Drive Away by Karen Harding

0

Singer-songwriter music is becoming a lost art nowadays.. Growing, if nothing more severe, more synthetic and inorganic by the day. So, it’s naturally very refreshing when we come across someone who’s into bringing back that style of music, in its most intimate and organic ways.

Karen Harding is a Melbourne, Australia songstress who’s into folk and soft pop. Her music is generally based around her acoustic guitar, ethereal waves of atmospheric strings, and reverberated angelic vocals. Her single, Drive Away, is a part of her 4-songs EP, which will be released one song at a time, with a new song dropping every month. Written in the depth of the Covid-19 lockdowns, the desolation of that very difficult time clearly shows in the howled choruses and the generally dark music with eerie strings hanging in the background almost constantly. The mix has a very roomy and intimate quality that will put you right next to the singer in a warm, quiet pub somewhere. One major achilles’ heel to point out, though, is how out of tune the vocals go at some point during the choruses, which sound disruptive and negatively affect the flow of an otherwise very fluid and soaring piece of music.

Karen Harding has a ton of potential, and I’ll be waiting for more songs from her upcoming EP, hoping for a less desolate tone, and a more in-tune delivery.

Summerstorm by Milena Galasso

A melodious singer and songwriter coming from an Italian/Serbian heritage blowing us off with her voice “Milena Galasso” who is currently based and making music in London with her friends who collaborates with her in this project “Alex Rigueiro” the Spanish Musician and “Phil Boothroyd” an English songwriter. Milena has released her first ever which will be released on the 9th of Sep. 2022 called “Summerstorm” which has the perfect atmosphere for this summer’s mood.

The song “Summerstorm” is released at the most perfect timing of the year that will give you the special summer vibes and feel-good song with Milena’s harmonic voice she adds in this piece is beautiful with a lot of emotions that she easily connects through her vocals and music in this one.

“Summerstorm” lyrics are beautifully structured with the instrumental elements that have the ability to send an uplifting muse to your soul, this song allows your anxiety to calm down magnificently while listening to it.

It contains a relatable storyline, pleasing vocals, and lush instrumentation scented with a nostalgic indie-pop aroma that is perfect to listen to while sitting in a busy café that will turn it into a peaceful haven for you.

4 Minute Mile by Luego

Texas is home to many strange things and contradictions, A museum of the weird and a cathedral of junk are 2 real-life things that call the state home. Luego is from Texas, and while their music is a little weird, it is certainly not junk.

Revolving around the vision and the sound of Patrick Phelan, and Mark McKee’s production, Luego is releasing its upcoming album one song at a time. Their latest release is 4 Minute Mile. A song about moving on too fast from being is a sad phase. From a guy who’s gone all the way from meeting someone to marrying and eventually divorcing them during the pandemic alone, Phelan probably has some lessons to teach us about speed.

4 Minute Mile is a glistening pop tune. A melting pot of pop ideas and cliches, thrown together with a dash of unique character and a splash of direct imitation, a very delicate recipe, that can hit or miss. The vocals are polarizing, and the processed parts are overly processed, while not sounding bad, they sound human and alienating, combined with the (almost) naturally sung parts that do show that Phelan has a beautiful singing voice, the processed parts end up sounding unnecessary. The music is flawless.  The production is airy and vast, the percussion is sparse and serves the general atmosphere of airiness quite well. A standout is a guitar. The acoustic sounds warm and subtle, adding great depth while never attracting the limelights, as those are reserved for the electric, which soars in the crescendo with a dazzling melody, featuring a fuzzed-out tone that’s an unexpected surprise. One gripe, though, dancing girls in the music video is an outdated trope that could have been improved upon with a little storyline or even a more engaging setting than the matted-out cyan walls backdrop. I know nothing about making music videos, though, so this is just an opinion.

Luego’s latest release borrows from Ye and Post Malone and adds their own signature beneath to create something truly unique while sounding vaguely familiar. This recipe was done well, and we can’t wait for more.

Diversity by Akosch Warga

Have you ever heard music that terrified you and at the same time felt wonderful? This is what happened to me when I heard the music composed by composer and producer Ákos Zságer-Varga or as he is known as Akosch Warga in the most recent piece I dropped “Diversity”, it might leave something strange in your head.

Wonderful music that fills you with pleasure does not have to be joyful, and this is what “Diversity” assures us, its tones coming from a world with a dark atmosphere will take you to a place you may not have imagined before, or you thought that music can do to you as you will do this piece.

A diverse mix of musical elements blended with the mindset of the masterful Berlin-based composer, featuring a Hungarian element playing the Bulgarian gadulka, and an Israeli voice appearing in an Arabic sentence to a slow hip-hop rhythm laced with clear electronic elements.

