Reality Spaces by Monochrome Midnight Traveller

0

With such an iconic name like Monochrome Midnight Traveller…you know you’re in for a treat, both visually and sonically…and they deliver…

Hong Kong based musical and visual artist duo Monochrome Midnight Traveller gives the world “Reality Spaces” from their

debut EP of the same name.

“Reality Spaces” the song also releases with a music video…and as the musical duo’s name might tell us…the music video is in black and white and let me get this out of the way…it has a very strong hypnotizing effect, beware…the visual are awesome…and paired with somber electro synth music…it’s one hell of a multi-sensory approach to music enjoyment…

I literally lost myself watching their music video…I kept staring at the flashing scenes, lights and snippets that make up their video…it’s a wild trip…even though the music is not heavy or filled with bass blasting beats…the music is super effective in creating a sonic world that goes hand in hand with the video.

The video is shot very professionally, with strong and bold visual elements, so does the music too…it’s subtle, but very effective, with the vocals being dreamy…it’s more of a story, it’s a film…it’s an experience.

“Reality Spaces” is a very unique multi-sensory musical experience that is not to be missed.

We wish all the best to the awesome musical duo of Monochrome Midnight Traveller and can’t wait to see what they come up with next…but we’re sure it’s going to be super unique and amazing.

Cheers!

I Break by CLARE EASDOWN

0

Clare Easdown is tackling depression and mental health disorders in her latest single “I Break”…trying to be the light at the end of the tunnel…giving people hope and making them feel heard and seen.

“I Break” is the result of a collaboration between Clare Easdown and producer Jeremy Burns after they met on Instagram…it was recorded between Sydney and Newcastle, and it has a very strong electronic presence with the use of synths and hard beats…it’s a dark tuned song that tackles a dark topic…

The music production is top-notch, very melodic, very dark, highly polished musical trip…and Clare is putting her soul into the vocal lines, with every bit of emotion of the topic being very real and very palpable.

This is a very courageous artistic step from Clare and Jeremy, taking such a heavy topic as depression and converting it into a sonic world with all the details of the mind shining through.

We can’t wait to see what Clare comes up with next, we’re wondering what kind of topic will she be tackling next.

Wishing all the best to Clare, she deserves the best…and a bit more.

Cheers!

EP: Metamorphosis, Pt. 1 by LEE MILLER MATSOS

0

Lee Miller Matsos’s “Metamorphosis, Pt.” is an emotionally charged EP that will take you on an intense rollercoaster where you’ll sense both pain and hope in your core. The EP doesn’t take us on a random journey; it takes us on our own bumpy healing journey, so you better be emotionally prepared because it’s overwhelming yet enjoyable.

When an opera and musical theater performer turns to a musician, something epic like “Metamorphosis, Pt. 1” must be the result. The introspective lyricism is offered by a sincere, passionate performance, where you get to feel every lyric and go to the depths along with the relatable story.

“Metamorphosis, Pt. 1” is a mixture of Pop and Rock, where the musical arrangement manages to convey both ache and grace to align with the six-track’s themes. It’s incredible how all the components work together to make the songs hit a sensitive chord and make you feel as if you’re hearing your personal story, which makes you feel that you’re not alone. “The pain of metamorphosis is “our pain.” We are never alone in our pain, as much as it might seem that way.” Lee Miller Matsos says.

Hearing the six songs, I felt a resemblance to Coldplay; nevertheless, the talented artist has his own authentic flair and outstanding musical artistry. Each song is distinct from the other; the passionate instruments sing along with the melodic vocals differently to deliver a certain emotion that belongs to a certain life phase. However, they’ll feel connected and move in a harmonic sequence to make a gentle transition from the first song “Just A Little Lift” and its mellow introduction with the captivating piano notes along to Lee’s heartwarming vocals, moving to more spirited yet painful like “Metamorphosis” and “Who Are They To Stop Love,” then melancholic with heart-melting, powerful vocals and swaying rhythms in “Forgiveness,” and lastly, we conclude with more insightful, graceful pieces, which are “Worthy” and the closing track, “Another Life.”

Every song has an individual listening experience, quality musicality, and a soul-stirring vocal performance. I liked them all; however, there’s a song that captured my attention the most. I felt connected and touched by every little detail about it, and I kept repeating it many times, feeling the same serene and positive feeling at every repeat. The song is “Worthy,” which is an inspirational message with dreamy soundscapes and intense emotional nuances.

