Artist and DJ Jody Vukas based in California, US, just released an explosive house/ techno blend called ‘Never Lie’, on the 1st of March. Expect a lot of teasing, and slow-burn music in those six minutes. Vukas is a longtimer in the techno field with a record label called the distant drum. He has a reputable reputation in the clubland, playing in clubs like Cro bar, Space Miami, and Level. He’s inspired by big people in this industry like David Herrero and Oscar L.

The song holds a lot of anticipation and excitement with its slow and gradual introduction of sounds and instruments, it will make you go crazy, and that’s how you know that the song is going to be good. The pace is slow but the music is somehow intense and invigorating, with also keeping a chill effect and some low-key sexiness to it. The overall sound of the song is dynamic and it feels like a thrilling trip. The musical arrangement is rich, with lots of the house genre clapping and one steady drum all the way. You’ve got playful cymbals shaking up the beat, dark and sexy drops in music, electrifying sound effects, and distorted female vocals. The artist is always teasing you on the beat. There is also a wide range of electronic percussion on the same wavelength in the music and is ever-changing with each segment in the music. The transitions are easy and very different, which makes you want to keep dancing and moving around. The song is great for movement.

The song is a slow-paced one but with jeans, fire beats the energy up in the sky. The reason Jean created this song is to express his feelings about struggling to find his identity, which is a big process in life that isn’t that easy. 0

Artist Jden Ray based in Tacoma, US released a rocking R&B EP that is an emotional vesicle into the ocean of relationships, love, and misfortunes. Relatable and completely coherent with his concept, this album will be your personal journey through some really great music. Dropped on the 21st of February, the EP is called ‘ Sorry in advance’. Ray started his musical journal at the age of 12 years, playing guitar. His influences include artists like Drake, Lauren Hill, and Bob Marley. This EP was recorded in his living room in Seattle.

Sorry in advance is like a big diary of personal reflections of Ray’s teenage love adventures, and how a person is usually sucked into the victim mentality at some point and wouldn’t accept blame for mistakes with lovers, and the healing or light at the end of the tunnel of acceptance. The concept is great and puts together the songs and even the song names very creatively. For instance, one of his songs is named after his ex-girlfriend’s apartment number. What’s ultimately great about this EP is that it takes you into the stages of the self through these relationships that are inevitable. You first are full of wrongdoings and toxicity, then you experience toxicity from others as you try to wriggle your way out of the darkness, and finally how you can see the light and accept your mistakes and past self, moving on to a better version of yourself.

First of all, it has to be said that the production of this EP is very high in quality. Every sound and rhythm just hits your soul like a giant wave. The overall sound of the EP is romantic, sensual, raw, and totally real. The honesty and vulnerability of Ray in his lyrics and the slow-paced, moody, and atmospheric R&B sound of the music will suck you into your own romance stories through his. The musical arrangement is dynamic and smooth. The melodies are sweet and romantic. The music feels so coherent in sound and content. The soundscapes are mostly slow R&B, with a backing sound of revered music and sounds. There is an ethereal, wavy, and warm feeling coming out of the music. The drums are minimal and soft, there is a magical xylophone and clapping sound effects and muffled acoustic guitar. There is a theme of muffled sound throughout the EP. There are occasional hard bass lines,  subtle piano effects, and humming tunes. You just can’t miss out on this amazing EP.

Marq Eleyronica based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, is going to release a sensational and intense taste of dance music in a track called ‘Nervous’, a storyline that will sweep your ears and heart into an ultimate mood of open and emotional expression of the body and the mind. Marq already established a great 200K streams on Spotify in such a short time since he started his musical career during the Covid lockdown. We’re so used to the monotone, repetitive dance music of today that seems to be made with little effort, something Marq is defying with his amazing ear and skill set.

An after-midnight treat to the soul, it’s best to imagine a scene with warm neon lights in a small, dark club in a big city, with nothing but the fire between you and your lover. Sour Grapes by Maya Yenn

0

Maya Yenn is unquestionably making noticeable ripples in the music industry. This new London-based artist has already amassed tens of thousands of Spotify streams, recorded BBC live sessions, and had a music video winning several awards in film festivals, so I was not surprised when I found out that her latest single is an expertly crafted piece of electronic pop with an attitude and a character that makes it hard to forget.

Sour Grapes is a sublimely produced, short banger. Clocking at a little less than 3 minutes long, this cut is shockingly full of nuanced detailings that it’d probably take a dozen listens or so to fully get the whole picture. With that being said, the song is not at all a hard-to-grasp mess. Quite the opposite, Sour Grapes’s strength is in its immediacy. With solid, hard-hitting beats, dramatic chord progressions full of grandeur and character, and of course Maya Yenn’s memorable vocal delivery, effortless and smooth, and her lyrics, endlessly relatable. The bass guitar in particular, is the secret weapon to Sour Grapes’s unerring drive and groove. A synthetic sub-bass, the line is dynamic and twisty, providing way more than it cares to loudly announce.

Sour Grapes is another winner in Maya Yenn’s ever-growing catalog of winning tracks. A mature and fun offering about the many humdrum pains and disappointments that come with adulthood, Sour Grapes is sure to last with listeners for way longer than its runtime.

Second Phase by Perttu Leinonen

0

A brand new release from a Finnish veteran of abstract drone and ambient electronic music that sees gentle layering of hazes and clouds hover above poignant poetry, narrating a dystopian tale of the cosmos.

Perttu Leinonen, a native of Mäntsälä, has been an active participant in his regional electronic music circles for more than 3 decades, putting an album after the other of consistently experimental, honest, and left-field music. His latest release is Second Phase, a collection of electronic poetry pieces that lean more heavily on the poetry side of the scale, with each of the pieces featuring primarily a piece of touching poetry that deals with topics of life, growth, healing, and hope. Written by collaborators such as Llana Aryas and Wise Observer, with additional poetry from longtime friend Jarkko Sairanen. The lyrical pieces are set on top of vast, cosmic drones. While the pieces are mostly devoid of conventional melody or harmony, this does not stop them from being poignant and introspective in their own way, often sounding eerie and alien, inducing a menacing sense of agoraphobia, and often more sounding hypnotic and engulfing, a note that owes thanks to the fantastic production on this release, which sounds crisp and cohesive with all its rich layers of droning, which never once sound clunky or unfit.

Perttu Leinonen is an album of gorgeous, hypnotic music that’s rich, confrontational, thought-provoking, and definitely not for everyone. But if you’re one of the few who can truly grasp the value of this release, then you’re in for a healthy trip of wellness, and musical puzzlement.

With personal lyrics about what one should be willing to give up in their chase for their dreams. The songwriting is emotive and accessible, and the production is crisp and punchy, but perhaps what’s most notable is Ferris’s soaring highs in the chorus, which are equally impressive and compelling. The dramatic drums are the touch that gives this song its operatic and dramatic lustre, sounding massive and full to the brim with an explosive personality.
