Won’t Be Around by Terry Blade

0

Artist Terry Blade will give us a chilling alternative folk tune called “won’t be around”, on the 6th of January. Blade is a songwriter who likes to blur the lines between blues, Americana, and roots music aesthetics. We definitely thought of Johnny cash when we first heard him! His music style is suitable for the lunatics of Hozier, Neil Younh, and Corey Harris.

Won’t be around is the kind of song that will send you deep into your thoughts and feelings, and somehow also connect you to the raw parts of you. The song is fixated mostly on the brilliant vocal performance, one that isn’t usual. The vocals of Blade are deep, rich, and captivating in every aspect. He sounds like an ancient man full of pain, wisdom, and stories to tell. This song can best be described as something you’d hear in a dim-lighted, old pub in the wintery countryside. The overall sound of the song is daunting and passionate. The musical arrangement is very minimal, with a melody created with a slow acoustic guitar and very subtle drums, tambourine sound effects, and some piano by the middle of the song. Check this song out for an alternative folk experience.

A Little Christmas of My Own by Nicki Wells

0

Singer, Songwriter, and composer Nicki Wells released the holiday piano ballad “A Little Christmas Of My Own” from Gloucestershire, UK on the 2nd of December.

The gentle and emotional piano composition complements Nicki Wells’s voice really well, and the minimalist production makes the few elements in the track work together perfectly. “A Little Christmas Of My Own” relies on great composition, lyrics, and performance rather than production magic, yet the subtlety of the production makes the song itself shine.

The song starts by painting a picture of Christmas through glass, seeing the gathering festivities, but not taking a part in them. Lonesome yet comforting emotions are stirred up as the song continues.

“So I turn and walk down the road,
making my way home
for a little Christmas of my own”

The message —as I understood it— from the “A Little Christmas Of My Own” is that Christmas will still be Christmas, even if we’re alone, and despite the emotions that are conjured up by seeing others together, we should still be able to enjoy our time in the holidays in the little ways and simple pleasure that we can take.

It can be hard sometimes to be on your own, so if during these holidays you’re alone, I wish you a merry little Christmas of your own.

Album: Xmas Piano 1 by Marcus Sukiennik

0

The highly skilled and talented Pianist; Marcus Sukiennik just released his latest album: “Xmas Piano 1”, a 10-track piano album that’ll instantly put you in Christmas spirit and the holiday cheer. With over 25 years of experience, Marcus is known for his unique compositions, fresh arrangements, and remarkable technique. The German-based musician is a classically trained pianist with extensive jazz knowledge and a passion for the history of classical and jazz music. He is influenced by pianists and musicians like Keith Jarret, Herbie Hancock, and Ludovica Einaudi. The pianist has a dedicated fan base of over 1.2K monthly listeners on Spotify. He’s also been the house pianist at the Excelsior Hotel Ernst Piano Bar for about 13 years, alluring the audience with his captivating aura.

“Xmas Piano 1” is a fresh take on the traditional Christmas carol that’s been there for decades. The album is a mix of German and English Christmas carols and hymns; like the “Alle Jahre Wieder” and “Jingle Bells.” Each carol has a fresh sound, incredible arrangement, skilled-playing technique, and individuality.  “Morgen Kommet der Weihnachtsmann” is a fresh, fun, and uplifting take on the traditional “Twinkle, Twinkle, little star.” You will listen to “Oh Christmas tree” in a very fun arrangement with a pop flavor that’s impossible not to dance along with. Then comes “Silent Night” in an unusual arrangement, with a jazz swing and a classical core. It’s almost impossible not to sing along with these songs. Listening to it makes me paint a picture of the cozy Christmas family gathering, with everyone standing around the family heirloom piano, singing along to these jazzy, classical carols.

Besides his compositions and performances, Marcus has his own label and a studio where he produces all his music. He has a big reveal next year that includes a band and string ensemble that we can’t wait to see.

The song is built upon guitar strokes that deliver the reggae vibe, backed by a hip-hop drum and bass groove creating a unique mix that draws attention while catching the listener’s ear with a dynamic and beautiful melodic brass section. Gus’s flawless voice and Jamaican accent make the words impactful as he paints them over the music. Blast Off (Radio Edit) by Dorian

0

Astonishing artist Dorian never fails to amaze us with his diversity as he releases a radio edit of his single “Blast Off” on the 21st of November, teasing the world just a day before releasing his latest EP “33”. The radio edit is considered a lighter and shorter version of the song as an instrumental intro, guitar line, and the melodic piano line was removed.

