The week-end remixes by MIRIAM LOVE

0

Miriam love does it again with an astounding collective collaboration album called ‘ The weekend remix’, which is too good to be true. Dropped on the 16th of November from Malibu, US, you’ve got yourself a full-on EDM experience of Miriam’s The Weekend song, in 10 different remixes by fabulous creatives from all around the globe. The album is a continuation of the original ‘ The weekend‘ remix with world-renowned French EDM producer Joachim Garravd and Leo Bensalem. Full of dance, good feels, and in many instances some darkness, this song is all about the idea of the weekend, not the days themselves. It’s about freedom, peace, fun, and sharing good times, I mean we wish the weekend was every day for 7 days a week! That’s what Miriam intended for us through this timeless album.

Miriam wants people to feel how awesome life can be when you express gratitude for the good things in life no matter how mundane they seem. The inspiration for this song came to Miriam when she was during lockdown when she felt like everything wasn’t moving, almost stagnant. No connection to your social life or loved ones, a very unfamiliar and scary place to be. So Miriam wrote this song in honor of having these amazing experiences and things in our lives. The overall sound of the album is dynamic and rigorous and Carrie’s all sorts of tunes except melancholia! There’s sometimes an undertone of darkness in the tones of some remixes but in the end, the song is all about uplifting your spirits and just feeling everything.

The soundscapes are a wide range of EDM beats that will send you dancing or raving as soon as you hear them. Each song needs its own appreciation because of how different and unique it is. First of all, Miriam’s vocals are so beautiful and heighten your emotions and dopamine like crazy. Arkhazium’s remix is very techno, steady, and fast tempo. The music is very daunting with minimal distortions, sound effects, dark undertones, and echoing sounds. Timmy rise gives us a song that takes us from low to high frequency and starts with Miriam’s vocal sound effects. It’s highly intoxicating with great madness, and the best aspect of this song is the hard drops. There are Hi Hats sounds and a deep presence of Miriam’s vocals. You can see the stark difference between the two. Other songs have many experiences of deep bass effects, moving Melodie, usage of hihats, and clapping, some even entered the early 2010’s EDM vibes with dubsteppish music. Some are magical and mellow with harps sound effects, fun deep house vibes, beeping sound effects, and textured vocals. All in all, you will just get sucked into the music like never before, this album will just make you stay on repeat forever.

Empty Pillow by Tabi Kate

0

Dreamy, funky, groovy, sensual, meaningful, and fun! Tabi Kate’s latest single is a flawless gem of angelic, nostalgic pop that will readily get your body swaying along.

The Brighton-based Tabby Betts is a talented singer/songwriter with vision and direction. She and her band come together for rehearsals and gigs, but her solo artist project “Tabi Kate” is a full-fledged collaboration with Taegan Venner, a guitarist, producer, and arranger who’s responsible for the entirety of this song’s instrumentation.

For Empty Pillow, Tabi was inspired by the radiant pop of The 1975. Their song ‘Somebody Else’ in particular was a major influence in the inception of Empty pillow, with its vibrant, dance-y drums, upbeat melodies and chords, and airy soundscapes. Especially notable is the fantastic sound of the drums. A vintage, 80s-inspired kit was chosen to go along with the major direction for Disco in the arpeggiated synth melodies. The bouncing bass passages are also something to wait for and appreciate as they perfectly compliment that snappy, metallic snare. Tabi’s performance is smooth and elegantly peppy. Serene, angelic, and effortless, the richly layered vocal part is a massive part in dealing us the succulent vintage pop vibes. A gorgeous, soaring guitar solo bookends the song with an amazing selection of rocking phrases, and a creamy, overdriven tone that further elevates this pretty piece’s whole aesthetic.

A sensual song that tells us all that on our journey for self-discovery, we should all hang on to our empty pillow rather than that one person that holds us back and doesn’t quite give us the fulfillment we deserve, and it does so in a lighthearted manner that will get you dancing, then rocking.

Prettiest Penny by book NOT brooke

0

Beginning the year with remarkable melodies that entice your brain is a perfect start for a calendar.

With book NOT brooke releasing “Prettiest Penny” which at first glance gives an impression that it’s speaking of the current sloppy economic circumstances that we all suffer, but in fact, it implies that everything in life has a price tag but what is it? And the track states that the price depends on the value each person defines.

From Nashville, Tennesse the indie pop artist Vespoli along with her bandmate Jake Bibb assisting through sound by recording the guitar part and engineering.

Prettiest Penny” is a psychedelic experimental pop track that begins with smooth folk classic guitar chords and synths that twirl your ears and grabs your ears for a listen on the spot. Moments away from laying down the mesmerizing vocals of Vespoli that make you sway subconsciously along the melodic waves flowing to your ears vibing with it as if the sun kisses your skin in a warm winter morning while you’re touching fresh-looking green grass.

Just by the first notes of the track, it touches something within as it sounds familiar with some nostalgic sound you heard years ago, and that’s why psychedelic pop is the closest to my heart.

Play “Prettiest Penny” and enjoy a new year with a track released late in the previous one.

Full Moon by Melt Motif

0

Melt Motif wrapped up the year with the smash single “Full Moon,” which does give the impression of a moon with both bright and dark sides, giving the year a balanced conclusion between vigor and edginess.

Melt Motif is a trio from Bergen who entered the dark-pop scene as the duo Kenneth Rasmus Greve and Rakel and later got joined by Joe Irente to become a three-piece band and released the album “A White Horse Will Take You Home,” which was their hit debut.

