Just Keep Dancing by Son Savage

0

Dancing is an excellent way to unwind from the stresses of everyday life, revitalize your spirit, and feel liberated. You don’t need much to start dancing; simply get up, play a song to set the mood, and bust a groove to the beat. Son Savage’s “Just Keep Dancing” has just been released to get you in the mood to party.

Son Savage is the alter-ego of Lebanese-Dubai-based singer-songwriter Charbel Ghanime. He decided to invade the summer with his energetic vibes in “Just Keep Dancing.” Sleiman Damien, a Lebanese music producer, co-produced the song. It was just released on July 15, yet it has already topped the International Charts on Anghami—an Arabic music streaming platform—in many Arabic countries and has entered the Top 10 and Top 5 in most other countries across MENA only one day after its release.

“Just Keep Dancing” is a fusion of Pop, Funk, and Disco with electronic elements. It’s the kind of song you listen to on the radio in the morning rush hour, and it instantly transforms your mood from grumpy to euphoric. It has bouncy beats that will get you moving no matter where you are. Son Savage has dynamic, perky vocals, which gave me some Justin Timberlake vibes.

The summer’s anthemic lyricism is simple and efficient. It’s meant to be an irresistible charm. How can someone hear the chirpy vocals sing:

“Heart to heart

To hands

To the beat, baby

C’mon baby

Don’t say a word baby and just keep

Dancing”

And not instantly dance all over the place?

The production is as fresh and crisp as the early morning sea breeze. It’s structured to sound as light as the movement of the beats. Lastly, the song has a music video that matches its energy. It’s colorful and spirited.

Whatever you’re doing and wherever you’re, hit the play button below and “Just Keep Dancing.”

Cancer Sun EP by Amie Jay

0

Simple pop should remain simple! It seems trendy nowadays to make music complex (Thanks Polyphia). Add more chords, flex your technical abilities, and make your audience work real hard to keep up. Not to say that there’s no fun in that… but there should always remain a place for simple music. Easy-listening gems that flow by harmlessly. And in that sphere, Amie Jay fits like a glove.

Amie is a songstress from Wimbledon. Lush, confident, and lavish is how I would describe both the artist and her home city. On this EP, Cancer Sun, Amie sings of her star sign. If you know any Cancers, you sure know they’re temperamental, tend to harbor insecurities, be closed off… but more so reliable, strong, and oh so sweet… and that latter one is the one best on display here.

Starting from the poppy, jumpy ‘Unashamed’. The production quality is astonishing and the mix is lush and harmonious. What lacks in the vocal dynamics is made up for with a very engaging composition with multiple sections that vary in magnitude without ever sounding dull or flat. ‘Cancer Sun’ might be the least memorable song on the project, with a grand sound and a minimal beat, and a huge chorus section. It’s the shortest song and despite being as sweet as anything, it doesn’t go long enough or offer enough elements to make it stand out. ‘Sweet Nostalgia’ on the other hand is a song that’s perfectly at home being blasted on Netflix’s next super popular teen drama. With a driving beat and a very efficient mix and vocals, it’s a song that perfectly utilizes Amie’s whole vocal abilities and puts them where they shine the most. But despite the huge praise, the title of my favorite on the EP goes to the closer ‘Start Again’… sweet, grand, warm, and emotive, a song that shows Amie as a mature songwriter capable of more than radio hits. Because this song might lull a little too slow for radio stardom, but is heartfelt enough to win over a staunch lover of music.

This EP is very good. But it is surely missing a very important element… many more songs. Thanks Amie!

Où es-tu by VAN ELST

0

The latest composition from Dutch dream-pop/electronica composer VAN ELST is entitled “OU ES-TU”. As you might have already guessed, this song deals with the sense of loss (presumably that of a friend or a loved one). Creating songs that release a huge amount of emotional energy is not a new thing to the dutchie mastermind, but contemplating loss with such a gripping and dark tone is something rare to achieve from any artist, and let me tell you why Mr. VAN ELST nails it this time around.

The song plays with vocal harmonies between wailing high-pitched lines and very low heartbroken ones. Complementing those are a set of lead synths/keyboards that feel bright and hopeful, only to be shattered by the dark basslines beneath it. That juxtaposition put me in a state of searching only to find nothing and wandering only to get further lost. The percussion can’t be left without praise as well as it has a sense of being futuristic as well as cinematic.

It makes you feel like you’re in a hazy landscape searching for that loved person you lost, only to be met with the wailing vocals confirming how you’ll never find them again. The track is beautifully heart-shattering and works as a soundtrack/score for a beautiful tale of loss, but it’s also listenable on its own and that’s mindblowing. I imagined it played in the middle of a movie as sad as its lyrics, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it as a standalone composition that’s been crafted with mastery and deep emotional detail.

