Artist Chris Mcconville based in London, UK releases a dreamy and heartfelt song called ‘You on the brain’, remixed in a psychedelic, grunge attitude on the 2nd of December, as a wrap-up to this year’s work. The song follows his most successful song on Spotify, ‘ The walking home’ Nunny boy remix. Chris himself produces original songs, after being a drummer in an indie band, and loves to blur the lines between indie and electronica, while also blending rock and dance elements. This is certainly some of Chris’s best traits in his music production, and he also sings, which is a huge plus in leading his own emotions fully from sound to vocals, giving us the final piece on a silver platter.
If the song is too good, it’s because of how Chris creates this love song in such a way that is intense through the electric guitar riffs and dreamy soundscape that also makes you want to dance till death! The song is heartfelt, dynamic, and friendly. The overall sound of the song is relaxing, chill, and enjoyable in every aspect. It’s edgy and cool and still manages to make you feel like rainbows and sunshine. There is an amazing, subtle positivity in the tone of the music. The musical arrangement is very rich and exciting, with a breezy, and mellow soundscape, and synthy and magical sound effects all with a dance vibe to it. Also, the song has elements that feel very nostalgic to the rock music that was made during the end of the 80s. All in all, the scratchy and grunge vibe on the song largely gives undertones of chill vibes. The vocals are soft-spoken, simple, and raw. We can’t wait to hear what more Chris can offer to the world.
After 30 years of writing and recording music, artist/composer Julian Petrin decided to re-record and re-release his impressive and diverse catalog. In 2003, Petrin released Embrace as a part of the compilation Café Abstrait, and in 2020 recorded it once again, and today we’re going to dig deep into it.
Embrace opens with a subtle melodic beat that acts like its solid core, it has a magical nature within its sound and pacing that fuels your curiosity, making you wonder where it’ll go next. It keeps evolving into a theatrical sound with layers of groovy bass and loads of melodies added as it progresses, resulting in a dynamic stream of emotional melodies that smoothly flows within a solid structure that brilliantly keeps it all together. Julian Petrin clearly invested a lot of time perfecting Embrace’s music and production, it can be heard within its interesting multi-layered structure and well-crafted dynamics that keep things interesting with movements and changes, without any loss of its mood or compromising its sound.
Julian Petrin’s Embrace is a lovely sonic journey with skillful songwriting and beautiful flow, its well-crafted arrangements and compositions show Petrin’s talent and great sense of melody. He’ll gently take you on a theatrical trip as you go through Embrace’s ups and downs, hanging on to its solid sound and heartfelt music and looking forward to more, cheers!
There are countless songs that talk about how love will make you stupid, reckless, or hypnotized. But does any of them sound as epic as Imelda Gabs’ “Reckless”? I doubt that! A dramatic rhapsody that will send chills down your spine can only be provided by this immensely talented artist.
Around this time a year ago, Imelda Gabs released “Alter Ego,” which I reviewed on our sister website, “Rock Era Magazine,” and I still remember her and her dazzling voice, mesmerizing theme, and out-of-the-box music video since then. I mean, how could one forget such remarkable young talent?
“Reckless” takes a different direction than “Alter Ego,” where the artist goes for more minimal production, yet it sounds revolutionary. Imelda’s voice is expressive and slaying on its own; however, the piano, strings, and woodwinds offer their help to enthrone her legendary vocal performance. Nevertheless, the present is an intense composition that, as it progresses, sounds like it’s singing along, carrying the ache in the lyrical theme. The artist may be reckless in love, but she is highly precise when it comes to combining two flairs like dark pop and orchestral elements.
Imelda Gabs is a musician who doesn’t rely on how mesmerizing and haunting her vocals are and neglects other elements as her voice will grab all the attention anyway. On the contrary, she puts her heart and soul into every ingredient, producing organic work both sonically and visually. She composed, performed, and produced the song all on her own, and she did a top-notch job.
With the vocal line being vulnerable and bursting with power at once, she conveys the conflicting emotions in the lyrics and offers a resonating delivery that puts you in a cinematic scene from Imelda’s creative creation. If you can’t visualize it on your own, the music video, directed by Dariy Mambetov and starring Imelda herself, will do this for you. It’s as futuristic as her potential.
The song is part of Imelda Gabs’ upcoming debut album, and I’m eager to see how she’ll outdo herself once more and put another milestone into taking the pop genre to a whole new level.