“Full Moon” was released on December 9th, but here I’m initiating my first review of the year with this banger. I have to admit that electronic music isn’t my first choice, but Melt Motif effortlessly makes an exception! Their blended sound and dark yet vibrant atmosphere make it hard not to be lured into their lusty realm.

The four-minute song gets off to a solid start and maintains a dynamic pace throughout. It’s driven by sultry synth waves and trenchant drumming that get you lost in the rhythm. You became lost in their characteristically elevating world. Then, it’s time to get hypnotized by Rakel’s sensational, dreamy vocals, which have both a soulful and a tense timbre.

There’s an overall glitchy ambiance that, along with the noisy, well-crafted instrumentation, builds the desired vibe of the song’s theme, which they describe as “that feeling of freedom when you walk the streets of a huge city far from where you live.” All of the rich elements and the witty production serve to convey this liberating feeling that one is finally loose as if they were a “killer on the run.”

The moon is pretty in all its shapes, but there’s no more marvelous scene than when it’s full. As with “Full Moon,” which assembles top-tier components to create a fully polished mood-booster track.

أم كلثوم… لماذا؟

0

Seven by Harshini Magesh

Artist Harshini Magesh released her first self-produced alt-pop single “Seven” on the 3rd of December from Acton, MA.

Harshini Magesh is a high school senior from Acton, Massachusetts who takes inspiration from hip-hop and K-pop. Harshini Magesh has produced two singles in collaboration with IndianRaga before, but this release is her first solo release, as she wrote, composed, sung, and produced the song by herself.

“Seven” is a melodic and bouncy track about daily routines that feel like they’re not going anywhere. Is life going by too fast or too slow? Harshini Magesh says it feels like both at the same time, perhaps alluding to the effort one might put into their daily routine to maintain a status quo, without seeing the fruits of their labour as any real progress takes place.

The level of production, composition, songwriting, and arrangement on “Seven” is of the type of quality that would take two or three people working together working to make. It’s impressive then to know that “Seven” was wholly made by one person, and even more impressive to know that it’s one high school senior at the start of her musical career, and her name is Harshini Magesh.

Games by Chughey

Michigan-based Hip Hop artist Chughey released the break-up song “Games” on the 16th of December.

Chughey’s latest hip-hop release centres around a jazzy, melodic piano line that takes centre stage alongside his slurred raw vocal performance. “Games” is a track about a type of relationship where two partners equally learn how to properly love one another.

The production of “Games” features the complex melody of a piano and a swinging Mac Miller-type drum beat. The vocal production is mysterious, and takes the recording in interesting directions throughout the track, with a drunk, washed-out sound that ebbs and flows with dark emotion.

Chughey chose to pursue his newly kindled passion in music after a snow skating injury that stopped him skating for a year, and while he still steps onto the skateboard every now and then, his plunge into music has been a real change of heart for the artist as he continues his career with a discography of singles and albums that goes back as far as 2017.

Chughey reported that he is currently working on a new EP that features the ukulele, and it will be exciting to hear what this rising hip-hop star has in store as he experiments with new sounds and instruments.

Destello Inmortal by Horizonte Lied

0

From Monterey, Mexico, Horizonte lied dropped a very rich and dynamic electronic track that is packed with 80’s hard rock sounds laced with a hardcore base and synthy sounds that are too good to pass up. Since it’s released on the 25th of November, what the hell, we can’t stop listening to it! This is the 7th release from their ambitious project ‘ Final remasters’, A dark synth poppy. This song is actually an updated, remixed and remastered version of their original debut single. The band is heavily influenced by Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, and 9-inch nails. Founded in 1992, the band started making serious original hits starting 2001.

Vibrant and stylized synth track with hints of darkness, thrill, and adventurous vibes, the song talks about how love can get us in the most unexpired moments filled with strange emotions and confusion. The overall sound of the song is very harmonious, a little bit cold and very satisfying. You can really feel the different musical elements and influences in the song. The soundscape is a medium-paced, electronic one with a lot of electric guitar bursts that add the rock vibe and spice up the cold base of the song. The musical arrangement is complex with the melody made up of piano sound effects, and there are edgy sound effects along with drums.  The vocals are beautiful with an echoing, muffled effect and also give a feeling of emptiness. You can’t miss this song because it’s definitely a special taste of music.

Cutting Circuits by Bethan Lloyd

0

Welsh artist Bethan Lloyd based in Cardiff, UK, dropped a new song on the 4th of November an electrifying and dramatic tune called ‘ Cutting circuits’ that literally feels like you’re running through a tangled pile of cables, indulging in many high voltage musical shocks. Lloyds music is largely rave-inspired production and harmonic layering, as she takes her explorations of the spirit and emotions to blend them into a dance music experience. The song was released via Soulpunx records Berlin. Also, stay tuned for her album ‘Metamorphosis’ planned for 2023.

When the song begins to play you are hit with an electronic beat that is slow, daunting, and feels icy. The song is a celebration of relinquishing control internally and externally. The overall sound of the song feels like you’ve entered a digital dark fantasy. The musical arrangement is complex with frequent high and low intervals of music. There is a hard-hitting sound effect that is between a bass and a trumpet that is very prominent in the beat, hi-hats and clapping regulating the slow burn pace of the beat and giving it a lot of intensity. The vocals are so fantastic they are very dramatic and emotive that match the high frequency and intensity of the song and lyrics. You will experience very high notes. There are also backing minimal sound effects that are very electronic and give the vibe of a computer crash. This is definitely one of the best songs you can come across from the electronic pop genre.
