How High by Natalie Clark

0

From a runner-up of NPC’s The Voice, ‘How High’ is a cheerful and airy pop tune that pays homage to a number of contemporaries, while maintaining a fresh and personal character that sets it apart and announces its singer as an up-and-coming voice that demands attention.

Natalie Clark, based in Los Angeles, is a Scottish indie pop singer who finished as runner-up on the infamous televised vocal competition show ‘The Voice’. A multi-million dollar TV production, The Voice’s competitors have to be trained and skilled to excel at their performances, and it’s easy to see and hear that Natalie Clark is just that. A capable singer, ‘How High’ is a pop tune in the truest sense of the word. With a demanding and melodic vocal melody, backed with beautiful harmonies, the layered is expertly executed and the vocal delivery is smooth and effortless. A vocalized melody chop in the pre-chorus strongly recalls Coldplay’s Chris Martin in its abruptness and energy-inducing flair.

The composition is sweet and solid. Opting for a few familiar-sounding chord progressions makes the music soft on the ears and quite easy to digest. The vocal performance is powerful and delightful, and the production, the secret weapon, binds everything together in pristine clarity.

How High is a gorgeous pop tune that easily deserves a listen, and if you’re into colorful, cheerful pop, you’ll find it easy to add to your playlists, and you’ll start to sit and wait for more releases from Natalie Clark?

Empty by DAMIEN

Electro-music fused with pop is a new trend but how about fusing those with an industrial theme? Sounds great right? Take all of these fusions and add some rock, and then you’ll get the perfect answer; DAMIEN.

DAMIEN from Ipswich offers a great fusion of multiple genres into one track touring around in themes, releasing “Empty” a single of his upcoming third album titled “‘Candidate For the Abyss” after the standouts of his two previous releases “Girl” and “Wrong Age. Wrong Race. Wrong Gender.” And you can check the review of the second album on our website as well.

The track begins with intermittent whispering vocals sounding like low-key Marilyn Manson vocals then the vocals and dubstep drums hit the ears like a fierce monster that is swallowing any clubber might turn out in sight.

The fusion of industrial Rock/Pop emerges within the sounds of the industrial drums along with the Stylophone theme sounds in the background along with the raw robot-like vocals that engulfed the track with a little help from the dubstep beats and funky rhythm.

Empty” resonates around the emotional side a lot of people bury and demolish within themselves, and how unnecessarily it is to be defensive every day of the week.

Take a listen to the track and tell us what you think.

Sam Casey Shared I’m F**king Sam Music Video!

0

Toronto-based songstress Sam Casey says that “I’m Fucking Sam is the real me introducing myself to the world. I can do the soft ballad, but it’s not WHO I AM. This is. I’m Fucking Sam talks about the pressures of any young adult who has recently left their safety net. It’s about dating the wrong guy, choosing the wrong friends, and learning about yourself through these negative experiences. I’m Fucking Sam illustrates the experience of being wanted/adored for what you can do for someone rather than who you really are. It also discusses the vices that we may fall back on when discovering these ugly realities for the first time. I’m Fucking Sam is a self-love anthem for those who have decided to say ‘screw it’ and let their freak flag fly. Lord knows I did and it tastes like fucking freedom.”

Sam clarified to Sistra News Team the idea of the song;

Shoutout to my producer – JUNO Award nominee Mike Schlosser – for helping me capture a modern punk-pop vibe with a little twist.

As a female artist, Agata can relate to the relentless feeling of constantly having to showcase who you are and make a statement, while still being authentic to yourself. Her interpretation of this song matches the confidence and boldness of my lyrics.

Vanessa Mood Released Work Out Things!

The indie pop artist Vanessa Mood shared her latest single ‘Work Out Things’ on all streaming platforms.

“This song was inspired by a challenging situation in a valuable relationship. It felt like there was no solution to the problem and so I wrote this song out of that frustration.
It felt unique because with other relationships in the past that had reached this point, I was willing to walk away. But with this one, that was not an option. Even though it was uncomfortable and there was a deep disagreement, the fact in my heart was that I wasn’t willing to let go. I was determined to “Work Things Out. Here is my sincere wish – “Work Things Out” is out on streaming platforms everywhere now.” – Vanessa.

“It’s never too late to try, I said I’d be by your side for life
Relationships are for a lifetime and they all go through ups and downs. People see us through it all, and when you find the right community, that’s when you realize how much you’re willing to fight for them. It is possible to try no matter how much time has passed.” – Vanessa Mood

Echo’s Song (ft. Lina Louise) by Herald K

0

The Greek myth of Echo and Narcissus is one true tragedy, full of wasted love and desperate realizations, a myth that gave us its namesake words, which we still use daily. Often told from the perspective of the beautiful Narcissus, Herald K reimagines it through song, from the point of view of the innocent attraction and eternally unrequited love of Echo, by far the more touching side of this sad tale.

The Norwegian, based in Vienna Herald K, a troubadour, and lyricist, who is on his third feature of the angelic voice of Lina Louise, is now venturing into mythology as a theme for his upcoming second album, of which Echo’s Song is part. Imaginatively telling this timeless Greek tragedy from the under-represented side of Echo, the single is wholly moving and incredibly thought-provoking. The duet gently takes turns in laying down minimal, colorful lyrics, leaving space and time for the poetic words to settle and take absolute effect in the listener’s mind, bolstering the proportions of the tragedy, the tragedy of a girl who loved too deeply, but was ultimately unable to get through to her lover’s heart, and of a lover who was terrified of loving anything or anybody more than he loved himself.

