Rarely have you found songs like this that carry strong satire at epic proportions, with Sam Feinstein’s latest hit single “Chasing the Bull” being a strong example, as it targets crypto and NFT scams that have become more common since 2020.
Feinstein embodies the character of a two-faced con artist who tries to lure the get-rich-quick listener into his latest cryptocurrency, running him with his signature wit and humor through the track against a backdrop of jazz that creates a sweet funky atmosphere.
In “Chasing the Bull” we can hear Feinstein sound like he’s singing at home. Raspy and low, he pushes it in seconds to the limit in Tom Waits style, with sudden changes in range and sound effects.
“Chasing the Bull” begins with an invitation that slowly brings us closer and closer to the madness itself. Feinstein’s voice and signature music pull us in, and as the track goes on, its coherent narrative loses all meaning and becomes garbled sound effects, reflecting the gimmicks he critiques.
This condition is also contagious in music. As you begin with solid rhythm and harmonic patterns, the track begins to disentangle itself with each chord vibrating. By the end of the track, we feel as if each machine has gotten out of hand and has taken its course. Solos fill our eardrums in a very exciting and wonderful way.
Sam Feinstein is a California-based singer-songwriter. He performed in various bands. His music has a very personal and creative style. And his songs are inspired by the stories of villains.
I liked “Chasing the Bull” because it is a musical satire in the truest sense of the word, made right by Sam Feinstein and created a track full of strong notes in words and music. If you want to hear this experience for yourself, prepare well because it will attract you to the wonderful world of music.
David J just released his latest project with a fresh and interesting approach; why produce new music when you can revisit old ones and revive them? “The Renditions” project is only part one of an upcoming two-part project where he remixed and reinterpreted two singles released back in 2020 “A little too much” and “Prom King”. The LA and NY- based artist’s undeniable passion for music peaked when he played Mariah Carey’s “Without You” and since then he decided to go on his journey of musical exploration. The singer, songwriter, and producer believes that imperfections are what make everything exceptionally unique in its special way. He tries to promote the message of acceptance of one’s identity and self while embracing all the flaws and imperfections that accompany it through his music.
“A Little Too Much” is the first track in the project, it starts with an upfront vocal line accompanied by an interesting keyboard progression that doesn’t end with a cadence but leads us to the first verse of the song that is accompanied by seductive vocals giving the song a strong foundation. The song shifts moods by adding different elements, taking you from one place to the next, later the violins’ sound is added giving the track a sense of sophistication. It is interpretive, authentic and the perfect song to dance a lyrical, modern dance piece along.
Followed by the 2nd track “Prom King” which is a light song that you can enjoy on an evening ride, a song that is a perfect fit for the romantic, modern couple.
It would be quite interesting if you listen to both versions of each song and enjoy the evolution of the artist’s talent, thoughts, and emotions.
It’s always refreshing when a piece of music starts somewhere that’s not exactly promising, and then proceeds, along its runtime, to win you over and eventually leave a mark in your mind when it ends.
Flatfoot Sam is Jon Hannan, a Southampton native who has been in the business since the late 90s. The business is making experimental and electronic music in the vein of The Prodigy and Massive Attack. This amount of time sure means a lot of experience, and it shows.
This song, titled Boathouse, is intended as a single off of Hannan’s album that’s in the making. It’s a deep, chill, and driving tune with a ton of color and character. Flatfoot Sam calls this music “Tripfield”, saying it falls somewhere between trip-hop and leftfield.
The song is expertly produced, driving with throbbing bass lines and melodic synths. Generally airy in nature, saturated with pads the song creates a vibe of soaring in speed above the clouds, and while it starts in a docile way, featuring what sounds like a cliched chord progression, it quickly introduces a number of really interesting elements that easily elevate it past the realm of cliche. A major element of those is the vocals. Two separate lines, a female that sings in what sounds like Indian to my ear, and a male voice that sings in what sounds like an African language, both of them are gently processed and altered in a tasty way that makes them float above their surroundings and generally sound very intriguing and catchy.
A craftsman is someone who’s able to make something extraordinary from ordinary materials, and on this song Flatfoot Sam takes a cliche progression, a number of frequently used synth sounds, and a familiar breakbeat with an equally familiar bass line and blends them together to create something that’s truly intriguing, unique, and fun.
Eric Hanson, who was born in Las Vegas in the mid-1960s, developed an early interest in music and recording, which he nurtured all the way through his formal piano studies. Once dismissed as a “hobby,” the result of its creator’s forty-plus years of songwriting and recording is now available to the public.
His new politically loaded new tune, “Globalist Pricks,” is out now on Spotify. His musical tastes range widely and include Pink Floyd, Elton John, the Alan Parsons Project, Brian Ferry, and David Bowie.
The artist asserts that the jovial indie-pop song is his playful response to the flagrant abuses of civil liberties and the damage to essential medical liberty and lives by a group of wealthy individuals behind an initiative to impose regulations on unconventional treatments misleadingly labeled as sufficiently trialed vaccines that have since been shown to have a negative value in potency and dismal medical outcomes.