Perhaps Warga will deceive you at first that there is an electronic error and that the track is finished before it begins, but it is only an opening that paves the way for the electronic waves that will attract us with gloomy steps on a beat-like sound made of bass and electronic drum, to a deep, high-rise, dark cave world that is almost visible It’s your hands, you keep walking and you don’t know why, despite what some lightning electronic waves do to you, maybe because the music has cast a spell on you, the Bulgarian instrument tones appear to give a more terrifying and sad cover with the support of a piano key, the bass appears clearer while the mix continues and quickly A wind instrument appears that does not know where it is coming from, accompanied by echoes of a voice that ends with the phrase “nor the lost.” And then you realize that this dark world has swallowed you up, and a light electronic beat accelerates with the appearance of another oriental instrument confirming victory, then the whole melody turns to serve the solo playing of the gadulka that makes you sway from what happened in you as you walk through this world that will end with the dark piano tones.

Some may see in this musical scene a solo theatrical scene performed by only one actor on stage through a modern dance that expresses loss and fear perhaps, and its lighting time will be the third assistant actor after the amazing Warga music.

Akosch Warga has composed many soundtracks for theater in the past 20 years and has played electronic music with the ZAGAR team.

“Diversity” is the second chapter in a trilogy of “Independence, Diversity, and Integrity”, in which Warga believes the world would be a much better place if we paid more attention to these three elements.

If you are not a fan of listening to music without any words and find it difficult to understand or translate its message, Warga will influence you to transform and realize the power of music to influence and control emotions more than words. Try to hear him.

Just Another Minute by ALIBII

0

A duo from Sydney Courtney Egginton and Will Cumberledge has combined their voices and created “Alibii,” It was established in 2020 when they met while studying music and both find a unique opportunity to put the genres they love combined to burst out an astonishing music. They have released a new single for the year “Just Another Minute” which was released on the 19th of August, 2022 after working on it for a year.

The song is beautifully put together with both vocals synced in the lyrics for this lyrics as it’s about being lost in time suddenly with the busy lives we lead, being carried away, and saying it’s fate. The melodious and uplifting music they created together has immense feelings and emotions about what they want to put out there for their listeners.

Alibii is going to be a big hit with the creative and melodic songs they make with the help of Ariq Sulthan, Katie Helms, and Miya Borthwick and perform with them in their lives. Give their first release “But I” a chance to listen to while both will give you a wild feeling in you that makes you invincible with the tunes that are played within the music.

“Just Another Minute” is perfect for a night drive through a city and your partner and getting through the day together with a peaceful mind and soul.

Soul Scapes EP by Lia Nxieta

0

A limelight City street post-midnight while the emptiness is surrounding the asphalt path, breezing in some cold air through the long swinging hair. Enjoying a beautiful vibe while being young and having no intention of growing old and grumpy.

That’s how ‘Lia Nxieta cast a vibe out to me with her debut EP “Soul Scapes”, hailing from Switzerland and releasing her first EP after releasing three solo singles which got her several bookings across Switzerland.

Lia’s main genre is R&B having a poppy flick to her releases, and a synth touch that is maintaining its signature and sound throughout the EP with a stable background theme. The thing that made the EP so correlated in vibe and unified the whole experience.

Soul Scapes”  is formed of four tracks, ‘Birthday Wishes’ comes first with a reverbed melodic synth, and reminds you of a hell lot of pop/R&B hit classics with the very attractive vocal lines from Lia that quickly pulls you through to keep on opening that jaw of yours when ‘Stars Are Aligning’ follows, with a very unique intro that reminds me of the interstellar main theme -which I think was intentional, speaking of stars. Do you agree? Tell us in the comment section below- Then the perfect flow later anticipates along the soothing melodies and drums and the track keeps smoothly with Lia’s nostalgic vocal lines to put the pieces together.

The third one titled ‘Another Lover’ is more of a modern track than the previous two, smoothly Lia keeps on flaming with her unique vocals.

Rhythm’ is the fourth track on the list, also synthful and aligning with the rest of the tracks but with a modern touch to it just like the third track.

Though ‘Soul Scapes’ is very matching itself in terms of sound, it sometimes felt repetitive using patterns that are close in sound and melodies that do not differ much from each other.

I really enjoyed playing “Soul Scapes” on my headphones and really wish Lia Nxieta could’ve added more tracks to the EP with the same energy and vibe.

Spectres of Summer by Tomorrows Child

0

Tomorrow’s Child just dropped his 3rd single ‘Spectres of Summer’ from his upcoming debut album “Beach Ghosts”; a hardcore electronic, experimental track with a wide range of sound effects and synths that changes themes throughout the song with a subtle, smooth build-up while sustaining the main beat. The style and vibe of the artists’ music are highly inspired by themes of the 1990s tracks and artists like Goldie, Massive Attack, and Moby combined with abstract genres like Future Garage and Witch House.

The artist’s upbringing and hometown play an important role in his musicality and way of expression; he broke free from the sense of imprisonment and loss of hope that overtook him in his hometown High Wycombe where he was surrounded by dull concrete bricks and car parks. The year 2015 was another turning point in the artist’s life; as he moved to Cornwall and his father passed, then he decided to study popular music at university, resulting in a change in his musical direction from a guitar player, singer, and songwriter to an electronic music creator.

