Award-Winning UK Artist Kwun Releases New Single on March 3rd!

0

UK Artist Kwun follows on from his debut single with a new single, ‘Ancient Ageless & True’, out on the 3rd of March and the second track to be released from his forthcoming album of the same name.

After a staggering 13 nominations and wins for his debut track and music video Supernatural, UK artist, songwriter and producer Kwun releases his sophomore single Ancient Ageless & True’ on the 3rd of March 2023.

The words for ‘Ancient Ageless & True’ emerged during a powerful session with a shaman in the Andes Mountains of Peru, allowing the lyrics to flow from a heightened state of awareness. The music was later added, culminating in what is now a universal love song. Theres a particular resonance, beauty and simplicity to the lyrics that have affected listeners very profoundly: I know now your love is ancient, ageless and true / I died a thousand deaths today, just to get closer to you.

The Eagles-inspired track was recorded by Kwun in his former hometown of Glastonbury, UK, working remotely in collaboration with a stellar line-up of studio musicians from Nashville who work alongside Keith UrbanTaylor Swift, and Johnny Cash. The track is mixed by UK engineer Sam Wheat (Pharrell WilliamsThe Rolling StonesAmy Winehouse), and the accompanying live music video features UK musicians who have worked with Led ZeppelinAnnie Lennox and Peter Gabriel.

Kwuns music and its message is often informed by his involvement in the Healing Arts and explorations into Consciousness. In 2021, Kwun started dividing his time between the UK and Tulum, Mexico, seeking inspiration for his music in Tulum’s electrifying atmosphere. He records his music using 432Hz tuning, which is a frequency that aligns with both nature and the human body, as opposed to the commonly used 440Hz standard.

The singer-songwriter and producer is at the cutting edge of a movement of conscious artists leading the way into a New Paradigm. His eclectic repertoire skilfully moves between personal and universal themes, weaving a rich tapestry of styles that include Rock, Americana, Funk and all the spaces in between.

Ancient Ageless & True’  is the title track from the forthcoming album of the same name, which is due for release later in 2023.

Home Again by Anthony Benjamin

0

Feel the freedom and golden rays of sunshine on a spring day with artist Anthony Benjamin’s warm and comforting song ‘ Home again’, dropping on the 2nd of February from London, UK. An electro-pop song, home again is like drifting into your safest place or happiest memory, in the form of sound bites. Anthony thinks that the remedy to existing in this world is music, and we think he does a great job at making us feel like we can conquer just about anything.

This song is top-notch quality and a much-needed boost of hope and optimism as we approach the new year with new challenges and issues to face. Anthony reminds us with his thoughtful lyrics and warm tune that it is possible to pass through what seems to be impossible. That’s the great thing about music, it’s a bridge between the possible and impossible. The song’s overall sound is freeing and chirpy, with a very reassuring tone. The song is slow and kind of reminds us of Christmas from the jingly beat. There is a soft high-note piano, sweet and light acoustic guitar, clapping, shaking, and mellow drums. The lyrics are cheerful and the vocals are very lighthearted. It’s a  really happy place in this song.

Wild by Hannah Dorman

0

Everything is sweet, pink, red, and glittery when it comes to the love world of pop artist and songwriter Hannah Dorman based in Surrey, UK. On the 10th of February, Hannah will have released a stunning and catchy commercial pop song that is much more tasteful than your normal pop tunes, called ‘Wild’, the perfect song for your valentines day feels this year. The song is co-written with Ivon Roperts. This is going to be Hannah’s first single this year out of her many successful previous songs, with her streaming number on Spotify as high as 1 million. Hannah is also a great content creator with a strong Tik Tok fanbase