I Want To See You Again by Noelle Toland

Country singer Noelle Toland recently released her single “I want to see you again”. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, the artist draws her inspiration from 90’s country music. The singer collaborated with a legendary guitarist and songwriter Steve Copper on this track, and was produced and co-written by Chris Condon (Guitarist and music director of Billy Ray Cyrus) what an amazing choice that’s been!

The song starts with a beautiful tune on the guitar, and Toland’s melodic vocals. Her vocals are super rich and lifting, giving this song a very positive vibe to it. The lyrics are so beautiful, about falling in love and wanting to see the person again. This song is reminiscent of early Taylor Swift, with the same love lyrics and sweet acoustic tunes, and I absolutely loved the cute lyric video! Not to mention Steve copper’s crisp guitar playing, It’s no wonder this track has already garnered almost 3500 streams on Spotify alone.

All in all, this is sure to put Toland on the map and will catapult her into superstardom. This is a very solid country song, and Toland is on her way to modernizing old-school country music!

Soldier of the Modern Day by Jenny Colquitt

Jenny Colquitt released her new single “Soldier of modern-day”. Colquitt is a singer and songwriter hailing from the United Kingdom, and is a decorated musician, winning “female artist of the year” in 2021/2022 and GSMC’s award for best female solo singer/songwriter.

The first time I listened to this song, it reminded me greatly of “21 Guns” by Green Day. same mellow lyrics and weeping guitars. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Colquitt’s beautiful harmonious voice, super soothing to the ear! I especially loved the build-up in the song, where things started getting more intense. The drums make an entrance and the guitar gets louder, it got me super excited. Something I adored about the song is its cover art! It looks like an oil painting and signifies the solitude we feel in this modern day and age.

All in all, Jenny just gained one more dedicated fan. This single could be part of a soundtrack for a movie, more specifically it would be perfect as exit music for a film. The mellowness of the lyrics and the intensity of the music paired super well together to create this amazing outcome.

Speak No Evil by Becca Starr

A Scottish artist “Becca Starr” based in Glasgow, UK shows off her lovely talent through her voice and her rap skill is spectacular, I love the mix between her melodic vocals, hip hop, and rap which are merged into one is superbly amazing. She has signed in with “In Black Records” and will release a new album on the 18th of August, 2022 “Speak No Evil” superb honesty in her voice while singing is truly touching, and the tracks that are in this album will blow off your mind.

The album starts with an “intro (Warm Up)” where Becca is telling us to warm up to what is coming a story of what we’re gonna expect on this album that she created for her listeners, then comes “I Forgot” which starts with a melodic piano tune, she sings through the first part then starts to wrap her feelings about her childhood and life experiences when forgetting how to feel those events that left a cultivating memory in her.

A track called “Tides” blasts off an awesome rap from the beginning till the end with rhythmic beats playing along, loathing the damages that are done by human beings, and how ignorant they can be towards what has been caused by our kind. “Fear Of Death” track is a melodious and beautiful yet sorrowful track, Becca sings in this one with her lush and strong vocals that will get you like WoW! Sings the hurtful emotions of what can love can do to your heart “It’s in my mind, a fear of death I can’t describe, but I won’t hate you, cuz you don’t love me no more.”

“ITSDARKUPTHERE” is a unique track, where Becca gives a poem with sorrowful music background, it’s a 2-minute poem explaining the darkness one feels towards what can be lost and the difficulty you face whenever you overthink things that can hurt you mentally but not physically that people can visibly see, dark thoughts that sometimes can overwhelm you, however, some bright words are said in the end with encouragement and serenity even though you get those bad thoughts.

A calypso intro in this one is nostalgic as if you’re in a Mario kart game, “First Step” is emotionally heavy with different stories that Becca’s lyrics that is so frantic with the anxiety and fear, the music carries a melodious grooviness vibe in it that can blow off your bass. ”Half of Me” is featuring a unique rapper “Wee D.” this has a miraculous melody with sorrowful and dark vibes yet energetic execution with hyped rapping both gives to this piece.

Finally, “Speak No Evil” is low tempo music with angelic singing Becca starts this piece off with her soft vocal, it has a mix of melodic and acoustic guitar playing along, which is so uniquely beautiful and different, Becca wishes to show her hidden talents in all of her previous work, with great skill of songwriting and singing.

Becca Starr has a great ability to send her message clear enough for her listeners to understand what she is trying to communicate, each hurtful heartbreak that leads to traumas and mental illness is what we go through, however, Becca shows that you can naturally be resilient and get back in track to go through any tragic loss you’ve experienced that might have changed you to your worst shape, but you can yet get in track learning inner peace and fight your demons.

Her music is brilliant, for all the people out there looking for some music to push you forward that won’t let you down by the end of the music but will continue with each piece that plays, the album “Speak No Evil” is the perfect moody and energetic tracks you can listen to.