Soothing and spirited is what characterizes Christmas’ soul and Desarae Dee’s track “Holiday Soul.” The instrumental piece is all about capturing the graceful and festive ambiance of the jolly season.
Straight out of Canada, the instrumental fusion artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Desarae Dee uses her genre-blending magic to portray the Christmas charm in her in a spectacular way. With Jazz, R&B, and Neo-soul in the mix, the artist represents her artistic soundscape in “Holiday Soul” smoothly and delightfully.
“Holiday Soul” is a Christmas tune you’ve never heard before. While no one dislikes Christmas but the Grinch, it’s competitive and challenging for musicians to make a carol that doesn’t sound like the others. In order to do so, all you need to do is put your own authentic sound and soul into it, and that’s exactly what Desarae Dee did, and it doesn’t seem like she tried to sound distinct! She just put her abilities and passion into it, and it naturally became original with aesthetic nuances that make one immersed in the less than three-minute track.
The composition has both a peaceful and a slightly vivid atmosphere. However, it’s not the “fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la” mood; it’s the timeless vibe that seeks peace and inner, deep joy. The jazzy elements set the emotional ground, while the Neo-Soul flair adds a bright spirit. The instruments were all in place: the percussion, the bass, and the synth are all Santa’s deer that will take you to the land where it’s always Christmas.
There are colorful, casually decorated Christmas trees and elegantly silver and gold-decorated Christmas trees. Desarae Dee is as sophisticated and spiritual as the second type of tree. She indeed has impressive musicianship that works to dig deep to reach one’s core.
With a diverse, influencing, and sincere discography, the emerging pop star Kelsie Kimberlin is marking her spot in the musical realm and earning the fame she fairly deserves. Her latest single, “Fruit Basket,” is the sugary, energetic, fruity sonic delight that one needs to brighten the day.
Kelsie Kimberlin is a Ukrainian-American pop artist who cares about making the world better with her music. She’s a talented musician who owns a compelling voice, touching writing skills, and a moving passion for spreading hope, love, and laughter through her music.
“Fruit Basket” sets a great example of what the artist has to offer, both sonically and visually. When I learned about Kelsie when I reviewed her song, “Cosmopolitan Girl,” I got how she cares about making her work complement, with every ingredient and its small details serving the message she wants to deliver. In “Fruit Basket,” I can touch once more how the sentimental artist wants humans to be filled with humanity.
The song is driven by vivid Latin beats that urge you to dance joyfully. The all-over atmosphere bursts with life and kind of tickles the listener to forget about everything and just feel pure happiness. Kelsie’s pleasant vocals and dynamic performance mash well with the infectious grooves, colorful rhythms, and a peppy cadence to lure one to “spread the joy to people all across the planet” as much as she does.
I wanted to imagine how the world would be if Kelsie’s hopeful, compassionate lyricism were applied, yet I found that there was no need for imagination—the music video says it all! The video, which was shot in Colombia, is euphoric and festival-like, with cultural imagery and a light spirit. The producer, Pedro Vengoechea, is featured in the song, adding more vitality with his Latin bars and his charismatic appearance in the video.
Once again, the dazzling star makes an addictive track that carries a humane message, and she’s only 22. Can you imagine how far she can go with such dedication and skills?
It’s not always about the music; sometimes, it’s about the person performing and their ways of interpreting it. Juliette Jemm is a French-born, multicultural artist with a softness and talent like no other. Juliette was able to catch the audience’s attention with her tender voice and radiating colorful personality, making her previous release earlier this year: “Mirages blanc” reach over 17K streams on Spotify only. Last month, she released her 2nd single this year: “L’enfant qui dort en toi”; which translates to “The child who sleeps within you.”
The artist decided to return to her roots with this song; she ditched the city life and went back to where it all began, “Normandy”; the land of her ancestors and her grandparents. The song’s title is literal; it encourages you to connect with your inner child, listen to its voice, and overcome your fears and obstacles. A romantic song with a smooth musical structure and an effortless uplifting mood. It’ll surely leave you with an optimistic smile on your face and lots of positive energy. The song was co-produced with the Japanese composer Shohei Narabe and the French artist-producer Nampa. It was also co-written with Marinoeru, who is a French doctor In Japanese literature. And last, the visuals were made by the Turkish artist; Nilgün Özer. No wonder the artist collaborated with other artists of different backgrounds and heritages, given her years spent in Paris and Tokyo.