This single features distinctively melodic music that is paired with engaging lyrics that deliver an honest message to everyone listening to it.
A young and talented artist got into a totally different melody in his music and voice “Tom Orlando” based in Ottawa, CA. Tom has been told to never get into singing, he took in rap and went along with several awesome releases, but this time he took a different route that has a different vibe with his new release “On Repeat” which was out on the 13th of June, 2022.
The song has melodious beats that will move you through the music, he adds in his singing voice that is so different than his rapping voice in any of his previous songs. “On Repeat” gives a Hawaiian vibe that you can never get fed up with this song from listening to it all day.
However, it talks about the heartbreak of a loved one who went away and live with a different guy, but aside from that the song really gives some cool vibes that you can dance to.
The lyric video on youtube that was released almost a month ago, which got a cool simple few sketchings that shows exactly the story of this song.
Tom is a creative artist who I believe can do both singing and rap in his music career and will work it out in his own unique way. He also connects perfectly to his fans through his lyrics and melodies perfectly which is worth looking forwards to his next future releases.
Sky Olson is an up-and-coming artist with a very distinctive sound and well-curated, catchy melodies. The Utah-based artist started releasing his music in 2021 and he already has his fans and a dedicated number of 3.2K monthly listeners hooked. With so many singles already released and more than one album, the artist’s numbers are on the rise with no intention of slowing down soon. His latest single released earlier this year “Oxygen” got over 115K streams on Spotify only, even his previous releases have high streaming numbers like “People Fade” and “Broken Time Machine” with 44K and 32K streams, respectively. He also managed to win twice the John Lennon Songwriting contest because of his undeniable talent and was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition.
Olson just dropped his latest single “Cruise Control” 3 days ago and it’s already at 3.5K streams on Spotify. The song has a chill, relaxed vibe with breathable vocals and a swinging beat. The song starts with a sweet guitar tune that just dominates the song in the most subtle and unclear way, it manages to catch your attention with minimal effort, and it answers back beautifully to the vocal line with a jazzy attitude. The lyrics are simple and authentic, drawn from the artist’s life experiences and raw emotions.
Sky Olson is planning on releasing more singles soon and performing more live shows with his current 5-member band, make sure to check his Instagram for his latest releases and announcements.
When you label music ‘experimental’, you give it space to become anything you want it to be. akilbeatsdenver wants it to be medicine.
akilbeatsdenver is the moniker for a Commerce City, Colorado-based programmer and electronic music producer. On his debut full-length as the sole composer and arranger and producer after years of collaborative work, he has a solid concept that’s simple and effective. “Music is Medicine”, and by naming every single song after a different vitamin, Akil beats Denver hopes to spark conversations about physical as well as mental and spiritual health.
The formula is quite direct. Twenty songs of similar length and generally similar vibes, wordless, named after a Vitamin, and sets a particular mood. The general direction is toward low-tempo Jazz, with electronic drum machine beats and layers upon layers of airy, lush synths. The musical ideas are varied but the execution is cohesive, with rich and crystalline production all the way through the 1-hour runtime of the LP. With an album of this nature and length, I believe it wasn’t intended by the artist to create any specific standout moments of prodigal musical talents or outstanding performances. The pieces are entirely electronic and all futuristic and were meant, in my humble opinion, to be played as background music for spas or wellness centers. That’s of course not to deduce an ounce from the producer’s efforts and his clear-as-day ability to craft music that’s perfectly suited for that use.
Generally, for an album of this length, it flew away pretty quickly, and with considerable ease. The musical atmospheres were welcoming and comforting, and the compositions were interesting but also digestible. A very accessible listen that’s as soothing as it is expertly crafted.
Philly-based solo indie artist Jackson Vincent released his new EP “Normal Tension”. It’s a 6-song Ep, 18 minutes and 23 seconds of what’s described by Vincent as “music for ghosts”. Though Vincent is under the Indie Folk genre category, he is far from being constrained to only one genre! He is a genre-bender, with his songs ranging from indie to grunge to rock and so on. He cannot be tied down to one genre!
In the first song on his new EP and my personal favorite “Roving Soul”, the lyrics are super touching, “I don’t want to die, I just want to fly” really touched me. I especially liked when the drums started slowly making their way into the song, and it got a bit more intense. This entire song radiates M83 vibes and I am absolutely in love. The second fav of mine is Old Dog, yet another song with amazing lyrics and a lowkey beat, Vincent really knows how to write good songs! Another favorite of mine, and for good reason is “Youth”. The beginning is so melancholic yet so calming, Vincent’s vocals were so raw. A lyric that really touched me in this song is “You don’t love your youth until you’re old” which I guess is a universal experience for everyone once they reach a certain age. This song was just 4 minutes and 8 seconds of gloomy goodness.
All in all, I absolutely loved Vincent’s new EP, and despite not being a part of my favorite genre, Vincent was able to break the stereotype of belonging to just one genre and was able to experiment with a lot more. I think this EP of his is sure to put him on the map, and get him recognized for his touching lyrics and universal experiences.