For a pop song, this one is a hundred out of ten because we’re so bored of the same loop and the same beat pop artists usually do these days. Hannah defies the stagnant pop movement with her style and taste in her musical choices and making. Sugary, flirty, and full of confidence, this song will be so contagious as you start listening to it. It’s basically a song of appreciation to a good lover. The overall sound of the song is bubbly, flirtatious, and lively. The musical arrangement is rich and dynamic. The soundscape is a medium-paced pop tune that has a groovy, electric guitar on a loop and a little synthy and fun sound effects that create a lot of texture with the different types of vocals Hannah does. This is a completely cool pop sound, and the melody is flirtatious and sexy. The drums stabilize the pace, and the vocals are just so angelic, strong, and teasing to the listener. It shows that Hannah’s personality is outgoing and charismatic indeed. Tune in as soon as the song hits your music platform.

Gas Station Bouquet by Naia Lika

Debut Vibrant R&B Love Song “Gas Station Bouquet” by upcoming artist Naia Lika

Pop artist Naia Lika will release her upcoming vibrant R&B funk single “Gas Station Bouquet” on the 10th of February from Los Angeles, United States.

Naia Lika is a young artist based out of Los Angeles who is now stepping into the music industry with her first release debut release “Gas Station Bouquet”, a vibrant love song that’s down to earth and fun to listen to.

The melodies of “Gas Station Bouquet” are catchy… I mean, they are really catchy! The vocals on the hook and chorus are not easy to sing, but they are some of the most memorable earworms you can hear in a pop song. I could not stop hearing Naia Lika’s voice in my ears after listening to the song.

Being a longtime fan of Doja Cat myself, I can’t help but find some parallels between the two artists. Both have a vibrant, yet calm and playful delivery in their unique vocal styles, and the music is similar in energy and funk influence. Naia Lika still brings her own unique flavor with her style of impressive harmonies and vocal runs throughout “Gas Station Bouquet”.

“Gas Station Bouquet” does not fall short on production quality either. Everything sounds above and beyond the industry standards, with super funky guitars, drums, electric bass, and horns that fit the whole mood of the track. Nothing in the production of “Gas Station Bouquet” is understated or exaggerated.

If this is only the upcoming artist Naia Lika’s first release, I can’t imagine what she holds in store for the future.

Wish Somebody Told Her by Georgia Hoareau

0

A release of solid gold from this Gold Coast singer/songwriter that despite its short length, takes us on a healthy coming-of-age journey with pristine production, spectacular lyrics, and most importantly, dazzling vocal performances from a highly talented up-and-coming artist which is already turning heads, and creating a lot of anticipation.

Wish Somebody Told Her is the title of Georgia Hoareau’s long-anticipated debut EP. Georgia  is an Australian whose brand of bedroom pop has been gathering a lot of attention with her previously released singles, sensible when you consider her mature lyrics that defy her age, and her songwriting which turns out songs that are at once relatable, dramatic, and incredibly catchy, and her voice which is quite simply sublime.

Composed of 5 short and sweet tracks, the EP kicks off on the right foot with the previously released GIRL. An introduction to Georgia’s rich lyrical themes that show amazing maturity, her sophisticated style of colorful, melancholic pop, her wide-reaching voice, and her masterful control over it. The clean production adds a ton of value to the already precious songwriting, so we find tight and punchy drums, imaginative and varied guitars, and a warm, rich mix that places all elements exactly where they belong, which are tropes that we’ll see are constants throughout the songs, lending this release a cohesive and solid sound that does not stop being exciting and well executed, regardless of the style, which also varies greatly throughout the songs. For example, the second song, In The End, is a slow burner that features lulled vocals from Georgia, in her most intimate and touching delivery on the album. The song eventually reaches a climax, but it comes in the shape of hypnotic clapped rhythms and a minimal, hazy arrangement that stuns with its simplicity and immediacy.