The artist is currently working on a project, or call it a musical challenge if you will, where she will release a new single every month for the next 9 months, starting with “L’enfant qui dort en toi.” She just released her 2ndsong this month: “My Christmas is here again (Joyeux Noël, comme toujours).” Check it out and we can’t wait to keep up with her 9-month challenge.
Acoustic Americana, stripped down to just guitars and vocals is a tried and true formula. Think Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt, Elvis’s later years, and a ton more acoustic artists or duos, the equation is old and simple, and with a few detrimental factors that decide its success, those are a tightly played rhythm part, a compelling style of delivery, but perhaps most importantly, an inviting story that pulls you in under a spell. So, does Pete Miller’s Hard To Find check those boxes? Let’s find out.
Pete Miller hails from Philadelphia, and Hard To Find is a part of his latest album. An acoustic-only arrangement the song successfully manages to pull you in from the first second, and doesn’t let go until it’s over. The song had me at the very first chord strums, with a smart rhythmic change in the intro that has more impact on getting a moment going than you might notice. Pete’s delivery is inviting, personal, and dynamic. With little in terms of vocal treatment, the delivery sounds organic and honest, like Pete is present in your room, recounting this magical story directly to your ears. The playing is tight and rhythmic, the acoustic guitar sounds warm and the strumming is smooth as silk. And the story, full of bows and arrows and struggles for survival in a medieval setting that’s rare in an acoustic Americana song, the lyrical vibes reminded me of Led Zeppelin’s Ramble On or Battle of Evermore.
It’s easy to deduce that “Hard To Find” easily checks all the boxes that make this song; fun, compelling, and memorable. With a unique voice and a knack for fantastical stories, Pete Miller will ensnare you with his amazing track.
If it’s Jeff lake you know you’re in for a jolly ride in his colorful sonic universe. Taking on a Christmas song as his first release since his debut EP ‘Field of grass’ in August 2020, here’s his freshest song ‘Happy Christmas’, a holiday feature with Cellophane flowers dropped on the 2nd of December from New York. Lake has over 200k streams on Spotify and 275k views on YouTube with his bluegrass cover of Janis Ian’s ‘Better times will come’. Lake is also working on a new Christmas show called ‘The Christmas Chronicles’, which gradually reveals the true meaning of Christmas over a series of visually enticing and sensational vignettes, and this song is the first part of the release.
Get ready to soar like a bird in the sky and dance like dolphins in the ocean with the holy and cheerful spirit that lake introduces in his new song. The overall sound of the song is so uplifting and has a hint of seriousness because of the lyrics that make you think like 10 percent with his question what have we done? Yeah man we guess we all have to think about that but still through a beautiful, emotive, and collective message that gathers us with a happy tone. The musical arrangement is rich which starts with a medium-paced acoustic guitar backed with subtle chirpy and mellow violin. Notable sound effects are sleighing bells and xylophones that interchange a lot. The vocals are very charged with sensitivity, realness, and joy for the Christmas atmosphere. Check this song out on Spotify for fresh Christmas cheer!
Major Kami’s “Major Jones” sounds like a “Space Oddity” sequel, transporting us to the magical cosmos where David Bowie created their fabrics, and it also pays homage to the music industry icon himself.
I was first introduced to Major Kami by the song “IYOAB” earlier this month, and I can still remember my immediate impressions: the project of Canadian singer Camille Miller, aka Major Kami, and the French group DAMde8 offered eccentric synthpop with a retro flavor as well as unique storytelling smoothly through a delicate, emotional vocal line.
Thanks to the producer Denis Expert and another thirty musicians from around the world, this musical project was born in 2019 and developed into this organic sound with a distinct artistic identity.
“Major Jones” has sentimental value because it honors David Bowie’s legacy with its obvious inspiration. It doesn’t need a special mood or place to be heard; once you hear it, it’ll do its magic and spaceship you to a galaxy full of peppy synth, dynamic beats, and a sugary vocal line with solemnity and sincerity in its tone, crafting atmospheric soundscapes.
The creative lyricism makes you immersed in the compelling storytelling and effortlessly lures you to make your own journey with its heroic imagery. Major Kami’s impassioned delivery compels you to be “outfit ready,” too, looking for both Major Tom and Major Jones to endure the adventure while being charmed by the relaxed tunes.
If you don’t have the subtle ride to venture into outer space, watch the “Major Jones” music video, which features an elegant black background, dazzling colored lines, and the talented singer herself as a convincing astronaut. Engines one and enjoy the free space odyssey!
