Bop (Ur a No-Good Badger) with Amuka by DJ Industrial Badger

It’s not every day you come across a talented artist who hits it off brilliantly the way this artist did. DJ industrial Badger’s original music releases started only last year but the artist has over 30 years of experience in the field since he started as a club DJ in the late 80s.

Every single the artist released since last year has hit incredibly high numbers; starting with ‘Bop’ which reached over 87K streams on Spotify to his latest release “Bop Late Night Slap Your Badger Mix” which went viral overnight with no intention or even planning from the artist’s side. The song emerged from the artist’s questions about life and shifted perspective after the passing of his stepfather, so he released the song for testing and to receive feedback but to his surprise, after heading back from the funeral he noticed the number of streams increasing and reaching 1M in just a few hours. The track is sexy, flirtatious, and so well-curated that it just sounds professional and rich in texture. It’s an upbeat track with unique hype and a very catchy motif that gets you hooked from just a few seconds in.

It simply builds up beautifully till it peaks, leaving you in a light, dance mood. After the huge success, Industrial Badger collaborated with Sheila Brody of Amuka, the Brides of Funkenstein, George Clinton, Funkadelic, Parliament, and Rick James to release a version of the song with a full vocal line, he saw how Sheila added the right amount of sass, attitude, and talent to the song. The song is released under the artist’s own independent record label and has remixes with Trey Pearson, Mickie Baby, Dolly Parton, Murphy, and The Kid Brothers. We simply can’t wait to see what’s next for this remarkable artist!!

The Cream of Portland’s Gourmet Set by Step Into the Kitchen

0

It’s OK to ask what’s happening from one time to another, which is what I found myself doing (more than one) listening to this. Being repetitively surprised during the span of a single song is truly an achievement that’s equally difficult and rare

Step Into the Kitchen is a Portland-based gem of a band. Fearlessly diving into experimental, psychedelic, and freak folk on songs with majestic names such as ‘The Cream of Portland’s Gourmet Set’… truly exceptional. This song belongs more in the psychedelic branch of their operations.

Falling somewhere between the Caribbean and Mediterranean, the tremolo-picked Mandolins and Reggae beats are a delightful combo that’s truly novel to my ears. While wordless, this song isn’t voiceless; being dominated by lush layers of melodic, youthful chants that sit in the forefront of the mix. Cut mostly into 2 sections, that play the roles of light… and more light. Near the 2-minute mark, the song morphs into an all-new thing that’s majestic and tribal. Beautifully composed and performed with love and intention. Don’t miss the playful bassline that pulls all the strings from the background.

Songs composed, produced, and mixed with this much purpose and intention are a force to be reckoned with. While, admittedly, I can’t suggest that freak psych folk is the world’s most popular genre, I also can’t see why anyone wouldn’t be able to enjoy such an energetic, playful, expertly crafted piece of lush, culturally confusing music. Thanks for the refreshing confusion, guys! Keep ‘em coming.

Guru’s Greatness: Guru Brahma by Sarves Thiru

A performer and composer residing in London, Sarves Thiru has made it her mission to use music as a vehicle to foster happiness, compassion, and healing in the world. Sarves was born in Malaysia and raised there. From an early age, she had training in Carnatic music. Now, she combines her training in this classical style with various types of music from across the world to produce exquisite songs and chants. The religious songs that Sarves writes draw their motivation from her love of music as well as her interest in meditation and healing. Together, these two passions of hers, when combined, act as a wellspring of originality for her.

Thiru’s mellow and entrancing debut single “Guru’s Greatness: Guru Brahma” generates an inexhaustible sense of peace and inner tranquility in the listener. The melody of Sarves’s mystical singing generates equal amounts of inspiration and happiness.

The ethereal tone of Sarves Thiru’s music has the capability to relax and soothe, as well as raise one’s consciousness so that they may confront their own inner conflict and achieve peace. This magnificent tune is now available on Spotify.

Interview With Taylor B-W

Was “Tears of Coal” written with any specific musicians or songs in mind?

Yes, I specifically had Aussie Pop/R&B/Folkronica artists in mind, such as Vera Blue and Jarryd James. Plus, I wanted to write a poetic song, inspired by 90s songwriters like Björk and Thom Yorke.

What do you want your listeners to take away from your music?

Honesty.
Also, at the moment, I love creating songs that have layers too – on the outside, it is a polished production, but when you listen carefully, the lyrics create a whole story and deeper meaning.

Do you remember the exact moment you came to the conclusion that making music is what you wanted to do?

Absolutely I do. It was when I randomly entered myself into an International ‘Battle-of-the-Bands’ style competition, Emergenza. Having never performed my original songs in public before, I was amazed that I kept getting through each stage of the competition until I ended up winning the entire Australian segment! I was then flown over to Germany to perform at the International finals, where I came fourth and won ‘Best Singer’! I returned home to Sydney with a new lease on my music life and I haven’t looked back since!