Oh Well compensates for the previous song’s lack of rocking drums by starting out with a powerful punk-pop intro. A jubilant and bright coming-of-age journey that features a charismatic and effortless performance from Georgia that remains composed while the whole arrangement jumps and dances all over the place behind her in a display of masterful restraint and efficiency that’s just so very cool. The bold and loud guitars are beautiful and playful, the drums are punchy and hard-hitting, and Georgia’s final acceptance of her growing up is heartwarming, and the abrupt ending leaves us high and dry, before rewarding us by making us at our lowest and wettest with 4 Minutes Away, my undisputed favorite track off the album. This song’s warm acoustic tendencies, airiness, the pure soul that Georgia displays in the chorus, which oozes with melancholy and character, along with the imaginative, melodic guitars, all contribute to making this song’s prolonged chorus one of the most rewarding musical passages, not only on the album but in my entire recent memory. An absolute showstopper.

Georgia Houreau’s debut did not disappoint. A short collection of songs written, performed, arranged, and produced to ridiculously high standards of quality. Georgia is extremely talented and quite frankly seems like a wholesome, cool person. I’d be on the lookout for much more from her, as her brand of pop is simply too beautiful, sophisticated, and in touch with reality.

Same by Said Sara

0

The latest track from Said Sara is entitled “Same” and it’s one of those projects that you can call dark pop or alternative pop, because of how it’s accessible yet has an eccentric and unique style.

The song begins with an acoustic guitar chord progression that feels a little bright, but it’s accompanied by husky and melancholic vocals. The vibes are folk-ish yet ominous and dark here, and it’s an amazing mix that’s done seamlessly and effortlessly.

A special refrain plays as if it’s a pre-chorus, then the second verse begins with vocals that are stronger and more gut-punching than the first verse.

The chorus/chorus-like section repeats on the guitar, and then the backing vocals join in on the action to add the main vocal layer in an epic way that gave me instant goosebumps once I heard it. It was totally unexpected, but it didn’t take away from the intimacy and the feeling of personal struggle that the vocals are sung with.

The highlight of the song for me is the highly harmonious part with the vocals that are followed by the special guitar line. I really love it when the vocal range of a singer can evoke a spectrum of emotions much bigger than the sum of its parts. This isn’t simply a side project or a unidimensional acoustic track, but rather a different musical direction that David Benson has ventured into with full force and majestic emotional delivery.

Filtered Gems EP by The Dust Collectors

0

The Dust Collectors take us on a nostalgic ride with their debut alternative country EP “Filtered Gems”. With Matt Easton on lead vocals and lead guitar, Luke Giblin on rhythm guitar, and mandolin, and shares lead vocal duty with Matt, Steve Rozitis on bass and backing vocals, and Scott Stolee on drums and backing vocals. After years of playing in different bands independently, casual night jamming sessions brought them together where they felt their undeniable chemistry and coherence right away. This encouraged them to start working on a demo EP in 2018 and play shows in their home city of Calgary.

“Filtered Gems” is a self-produced EP consisting of 6 songs, recorded with Pat Palardy at Public Lunch Studios in Calgary. The band showcases its ability to fuse different styles and genres making each song unique and offering something new to the listener. Matt and Luke add to this diversity with each having a flawless voice with different timbres. Alternating lead vocals throughout the EP fit each song perfectly with melodic and catchy vocals. With backing vocals in each song that add depth and harmonies to the lead vocals.

The lyrics are poetic and well-written, with a compelling storytelling element that paints a full picture for the listener to enjoy.

They open the EP with “Take a Dive” an up-beat acoustic guitar accompanied by a hurdy-gurdy and strings in the background and grounded by a thumping bass and drums groove creating a “boot-stomping sea-shanty-inspired” vibe that forces the listener to dance along. “Murder, I Wrote” is a story about “boy meets girl, girl leaves boy, boy buries girl in the back forty” that instantly gives an old western movie vibe. With mandolin, melodic guitar licks, warm vocals, backing vocals, country bass, and drums groove and highlighted by a one-strum lead guitar lick that feels like a bullet ricochet. With their third song, “Dandelion,” the band is able to capture a sad heartbreak atmosphere, with downbeat Americana guitar, bass, and drums, groovy sprinkled with emotional violin. “Old No. 9 Train” speaks to the fact that sometimes it can be difficult to confront our own truths and accept ourselves for who we are, in an old-school country ambiance. “Better Times” has a theme of perseverance and hope where the band comes all together in “four-part harmonies singing” over an acoustic guitar and a harmonizing mandolin. The Dust Collectors deliver an EP that is both musically and lyrically engaging. ‘Filtered Gems’ is a must-listen for any fan of folk and country.

