The Girl From Kerry by Romain Gutsy

0

The nice, charismatic Parisian Romain Gutsy is back with another charming song, full of precious vibes and a delightful attitude.

Romain Gutsy’s music is difficult to describe. This singer/songwriter has a sound that’s essentially acoustic and organic, bordering on wood, like an antique floor, that’s comfortable, classy, and valuable. His rusty, lighthearted delivery is instantly recognizable with his humorous, easy-handed arrangements and songs. The Girl from Kerry was written in Dublin, earlier in 2022.

Telling a cheeky story about the fiery meeting between a girl from Kerry and a totally anonymous Parisian in Dublin city, and all the heated events that transpired, this song has a bluesy sound that’s fantastically humorous and fitting. Romain’s sound is still in the forefront, with his witty, funny remarks. This time, his delivery is accented by manic yowls and vocalizations in a lengthy instrumental section. The production, courtesy of both Gutsy and Marc Bentel, is a step above the previous songs I heard from Romain Gutsy. More calculated and cohesive, the complicated sound of this blues-folk arrangement is tight, balanced, and properly colored. An endlessly fun offering that’s usual for Romain Gutsy.

This latest song from Gutsy sees him upping his production game with tighter performances and a more intricate and cohesive mix that puts every element where it belongs, add to that the sleazy, humorous story, Romain’s hearty delivery, and the charming songwriting, and you end up with a healthy meal of musical entertainment.

Tell Me Brother by President Street

A unique duo with a remarkable sound, Tell Me Brother is a one-of-a-kind blend of Rock, Blues, and Funk that will get your body moving, and your mind thinking.

The Aussie Pop duo, based in Melbourne, is back with another intoxicating release from their upcoming EP. Tell Me Brother challenges societal norms of masculinity with a sound that’s purely inspired. The distinctive mix features drums that sound a little too low, but with an immediate punch and an unmistakable groove, and an infectious dash of claps and other percussive elements, making me believe the recording would have exploded if they were a little higher in volume. The mix also features a precious Funk guitar that plays the classic wahwah-ed syncopated chops. It’s delightful, colorful, and immaculately played. The bass is a beast on this one, carrying the outstanding Mixolydian riffs on its shoulders, sounding boomy, wooden, and bouncy. Extremely rich. The star of the show, without a hint of doubt, is the uber-charismatic vocal delivery. Rich, seductive, and memorable, the bluesy delivery is made whole with a haunting harmony backing that makes the chords sound bigger and delivers the sound of the composition.

President Street is definitely a distinctive duo. Their music is eclectically written, performed, and mixed. With a healthy serving of talent and musicality on all possible fronts, the voice is rich and fun, the beats are unique and groovy, and the guitars and bass make dancing a given with Tell Me Brother. An essential blend of Funk, Blues, and Rock.

Right Place Wrong Time by Kelsie Kimberlin

0

Gifted musicians don’t offer one color of music. They know how to vary and still be authentic. Kelsie Kimberlin, a young artist, is one of these musicians who derive their artistic identity from being genuine, regardless of their musical flair. She can offer an upbeat take as she did in her latest track, “Cosmopolitan Girl,” or an intense, emotional capacity as in “Right Place, Wrong Time,” right here.

I learned about the 22-year-old emerging star when I got to review her vivid song, “Cosmopolitan Girl.” And now that I’ve heard her single “Right Place Wrong Time,” which was released last year, I’ve got to say that this artist has her own cosmic musicality. She knows how to get to one’s core with her writing and performing sensitivity, whether the theme is positive or melancholic.

“Right Place Wrong Time” is the personification of the ghosts of a relationship hanging in every scar it left. Kelsie was able to create a song that was as haunting as the pain of such a toxic relationship that made one wish it had never happened.

Many people had gone through a painful breakup with the devastating aftermath. That’s why the single will be highly relatable and will somehow offer both effects of squeezing the wounds and soothing them. The poignant lyricism portrays how a person could lie on the bed, paralyzed by the burden they’re bearing, preventing them from healing and finding another opportunity to be at the right place at the right time.