You might be walking alone on your journey, but Lee Miller Matsos decided to walk along with you in his own sensational way. “Metamorphosis, Pt. 1” is here to solace you and push you to go the extra mile whenever you’re ready. Your journey gets to be filled with haunting melodies and colored with energetic rhythms; don’t you feel it’s already better?

Album: Interstellar Radio by LUKE TANGERINE

0

Frankfurt-based composer and producer Luke Tangerine invites us and the world to jump into the DeLorean and get back in time to the 80s aesthetic realm, where he’s created his own version of the time period…and will take us for a spin in this world with his latest album “Interstellar Radio”.

“Interstellar Radio” is focused on all 80s stuff, synth-wave, electro-drum sounds…all the essentials are present…and Luke adds on top of these 80s life necessities his own mojo, his own views, and musicality.

…you’ll get to hear some modern hard-hitting synth sounds and trendy musical ideas mixed in with the nostalgic…

This nostalgic treasure chest of an album contains 11 tracks…and it was inspired by the 80s, space, sci-fi, and…the universe!

Even in the track names, this can be noticed, with tracks like “Edge of the Universe”…” Solar System”…and the album’s name itself too.

The album is diverse in its 80s aesthetic direction…meaning that not all of what you’ll hear is upbeat, or fast-paced…there is melancholy…there are darker tones to this aesthetic that Luke is exploring.

For example…the first track is “Pulsar” which gives us a very distinct indicator of the time-traveling journey that we’re about to embark on…then the energy keeps building up with “Solar Storm” with more hard-hitting synths and beats.

Then Luke changes things up with “Edge of the Universe”…a very ambient musical journey as a backdrop with some energetic drum beats…yet it feels more ambient…

“Exoplanet” takes our breath away with some iconic 80s synth sounds and true to the period melodies…I know that it’s original, yet it feels right at home in the 80s…it’s crazy good.

Luke’s “Singularity” track explores a very sci-fi picturesque view of interstellar space…it’s very thought-provoking…it makes you wonder at the sky…and visualize some unreal landscapes.

The amount of musicality…melodies…and perfectly picked sounds are staggering…” Interstellar Radio” is the definitive retro album to take you to the 80s…it’s the easiest and safest time machine you’ll ever jump into…so far!

We won’t spoil the fun exploring the rest of the tracks…but all we can say is that the album continued to surprise us with one musical twist after another all through its 11 songs…

The music got us to wonder so many questions…but one question wanted an answer…is Luke Tangerine a time traveler? We might never know, but his music is so 80s perfection that we wondered.

Luke has some awesome music that is more into the cinematic realm on his YouTube page, check out his works and enjoy.

Luke, we wish you all the best in your musical journey and in your life journey as well.

Can’t wait to experience what you have next for the world…we look forward to your next musical adventure.

Cheers!

Mother Of The Night by MAMA BLUE

0

Honoring her ancestors and their legacy, Mama Blue has released her single “Mother Of The Night” as a way to uphold and praise her lineage that comes from Smyrna.

Based in Athens, Greece, Mama Blue A.K.A. Kate is taking a futuristic approach to tell the world the stories of her ancestors…through pop/trap mixed with an ethnic Balkan melodic approach, Mama Blue is here to build her musical empire.

“Mother Of The Night” sounds very trendy, and current…but it also has very authentic Balkan voices, melodies, and instruments…like the duduk woodwind instrument…it fills the song and goes head to head with the new synth sounds and modern beats.

This mix creates something new, something we didn’t hear before…and from there, as Mama Blue told us, she will start from here and onward to build her musical empire…

…if she keeps creating new and fresh musical ideas she will have her empire in no time…the audience wants something new and she delivers.

The song also has big and fat-sounding 808s with strong beats…so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Wishing all the best to Mama Blue, we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Cheers!

D.O.C. EP by DOC BREEZUS

USA-based rap/hip-hop artist Doc Breezus released his “D.O.C.EP” with 3 instant hits…

A must-listen to experience for any and all rap/hip-hop listeners out there.

Doc does everything by himself…he produces, mixes, and masters his songs… the songs that he writes and sings/raps…a one-man show for sure that was born from his own room, where he recorded and produced everything.

Fellow producer did the beats for his third song on this EP titled “Cessation”…for the other two songs, Doc did absolutely everything.

If you look at the 3 track names in this EP, you’ll start with “Dedication”, “Over” and “Cessation”…these are based on the Doc in the artist’s name…D, O, and C.

I love it when artists put a bit of interesting stuff like this in their works.

The EP starts with “Dedication” a true rap/hip-hop song, hard-hitting, smooth vocal flow with a darker tint of music…deep and dark.