The Devil’s Calling by Dax

0

From Witchita, finally, someone says it frankly and spoke themselves out. Daniel “Dax” C Nwosu the emerging rapper breaks out against the waves of devil worshipping and atheism trendy music.

Dax releases “The Devil’s Calling” in a somewhat religious form after suffering sleep paralysis and prevailing is the story Dax is telling in his journey inspired in his sleep.

A battle with the devil in every shape is what Dax‘s verses are about, or it’s a devil diss track so to speak. And how he managed to halt it from sneaking inside his mind.

“The Devil’s Calling” is a multi-factor cause for the calling, displayed with the routes of the devil whether through social media channels or doing drugs and those devilish activities, through both the lyrics and the music video.

Biblical vibes couldn’t stop how flaming the track is, epic and precise that hit you differently and subconsciously cast its gangsta vibe and bangs your head along with the epic beat and the fast angry flaming flow of Dax’s using powerful rhymes and lyrics and lifting up the heat of the track.

The Devil’s Calling but if Dax is the one who answered, I’m sure the devil won’t be calling again.

EP: Landslide by DAS ELITE

0

The latest EP/Single from DAS ELITE is a straight-to-heart collection of 2 brand-new songs, accompanied by 4 remixes. It is immediate, effective, straightforward, and packed with emotion and meaning.

DAS ELITE is the moniker for renowned Swedish producer Andreas Ahlenius. The illustrious producer and mixer are based in Gävle, and DAS ELITE is his solo outfit, which he regards as a much-needed creative outlet for when he’s not working with great names such as Anna Ternheim and Saybia, along with more revered and infamous names in Scandinavian music.

The Landslide EP includes its namesake song, and its B-side Align, followed by 4 varied remixes of Landslide. The song itself is a musically rich offering with dense production that’s loaded with detail and nuance. The song’s harmony is also quite intricate with multiple sections as well as a prominent melody that plays the role of a defining motif, that’s as much a simplistic piano melody, as it is an elemental part in the composition and the message of the song.

A slow burner, Landslide does never introduce conventional beats, opting instead for a killer kick drum that gets progressively heavier, alongside a throbbing synth bass that plays consistent rhythmic stabs. The tastefully hypnotizing outro gets increasingly fuzzed and distorted, but never sounds excessive or harsh, thanks to the masterful production job from the man himself. Align is more 80s-esque synth-heavy goodness. This time with conventional beats to bolster the dense-with-detail arrangement. With minimal, spaced-out vocals that sound soulful and just with the right amount of strain to show heart, Align is a delicious B-side that’s every bit as enjoyable as its sister song, albeit without a gorgeous, defining piano melody to hum for hours afterward, even if its outro is still a hypnotic, lengthy instrumental break. The remixes are all nice additions, but I particularly enjoyed the Reassemble – JEC remix, which is a wholly different reimagining of Landslide, with commandeering sub-bass, and conventional and tight trap beats. The arrangement in here is vastly more laid back and chill, giving Andreas’s vocal performance a greater chance to shine, which they welcome with open arms, making this rendition of Landslide a sexy down-tempo banger that calls to mind Mezzanine era Massive Attack with ease.

The latest EP release from DAS ELITE is a fun little collection of songs, made with a ton of love, which shows in the quality of the writing, the production, and the singing. Solid releases should not slip under the radar.