So Much Love by Calista Kazuko

Calista Kazuko a Japanese pop artist based in London has strong lush vocals she delivers in her latest release on the 15th of July, 2022 in a loving single “So Much Love” that has jazzy soft vibes to it, joining forces with Fred Claridge on drums and Sam Weston on bass and was recorded at the Temple Music Studio.

As a multi-talented mother-to-be is spectacular, producing this music that is so full of loving emotions “So Much Love” has the most optimistic vibes that I have heard in it.

Calista has a soft melodious voice when she sings in this one that digs deep into your brain with tremendous calming feels. The song is fused with jazz and a lovely piano play that gets you to imagine every word she softly sings in this piece with bluish colors all over the room.

Calista mentioned in one of her interviews “So Much Love is my very first love song, can you believe it? I thought it was about time! We recorded while I was super pregnant and loved up on oxytocin, so this song is for the love you feel as a partner, a parent, a child, a friend, a human full of SO MUCH LOVE!” This is so true that you can feel it in her voice and the lyrics of the song.

A music video was taken place at the Temple Music Studio with their live performance thanks to the filmmaker Philip Reinking that captures the talented moments of making this masterpiece, Calista showing being the queen of her world and what she is creating for her child.

Don’t Tell Me by Postcard

0

Don’t Tell Me is the debut single from Rochester-based artist Haiden Gerstner, better known by his stage-name Postcard. The most fascinating thing about Postcard is the fact that he wrote and recorded every instrument on this track, alone and in his house. To think that up-and-coming artists of today still have that passion for rock warms my heart, especially when it’s an arrangement of nostalgic post-punk meets modern surfer rock like this one. The track begins with a simple chord progression, and then swiftly changes into a faster segment. With many refrains where Postcard shows his soft head voice and how well it contrasts with the chest voice- the latter of those is what comprises most of the song. It’s great to see such variety from an up-and-coming singer and it made me anticipate more vocal abilities to appear on future records. Another thing I loved so much was the short but fast-paced guitar solo that he managed to beautifully fit into a 2-minute song. The prominent snare drums and grounded bass lines meet seamless guitar progressions in what feels like a marriage between genres. This is what you would get if The Cure were to collaborate on a song with Fall Out Boy. I have high hopes for the future projects of Postcard, as he definitely knows what he’s doing and can come up with a banger of a song like Don’t Tell Me.

Cry by Wrash Heed

Wrash Heed brings his beats from the heart of the brown continent, where he hails from Lagos, Nigeria, to entertain us with every new release, and here we find ourselves hearing the latest produced track “Cry”, which will take us on a very quiet journey of 2 minutes and 26 seconds.

Wrash Heed explored a variety of vocal techniques through which he created his unique style of voice and writing, and this is evident in his new solo track that depicts the experiences he may have gone through, being famous and living the bustling celebrity life.

When I listened to this track, I was amazed that the word “Cry” was repeated more than 20 times, and far from being the name of the track, it reflects feelings such as sadness, regret, wonder, acknowledgment of wrongdoing, and above all love.

The track talks about Wrash Heed’s feelings about what his girlfriend is going through after she made the decision to date him, and at some point made her cry because of him, so we find him admitting “And I know I’m the one that made your hurt”, being one of the famous artists or people will suffer from With him because of his life stolen from him because managing fame is not easy.

The lyrics of “Cry” are charming and the sound of Wrash Heed is capable of melting any girl’s heart, which perfectly fits the purpose of the track. The amazing soundtracks mixed with Afrobearts and R&B music provide a great backing that you will love.

As a singer and songwriter, Wrash Heed is determined to express himself and his feelings through his music. However, he sees himself as a project in progress and still has a long way to go, and he has big dreams that he will work to achieve. He shared his dreams because they really will dance to you to their tunes.

Tornado Road by Cities in Dust

After their 3rd single released earlier this year “The Other Son”, the band is back with a fresh sound and a chill single fitting for the summer season “Tornado Road”.  A breezy track with remarkable guitar tunes played by Billy ‘Smile’ Imrie, a sweet piano melody, a dreamy bass line played by Jim Dorney, and soft drum beats that are performed by Leo Brown. The song was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Whitehouse Studios and released on Musical Bear ‘Records’. The song is about facing our fears and fully embracing ourselves, no more hiding behind masks, and no more being hindered by the past. As Ady Baker, the frontman and vocalist describes further: “It’s about driving ahead full pelt; down the road, you feel has no end. Letting go of your hopes and dreams in different ways, even to dream in a different language.”

The UK-based band’s music was playlisted on BBC Music Introducing and they have played with remarkable artists like Idles, Dodgy, Red Snapper, Jesus Jones, and others. The band is coming back to live performance and stage life on September 3rd at Bunkfest in Wallingford where they will be performing several originals. The song is available on all streaming platforms, make sure to check it out and enjoy it, preferably on an evening car ride with the chill summer breeze.