A stark contrast between Harald and Lina’s voices and deliveries lends this song a particular depth. The stoic delivery and low tenor voice of Herald, and his near-spoken word delivery of the lines, that brings to mind Nick Cave’s more serene vocal deliveries sits in neat contrast to Lina Louise’s heartfelt and passionate delivery that’s far more fluid and features more apparent movement, even if her melodies are largely just as minimal as Herald. All of this is backed by the warmest of arrangements featuring a dazzling piano, a discreet guitar strumming the elegant and familiar chord progressions, and a traditional instrument called a nyckelharpa that lends this song its unmistakable folk flavor, all done tastefully and with elegant restraint, making Echo’s Song sound eternal and graceful, full of bittersweet emotion, which perfectly suits its haunting lyrics, and the timeless myth from which the lyrics came.

Echo’s Song is a delicate introduction to Herald K’s upcoming album, titled Mythologies. A serene, sad, and beautiful tale, gorgeously retold with 2 contrasting voices, swirling around one another in an elegant dance, backed with a capable band, a charming arrangement, sweet and accessible composition, and an endlessly haunting set of lyrics.

EVASIONS by Adik Angel

“Evasions” by Adik Angel Is Where Electronica Meets Classical

Artist Adik Angel released a new alternative EDM album “Evasions” with an opening track of the same title on the 30th of January from Switzerland.

Adik Angel is a classically trained pianist and composer who fell in love with electronic music and styles like electronica, hip-hop, and house. Since the young age of 12, she had been trained in classical piano and went on to study classical music academically, which has shaped her to be a unique and influentially-diversified musician.

Most of Adik Angel’s pictures have her holding a keytar in them, and it seems like the instrument which she creatively identifies the most, and in my humble opinion, the keytar is one of the coolest instruments to be performed live, especially when it comes to electronic music.

There is another picture of her in front of a massive euro synth rack, of which I can’t even begin to comprehend the inner workings! It looks like the control deck of a freaking spaceship!

The title track of this amazing artist’s new album is ethereal, with lush pads and synths, melodic leads, and a groovy dancing bass. The melodic lines are haunting, and while simple, are sound designed in a way that captures the imagination.

The classical influence on Adik Angel shows in the simple melodies that are backed by effective and deliberate harmonies on “Evasions” and how she can make simple sound beautiful.

The Fall by Gy0

“The Fall” by Gy0 is a dark electronic track for industrial-loving psychonauts

Gy0 released the experimental electronic single “The Fall” from his upcoming EP “Everything and Everyone at Once” on the 18th of January from Italy.

While some people dig deep into their psyche, others dig even deeper. Listening to Gy0’s “The Fall” is like stepping into a realm of madness-fuelled genius. “The Fall” is not for the weak of mind or the easily disturbed amongst listeners, so proceed with caution.

There are droning notes underneath overlapping vocals, where everything feels like it doesn’t fit, yet found itself in this place. “The Fall” is a dark pit where notes and emotions fall in, and if you fall here as well, I hope you enjoy the darkness and the rare realness of it all.

Gy0 calls it “a love letter to UK Garage,” but I think what we can hear her is much more than that. This letter is a confession of a deep obsession, and anyone who knows the genre can hear the enveloping influence of it in Gy0’s music.

“The Fall” is dark and transcendental way beyond what listeners of the genre may be typically used to hearing. I believe that, in it, resides a part of Gy0’s very soul, and a side of him that few artists dare to show.

“Dance With Me” is the latest club techno banger from DJ Afif Zubiedi

DJ Afif Zubiedi released the electronic single “Dance With Me” on the 19th of January from Doha, Qatar.

DJ Afif Zubiedi isn’t a new name in music, and if you don’t know him, DJ Afif was a resident DJ for the most notable Syrian and Lebanese clubs from the early 90s to mid-2000s, he opened for David Guetta in Doha in 2010, and this last summer he was been playing Italian beach clubs Seatybeach and Barbetty. Now, only a few days ago, he released his latest “Dance With Me” on Spotify.

“Dance With Me” by DJ Afif Zubiedi has every hallmark of electronic tracks that rock clubs, hype crowds, and blast speakers like an explosion! DJ Afif Zubiedi has you covered if you’re looking for evolving pads, progressive bass lines, and hard-hitting drums, “Dance With Me” is sure to liven up parties!

This track, you just have to listen to this on the biggest subwoofer you can find. I’m serious. It is absolutely MASSIVE. If you don’t have a speaker system at home, then go play “Dance With Me” in your car, and if you don’t have a car either, call a ride share to DJ Afif Zubiedi’s next live set and play it in the car on the way there.. or use really good headphones as a last option. The clarity and power of the production in this track are well worth it.

Höhn Released The Egypt Lake!

0
The indie pop artist Höhn released his debut single, “Egypt Lake,” entirely from field recordings taken in Banff National Park, Alberta.
Egypt Lake itself is located pretty deep in the backcountry, so when I was camping there, I had to use a handheld water filter for drinking water that you work by pumping up and down.
This song is partly inspired by the idea of ‘music to pump water to,’ along with the vibe of an ‘underwater lake party.’
I want the song’s water-based samples, like the sounds of throwing rocks into water or wind on the lake, to take listeners to a sunset rave beside a favourite body of water.
Head over to your preferred platform to hear “Egypt Lake” for yourself.
View the official visuals for “Egypt Lake,” directed by YÚ on YouTube.
The video for this song synthesizes natural and synthetic elements, just like my music. It stars Toronto dancer, Kris Grzella, as he moves through industrial and natural environments, with a bit of a sci-fi twist.