The song release is accompanied by an official music video that combines different footage and images taken in Gwithian & Redruth in Cornwall and Chania & Sougia in Crete, combining beautiful scenery, breathtaking sunsets, and a sense of softness. A song that will undoubtfully end your summer on a high note.

Silence by T. Houze

0

When it comes to art in all its forms and types, I won’t be exaggerating when I say it’s life-changing, it makes humans better, kinder, more in control, and surely helps them overcome lots of obstacles and challenges.

T. Houze is not new to the artistic scene; the Washington DC-based photographer has a long creative journey and a successful portfolio between portraiture, event-style work, short documentaries, music videos, and filmmaking skills. Although Travis Houze released his debut album “Midnight Season” last year yet, the concept of the album was created between 2011-2013 because he had no intention of releasing it to the public and was simply a way for him to vent, and deal with his insecurities from his childhood.

After overcoming his fear and finally releasing it, he received remarkable feedback and response from his audience that led to another upcoming album “Iridescent” as part of his “Duology” series that’s produced by BeatBauerJonas.

“Silence” is the first single released from the upcoming album; a chill song with wavy rhythms, a laid-back attitude, and rich musical concepts. The song was inspired by a trip to a serene beach area in Block Island in Rhode Island where the artist had no service on his phone which gave him the space to relax and create.

The bass line has a significant role in this single that can’t be missed, it remains in the background as if the bass has a world of its own, combining ethereal yet subtle melodies that keep drawing your attention back to it.

The piano plays a sequence of familiar and soothing chords that your ears expect, complimenting the overall ambiance yet not taking the attention from the bass and vocal lines. The song has an overall blues and jazzy feel mixed with a hip-hop-like vocal line. Houze collaborated with Ro Bettenelli whom he only met virtually on this track, where she added a soft and “Tropical” feel with her voice.

Interview with GIANFRANCO GFN

0

GIANFRANCO’s career began with recording in 2011 with the album “Linea,” followed in 2014 by the album “Interlude,” and then in 2016 with the production of “DownTown In Person ’70s,” and the album “Ca’giazz” in 2019. Then he started working on his album in February 2020.

Gianfranco’s musical style seems to be evolving more and more over time. And right now he’s releasing his new album “TROUBADOUR,” so we wanted to talk to him about everything.

Hi Gianfranco,

1-    Tell us more about your upcoming album, “TROUBADOUR”

TROUBADOUR was a long work because with the pandemic I had to work completely differently! It was very laborious, but today the results are there and I am very proud. In this adventure participated more than 20 artists.

2-    From your point of view,  what stands out from your latest single, Bonnie & Clyde?

Bonnie & Clyde was conceived on the idea that I wanted more Latin music! But not actual, because I like to keep my style… When I first read the text the music almost came by itself! Text and music were a perfect match!

3- Where did the idea for the song Bonnie & Clyde come from?

The idea of this piece was that I wanted to make music and a text about characters! But as I always say, without talking about politics and religion, nor making provocation! Hence the story is about the love and passion of two people who love each other in their context…

4-    Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

Of course and I’m already at work with a lot of new demos! I think 1-2 songs will be presented by the end of this year.

5-    what do you think is missing from today’s music scene?

We need a coalition to defend the artists better! The net has destroyed everything, but we can’t do less! We have to be present and it costs us! We need to create something that can help us better, especially to be able to earn our money better! But say that and do it……

6-    What has been the hardest moment you have faced since you started? And which is the most beautiful and satisfying?

I might surprise you, but I have always worked in a conscious way that everything is not easy, you have to sweat, and work, to achieve something! nothing is free or acquired in advance without anything! So you always go through hard and difficult moments first, and then your work comes as a reward.
Today I’m releasing my 4th album, I started my solo career in 2011, and with all that I went through, work, and the problems I had to face, today I’m proud, and I’m pumped up to launch my 5th album.

7-    Would you like to collaborate with someone?

It would be wonderful and it would only enrich my knowledge, but to tell you who it is is difficult because I have so many artists that I love, but I think that if it happens one day, it doesn’t matter who it is! It will be just beautiful.

8-    What/who influences you most as an artist?

The dream, because it’s something that no one can take away, it’s freedom, and with dreams, we make a lot of things.

Bonnie & Clyde by GIANFRANCO GFN

“Bonnie & Clyde” is the story of two outlaw lovers who build their unconditional love on understanding without the need for communication. It is a lyrical definition of “soulmates,” a life made of choices that do not see death as an obstacle.

In “Bonnie & Clyde,” the enchanting voices of Paula Bright & Vladi Carbone shine on an enjoyable expanse of musical notes created by GIANFRANCO GFN, a song that will make you dance and breathe joy without worry and forget everything for a moment.

“Bonnie & Clyde” is a wonderful mix of Pop-Latino and Commercial Pop that brings out trumpets and drums with a lively and positive Latin rhythm and hot rhythms that hit your body, which gives space for solo singing.

GIANFRANCO’s recording career began in 2011 with the album “Linea,” followed in 2014 by the album “Interlude,” then in 2016 with the production of “DownTown In Person 70’s,” and the album “Ca’giazz” in 2019. And now we’re waiting for their next project, coming soon.