Who is the primary creative force behind your music video? What are the current plans for the music video for “Tears of Coal“?

The primary creative force is Ben Montague of Moose Visuals. We have worked together on a previous music video before (‘Nunchucks’) and I knew his amazing film-making and cinematography skills would beautifully depict the craziness that love can be. So we came up with a thematic, dissociative concept using light patterns and experimental editing to convey how love is messy and scary sometimes.

I’ve just released a BTS of ‘Tears Of Coal’, plus it is the last single from my upcoming EP that I cannot wait to announce soon!

Tears of Coal by Taylor B-W

Taylor B-W, renowned as Sydney’s Pop/R&B diva, has just added a new potent and soulful song to her discography. In the aftermath of her, Reggaeton flavored, electro-pop smash “In Ur Net,” she released her single “Tears of Coal.” Her past work was largely influenced by the carefree and bouncy pop of the ’90s, but her latest single has a far more sombre tone. “Tears of Coal” is a lively look at one’s mindful attitude when navigating a new relationship. The song features a folk-electronic vibe that also pays tribute to 1990s composers such as Bjork. Ben Montague of Moose Visuals, who also directed Taylor’s clip for the song “Nunchucks” in 2021, has created an intriguing music video for the song, which is being released alongside the song.

Through the use of her piercing alto vocals, Taylor has taken a song that once sounded somewhat vintage and turned it into a modern-day pop classic. It brings to mind contemporary musicians like Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande, both of whom were influenced by similar R&B sounds of the 1990s.

Whether you favor electronic music or more traditional pop, Taylor’s sound is universally attractive, and her enchanting alto vocals will certainly captivate anyone who enjoys music. Taylor’s new track is now available on Spotify.

Interview With Gxbriel

0

Gabriel Caceres is a rapper, a creative lyricist, and, at times, a producer who goes by the moniker Gxbriel. She makes music to express herself and get influenced by female empowerment. She’s been in the musical realm writing songs since 2015 but joined the music industry and started releasing her singles in 2021.

It’s always a pleasure to meet emerging artists and talk about how they got here and where they want to go. We’ll chat with Gxbriel about her musical journey thus far, her ambition, and her latest single, “Too Pretty,” which we reviewed.

Interview Questions

  • You’ve said in your EPK: “I’ve always been confident, but never showed that side in a song before.” Why now, deciding on showing it in your single “Too Pretty”? What inspired you to create it?

GX: There were a lot of songs coming out around the time I was beginning to write for my second project where the artist was talking their shit, so I wanted to do the same!

  • You wrote the lyrics to “Too Pretty” and the producer X.O made its beat. What came first, the lyrics or the music?

GX: I was looking at different beats online and found this specific track. After listening to the song I started to form images in my head and then the lyrics came to mind. It took me a couple of hours to write this song.

  • “Too Pretty is a fusion of Experimental, Dark-Pop, and Hip-Hop. Would you say that blend is your sound or that you’re up to trying other genres?

GX: I would say my sound is a mixture of Pop and Hip-Hop all around and then some songs go into different subcategories of the main ones, so that is exciting.

  • It must feel great to express yourself boldly! Can you tell us more about the recording process? Did any amusing incidents happen?

GX: The recording process was really fun! I was with my engineer, “Cloud D” , just having a good time. I just got out of work and went to his studio and hit the road running. I recorded two other songs the same night and we were just having a blast laughing at the bars and appreciating it in its entirety.

  • You began releasing singles in 2021, even though you’ve been writing songs since 2015. What held you back and set your starting point in 2021?

GX: To be honest, I was not confident in my own ability to get behind a mic and have words flow out. I was in a group, AJ6, with my friends air-is-ay and Jazzy Blaze in 2020. During this time period, I was able to find my voice and begin solo work in the wintertime of 2020.

  • You’ve been writing songs since 2015, but what drew you to music in the first place?

GX: Music has always been my number one escape from reality. As I was growing up, I realized that writing songs to help cope with whatever I was dealing with helped a lot.

  • Female empowerment motivates you. Which female artists do you find inspiring in this field?

GX: I would say some of the females that inspire me in this field are Megan Thee Stallion, Monaleo, and Jazzy Blaze.

  • If you could collaborate with another artist, who would you choose and why?

GX: Right now as I am going through heartbreak and sadness, I would love to work with Taylor Swift. She is amazing at capturing feelings in a song and making it last eternally.

  • Finally, what are your plans for the rest of 2022 and how do you picture your future?

GX: I am starting the rollout process for my next project! The lead single and opening track for my next project will be out on July 29! The song is titled “Cold” and it’s an open letter to the boy who broke my heart earlier this year. It’s probably one of my personal, walls down songs.