“Over” mixes folk guitars in the song against the electronic aspects of Doc’s music, giving a very fresh musical experience…

With his last track in the EP, Doc takes yet another fresh turn with “Cessation”, using guitars, going more into the musical storytelling realm…changing his voice too, and mixing up everything…

It feels like the 3 songs here are musically completely different…as if 3 artists created them, but somehow still tied to a single artistic soul and a very focused direction has definitely hit a very musical nerve with “D.O.C.EP” and thus, it a highly recommended listening experience to all listeners and fans of rap/hip-hop…actually, go check it out now.

Wishing Doc all the best in life, we can’t wait to see what he has planned next, but we have a guess…it’s gonna be awesome.

Cheers!

Seeking to Hide by FRANK JOSHUA

0

Frank Joshua surprises everyone with his latest single “Seeking to Hide”, which has a very intriguing sonic world and also a very interesting and unique visual side to it…

Frank’s music is upbeat with strong storytelling elements that pop and shine in the musical progression and the melodies…

The house/pop hybrid “Seeking to Hide” is a very welcome addition to both of Frank’s catalog and our hearts too.

“Seeking to Hide” is the kind of song that you’d enjoy and it would make your day a little better…

…and this time there’s also the music video that accompanies it, which is very intriguing…

The music video has a mix of real and CGI characters sharing the screen…

…and almost every scene has an android in it…whether by themselves or interacting with humans…

The visuals are striking and intriguing…and in contrast to the music, the video is subtle, with minimal action in it while the music pumps the bass!

This contrast adds to the intrigue and also plays with the audience’s perceptions.

“Seeking to Hide” is a very enjoyable ride, with deeper meanings, especially framed in the music video…I’ll leave the interpretation to everyone who takes the plunge into the music video…it’s very fresh.

Wishing all the best to Frank. I can’t wait to see more of his works, we’re always on the lookout.

Cheers!

II. Nimbostratus by BARTOSZ LASECKI

0

Bartosz Lasecki is a Polish-American composer…rooted in classical and eclectic in music…he released a unique single titled “II. Nimbostratus”…and it’s heavy with storytelling.

“II. Nimbostratus” feels like a mix between a classical piece and a soundtrack…with a powerful experimental and avant-garde approach, it gels very well with the concept of the storytelling…it feels like a journey and sounds like a movie…whatever that means, you get it.

Bartosz uses classical instrumentation with woodwinds, brass sections and strings and uses them in unusual ways…sometimes it feels anthemic, sometimes it feels unsettling…

…and on top of that all, he also uses synth sounds, mixes everything together, tells a story…and gives us a very unique sonic experience.

It’s a rollercoaster of emotions…one second you’re running for your life with the orchestral runs…another you’re taking your breath with a huge musical climax that has all orchestral and synth sounds come together at a peak…

“II. Nimbostratus” is an experimental storytelling piece that should be felt and lived…it’s highly recommended that…just brace yourself for the twirling of emotions you’re going to jump into.

I wish all the best to Bartosz…and we need more of this charismatic uniqueness.

Cheers!

The Crypto Shuffle by Ruud Voesten

0

The entrancing jazz experiments of Ruud Voesten continue with his latest and quirkiest release ‘The Crypto Shuffle’. With broken rhythms, dark humour interspersed with pockets of light, Voesten’s latest release is an immersive piece of jazz that sucks you in and keeps you hooked throughout, making you wonder what just happened when the maddened saxophone line utters its last note.

Based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Ruud Voesten is an extremely interesting jazz drummer. After listening to his latest challenging release ‘Goesting’ a couple of months ago, I was chuffed when I got to listen to ‘The Crypto Shuffle’, which turned out to be less challenging, but somehow more chaotic. I don’t know how. Starting with a perky part on the tenor saxophone from Wietse Voermans that doesn’t prepare us for the complex rhythms that are about to ensue, the start-stop line seems lost in time and space, composed enough to stand on its own feet, but utterly disoriented in the best of ways. Voesten’s drum part and Tijs Klaasen’s double bass soon enter, introducing the piece’s full rhythmic grandeur. The piece then proceeds to go through multiple sections of tasteful improv, hard-to-read rhythms, and easy-to-feel motifs.

The mixing and production of the track by Wessel Oltheten of Fattoria Musica studio is genuinely warm and balanced, putting the wooden nature of the genre, and the intricate breathiness of the brass instruments exactly where they belong. ‘The Crypto Shuffle’ is a thoughtful piece of jazz that is masterfully quirky and with a gravity that continues to put Ruud Voesten and his compositions in a very high regard among all his peers.