Dorian is a renowned R&B/Soul singer/songwriter based in Baltimore, United States with more than 500k streams globally and racking up more than 10k monthly listeners on Spotify. Tirelessly, Dorian revealed his love for his art in the year 2022 by releasing his critically acclaimed album “The Arrival: Dream World pt.2” in May and his latest EP “33” in November

“Blast Off” takes on a chill atmosphere with ambient synth and atmospheric backing vocals, yet it’s powered by a drill beat and deep 808s that fuels its energetic vibe. With Dorian’s soulful and powerful voice, the song is charged and hyped with an empowerment theme that is supported by poetic lyrics. The chorus is a repetition of the words “We’ll Blast Off,” but Dorian’s delivery coupled with the backing vocals makes the words so compelling that they urge the listener to take action. The relaxed yet vibrant mood of the song makes it a highly recommended jam for your night drive playlist.

EP: When It Snows by Sunflower Summit

0

Mexican-American independent artist Sunflower Summit released her acoustic song collection “When It Snows” ft. Katie Dwyer & jANiCKA on the 22nd of December.

Sunflower Summit’s “When It Snow” has a serene wintery vibe throughout the length of its seven—soon to be eight— tracks. Did I mention that “When It Snows” will be released on the 13th of January with instrumental versions of the songs plus a bonus track? I guess I forgot, but now that we’ve got that covered, let’s talk about the released song collection and of course the Chicago-based Sunflower Summit herself.

The songs from “When It Snows” all feel like a small blanket, a warm mug, and a snowy window looking out to a still-white landscape. Sunflower Summit’s soft, heartwarming singing and wholesome lyrics are comforting in the same way as sitting next to a fireplace huddled on a sofa.

Each song in “When It Snows” has a unique melody, writing style, lyrical theme, and instrumental elements different from all the other songs in the collection drawing from Sunflower Summit’s vast classical and contemporary musical influences. Aside from the overarching vibe and warm feeling of “When It Snows”, no two songs are the same.

The collection starts lightly with “Lightly”, a song about Sunflower Summit’s longing for wintertime.

“This time of year puts me in such a state
Wish it could be like this all my days
When the earth slows down to take a break”

The first track features an acoustic guitar, strings, and Sunflower Summit’s soft yet powerful vocal performance with unexpected and haunting melodies.

“Snow Stones” ft. Katie Dwyer and “Snow Ocean” ft. jANiCKA are Sunflower Summit’s collaborative efforts on “When It Snows” which are more dynamically vibrant and energetic and work really effectively in creating dynamic shifts in mood throughout the collection when listened to in the intended sequence. The last song “Dreaming Again” is my personal favorite and a powerful closer, but I won’t spoil any of the details. I don’t recommend skipping straight to it though, as the context of the previous tracks makes it so much more impactful.

“When It Snows” is a reminder to pause from the stresses of life and work, and to contemplate what we truly value when snow is all there is and all that’s left.

Keine Eile by Söhne Mannheims

0

The listening experience is always beautiful and enriching when it comes to the pop band Söhne Mannheims. Based in Mannheim, Germany, the band creates its own rules and musical style, totally unbothered by hopping on trends. The band is made up of four members, Dominic, Karim Amun (Who has Egyptian roots), Michael Klimas, and Giuseppe Porello; each with a unique voice and individuality in their performances that all complement one another. They’re planning to release their 7th studio album in 2023 so big music is ahead, waiting for their fans!

Like a sun on a rainy day, the song is heartfelt, soft, and easy on the ears, this soft rock, bluesy track will win your affection as soon as possible. The song is slow yet very intense in emotive ques and vocals, with music that is also groovy with a sweet melody. The song’s overall sound is strong in emotions and uplifting in tone. The soundscape is slow, warm rock, with very mellow energy and something that feels like it’s pushing you forward. The musical arrangement is rich, starting with a prominent acoustic guitar as the star of the track, and a lot of drums and electronic sound effects. Notable sounds are the rap snippets in between the singing vocals. The vocals are very emotive, calm, and high-pitched when needed to perform something dramatic. All in all, this song is exceptionally magnetic and touches your soul so easily.