“I need a time machine to do it all again,” we sometimes wish. To be honest, and slightly selfishly, I’m glad Kelsie didn’t, because we wouldn’t have this emotionally charged tune. Her intoxicating voice perfectly conveys the wistful yet hopeful timbre of the lyrics. She has velvety, melodic vocals that, however gloomy the emotions they may carry, will always leak bright rays of serenity and positivity.

The atmospheric composition gives a warm feeling of the “right place,” yet is intense and edgy like the “wrong time.” The piano notes delicately and soulfully harmonize with the sensational vocals to deliver an overwhelming flood of emotions. Although it may elicit unpleasant memories, it will create a safe bubble in which you will be soothed and anesthetized by the hypnotic overall mood.

It’s certainly always the right time to hear Kelsie Kimberlin’s introspective music! I can’t wait to see what else she’ll offer in her creative journey in her own stellar musical galaxy.

Dance Dance Dance by Rebel Camp

0

When things get pretty dark, all we can do is turn on a flashlight and dance it out. The collective, Rebel Camp, crafted the groovy anthem, “Dance Dance Dance,” to make you shake all your troubles off your shoulders and shake your body instead.

Rebel Camp is a fruit that came to life because of seeds from all over the world, as independent artists came from places like New York (USA), Miami (USA), Atlanta (USA), Lagos (Nigeria), and London (United Kingdom) where the pandemic gathered them, or as they put it, “Covid was the catalyst.” It served as a utility to begin their creative journey and release aesthetic works like “Dance Dance Dance,” where each artist put their own touch on something genuine.

“Dance Dance Dance” kicks off with a funky synth that instantly puts you in a bouncy mood. The enthusiastic female vocals match the rhythm’s dynamic energy and sing passionately with a soulful, melodious tone. The entire rich sonic flow is structured in an irresistible, vivid manner, giving the listener the urge to do as the lyrics say:

“To the music lets sway.

All night, all day.

Until your sorrows go away.

Dance Dance Dance.”

The writing finesse is shown in every single element, individually and combined. The beats are catchy and insist on making you sway and get hyped up. It has a skillful production that offers an energetic yet emotional ambiance.

Once you hear it, you’ll get that it’s not just a peppy set that’s made to be listened to once in a club and forgotten after. It’s the kind of music that sticks with you because it moves something inside you rather than just your body. As I learned its back story, I knew why I felt like this. The composer/Songwriter of this song was left at the altar on his wedding day. He found his refuge in front of a mirror, dancing out the depression he suffered from. This inspired him to write the song.

This is your sign to stop thinking about what’s circling in your head and just Dance Dance Dance!

One More Chance by Nana Kottens

0

Ghanaian American singer/songwriter Nana Kottens released the acoustic folk-pop song “One More Chance” on 28/10/22.

The song is an easy-on-the-ear apologetic jam reminding me of artists like Akon, that talks about meeting your ex-girlfriend after a while and remembering the old memories such as in “I used to tell you my stories and my ambitions”, asking for a “One more chance” while reflecting his background in lines like “But I told you I’m from Ghana in west Africa”. The song is built upon a simple and melodic guitar line and simple beat providing the love-in-the-air vibe and helping the song an easy on-the-ear, closer-to-the-heart feeling. Accompanied by Nana’s emotional and expressive voice which gives the lyrics an impact on the music making the listener feel every word and relate to the song. While in the break just before the outro chorus while singing the line “can you tell your mama that and I love you babe” he sustains the “E” and breaks his voice a bit, adding more emotion to the words. The song is a definite listen because it’s very relatable and beautiful.

Double Or Nothin by Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L

0

Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L is an R&B singer from Brooklyn, United States. He had a passion for drag racing but unfortunately had a drag accident. During the recovery phase, he fell in love with music and started working on his own music. That brings us to his released rap single “Double or Nothing”.

“I think we all have that one person we just can’t leave alone no matter how hard we try. Love hurts.” Breon said to The Stumble Upon Blog which sets the mood of the track into an emotional groovy song as seen in lines such as “Girl I needed your loving, And you left me like nothing” and “This lead to my demise, I thought of suicide”. The song has wavey pads and organs in the background accompanied by groovy hard-hitting drums with the kicks highlighted by a deep bass forcing the listener to headbang all throughout the song. Breon’s natural flow directs the groove and emphasizes the lyrics, forcing the listener to become addicted to the song and play it over and over again.

