell (Guitar/Songwriting/Lead vocals/Keys) decided to take his passion for singing to the next level by teaming up with Jorge García (Bass) and Ricardo Mere (Drums) forming Galactic Fuzz. Galactic Fuzz mixes up the trio’s influences from grunge to alternative, punk, brit pop, and psychedelia into a unique sound that’s their very own. They are set to release their debut self-titled record on the 28th of October, 2022, and to spice things up, released its lead single “Transparent” on the 26th of August so, let’s see how it sounds!

“Transparent” opens with a fuzzy groovy riff that’s dipped in bright pop melodies with an unexpected layer of psychedelia summing its whole essence. It has an interesting guitar progression that flows smoothly with dynamic melodies keeping up with some pretty jazzy enjoyable drumming in an escalating structure that keeps you hooked throughout the whole song, especially when we reach the exploding solo point.

“Transparent” is one hell of a debut single by Galactic Fuzz, it shows a lot of character and creativity fueled by an obvious will for experimentation, made me look forward to their future single and debut record for sure, cheers!