She’s Not the Hurting Kind by Anton Commissaris

0

Whenever the word jazz music is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is legends like; Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Armstrong, among others. It’s become rare to come across an authentic, original jazz song that isn’t a cover. Anton Commissaris blew our minds away with his latest release, “She’s Not the Hurting Kind”; an original jazz song with richness and smoothness that’ll take you on a trip back in time. It’s part of his upcoming EP “Off the Shelf.” The single was accompanied by a lyrics video, with fun animated visualizes in calm tones and pastel colors, that reached over 7K views on YouTube in less than a month. It’s about giving love a second chance and not letting the fear of getting hurt again get in the way of new beginnings.

The song has an undoubtful jazz structure, between the swing and the swaying beat, the soft improvisational piano tunes, and the chilled drumline. Not to mention the women backing vocals that complement the song’s overall mood by answering back to the main vocals. Even the seductive sax tunes that play in all the right moments.  Yet, an unexpected element is introduced; the violin starts playing, which isn’t a usual instrument in a jazz quartet, giving the song an undeniable country flavor. The music repeats, but after the violin is introduced, you start listening to it differently, making it a one-of-a-kind jazz/country fusion. Anton’s vocal color could fall under the country genre, yet he has a jazz performing style; that was influenced by Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Donny Hathaway. With Commissaris’ remarkable streak of releases, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

0

Saneit is not afraid to show vulnerability laced with sensuality when it comes to her music, providing us with hardcore rawness. An absolute queen, she conquers the high bars again with a new song called ‘ nothing like them’, on the 18th of November all the way from Chicago, US. Saneit is an independent R&B artist who is working her way up in the industry by improving and bettering her lyrical and vocal skills, which definitely puts her on the radar. Her last song ‘Prove me wrong’, garnered 25 thousand views on YouTube, and we are hoping that her new sensual ballad does the same!

Seductive, exposed, and true, this song is just another level of amazing female energy from Saneit. With a dreamy and sexual approach, this song speaks of love like it’s addictive and frustrating. Sophisticated in her nature, Saneit really gives us something to listen to. The overall sound of the song is sexy and powerful in emotion. You’ll be all up in your feelings as you blast this song. The soundscape is very slow and heavily vocal textured which feels amazing because who wouldn’t want more and more of Saneit’s vocals coming at you? The musical arrangement is simple yet very powerful because of how the lyrics and vocals are presented. You’ve got good slow, magical harp sounds that make the song feel like an escape, and you’ve got a light piano, and clapping sound effects that regulate the slow pace. Saneit is about to gonna blow up the world with this new track!

Big Bad Wolf by Nobody’s Wolf Child

0

Nobody’s wolf child is the electronic goth music we didn’t know we needed. Based in SouthEast, UK, they released a haunting, chilling and beautiful sonic adventure to the moon called ‘Big bad wolf’. This is their 5th release, with a visual counterpart. Although they debuted earlier this year in January with their song ‘The fall’, they managed to harbor over 10,000 monthly listeners and 5,000 user playlists.

Iridescent vocals, poetic, full of imagery and raw lyrics, accompanied by dark, dreamy, and mystifying melodies, this song wins your heart in a matter of seconds. The dark is luring you into the song in an addictive way, especially with the painful yet full of strong vocals and lyrics. The overall sound of the song is soft, edgy, and very much gothic. There is also a flair of drama in the music that is cleverly crafted to stand against the extremely fragile and silky sound of the female vocals. The soundscape is a thrashy, electronic soundscape that is very slow allowing you to fully digest the gloomy sounds. Feeling like you’re being sucked into an abyss, the song feels like some air whirlwind stuck in a jar. The musical arrangement is very rich and dynamic, with a gradual introduction of sounds, instruments, and peculiar sound effects. There are a lot of slow drums and cymbals that pretty much make up the pace and total sound of the song from a gothic, rock point of view. There is an instance of light piano, and many notable sounds like fast breathing, monstrous sounds, and wolf sounds. This song is too good, we actually wish there could be more of this type of sound.