Down But Not Out by Bones in Butter

0

It was difficult for the whole world during the pandemic lockdown. However, it encouraged musicians to work on music and form bands, which brings us to the band of the hour Bones in Butter, which was formed in Belgrade, Serbia. They are releasing a new banger groovy single on 18/11/22

As soon as the song begins, the listener is forced to groove with the drums, bass, and rhythm guitars topped by a lead guitar that progresses over time until it reaches its peak just before the verse. As we dive into the first verse, subtle vocals come in backed by the bass and drums groove making the listener feel every word. Halfway through the verse lead guitar comes in pushed back into the background but is difficult to miss since it gives the song depth and changes the song’s mode. Until we reach the Neo-pop interlude with FX taking over the song to the Neo-pop vibe with the lead guitars having room to shine with a spacey tone that immediately grabs your attention. Following that a colorful and cheerful synth is introduced maintaining the Neo-pop sound. The second verse has a different atmosphere filled with backing vocals, FX, synths, and reverb guitars. As the song comes to an end we hear the synth line again backing the vocals and spacey guitars.

Make Our Art by DataBass

0

DataBass released a new self-produced art-pop single “Make Our Art” on Spotify and SoundCloud on the 11th of November.

The young artist from Richmond, United States released her first independently recorded and produced song Make Our Art, an art pop song with themes of creation, heartbreak, and reverie.

The song is like an abstract painting, colored with the warm hues of the piano, and the cool blues of DataBass’s voice. Make Our Art is like day and night at the same time. It’s major and minor, happy and sad.

The production of Make Our Art has no more layers than it needs, and it uses few instruments to paint vivid soundscapes of tone color.

DataBass is currently studying Music Media Production at Ball State University with a concentration on Commercial Music and is aiming to compose for films and video games (according to the artist’s press kit), and with 8 years of production experience in pop, ambient, symphonic, and instrumental music, we may soon see her name credited in a video game or film release.

DataBass was able to artfully paint with sound in her latest release, and her newest fans here at Sistra are glad she keeps making her art. We’re excited to hear more from this promising young talent.

Sweet Escape is a good choice for a summer beach road trip playlist, and the instrumental version of Special Tee & Sol Brothers’ remix is another solid option if you’re looking for something a bit different, with more emphasis on the dancing, maybe for when you reach the beach, or whatever your sweet escape might be.

I Want It More Than You by Mick J. Clark

0

Sometimes I feel lucky when I get the chance to listen to someone’s music and his songwriting and compositions aren’t like what we hear nowadays. Yeah! Today, I am talking about one of these icons, Mick J. Clark

The first time to hear of Mick J. Clark was earlier this year when I check my teammate wrote about his single “Anuther Sunny Hulliday” and how she was amazed by the production and the song output, also, I got the chance to listen to another track which is ‘It’s Getting Near Christmas’ and I loved how the vibes go smoothly, and here you go, I am lucky again to listen to his latest hit, I Want It More Than you. You should not only talk about the composition and its mix, also, I love how the topic is so energetic in which he mentioned that it’s his song for England at the World Cup. Frankly, I love how enthusiastic it is indeed.

Just want it more than they do and you’ll win !!!

I Want It More Than You’, Come on the lad’s !!!

Definitely, I wasn’t surprised to find the production and the song structure very powerful and tight because if you don’t know, we are talking about the 64th Grammy Nominee for his Album ‘Causes’. In addition, reaching number 3 in the UK, and second in the USA iTunes Top 100 Rock Songs in June 2020 through his song that was dedicated to the Global Warning, ‘We Know It’s True’. And I cannot forget to mention more than a million streams on Spotify for his songs via Sonorus Record Label and 54 of his songs are being played in shops by Emerge Media. And you can find more about his impressive career through his website here

Finally, Mick’s songs are very smooth really, and I would say that the strong point of his music, along with the emotive singing style, is how he implements a great mixture of modern and vintage rock vibes and deliver an exceptional balance. Ah! Don’t miss the solo! Enjoy! 😉
