Stalin’s Lapel By Leon Flames

0

Leon Flames born in South London, United Kingdom is an independent Hip-Hop/Rapper who is also a Firefighter when he is not working on his music. Leon is known for his writing skills and raw delivery, he gives us a sneak peek of his double album ‘Kings Never Give Up’ that’s set to be released in 2023 with the single ‘Stalin’s Lapel’ released on 11/11/22.

The track is a poetic piece of art with no changes in the music or song progression which makes it a sort of medium where Leon showcases his poetry and flow backed by smooth lo-fi vibe music. “The song is one long verse without any chorus, which was designed intentionally to take the listener on a journey through the mind of a serial analyzer,” said Leon. While the name of the song is a metaphor for the Russian’s uniforms not having lapels, as Leon explains “The type of rhymes, metaphors, subject matter and cadence which I use is almost unseen in today’s musical scope.”

In Your Eyes by Kelly Phoenix

0

With a voice that can only be described as beautiful and bedazzling, LA-based singer Kelly Phoenix just released his new single entitled “In Your Eyes”. The song revolves around a simple acoustic guitar chord progression that pays a ton of homage to RnB and soft rock, making the song have a special taste and flare instead of going for a bland approach. The lyrics tell a beautiful story about longing for love and standing strong in the face of the regret that haunts a broken heart. It’s a thoughtful motive and the warm tone with which it is sung compliments it flawlessly.

Kelly has a rich baritone voice that makes every inch of your body shiver the moment you hear it. His vocals are mixed in to sound like a single strong layer that accentuates the clarity of his accent and how he enunciates his words sensationally and ethereally.

On the bridge of the song, you can feel Kelly’s strong belting technique aided by the guitar that’s beautifully played by his friend Mateo Barragan. This song was influenced by Barragan’s trip to Brasil and the Bossa Nova music he listened to, and fans of the genre will most definitely love this song as he succeeded in capturing that essence in this track.

Lolita by Dioneesus

Lolita is a sensual tapestry of airy vibes, passionate lyrics, and a unique personality.

Dioneesus is a Pittsburgh-based artist, who seems to thrive in the controversy that he generates with his multidisciplinary art. With bad press that he heralds with seeming pride, he knows it only increases the buzz around his name. Dioneesus’s music and production have a lot of merit and potential, but it’s definitely not without flaws.

Lolita displays that with precision. This slow burner is a sensual love song that blends storytelling and the commanding voice of Nanita Mahesh to create a compelling narrative that pulls you in. Couple this with the minimalistic composition, using 2 lone chords, a slow, sparse beat, and intense sub-bass, and you have a lot hanging on the vocal deliveries. It pleases me to say that Mahesh’s vocals are warm and present, knowing its boundaries and its no-gos, making her parts flow smoothly. Dioneesus’s part, on the other hand, does an unfortunate climb to an unreachable note near the end that sounds off-tune, killing the mood entirely. The total lack of autotune, while bold, is not the best decision. The song is already processed and full of electronic beats, a little vocal modding would have massively helped.

If Dioneesus is targeting the buzz that negative press brings, then his vocal part does this song a great disservice. If he wants to know what we truly think, then Lolita is incredibly sensual and vibey, but with its share of missed potential.

My Superstitions by Kelsey Blackstone

0

My Superstitions is such a unique blend of things. With a few glaring, high, highlights, like stars in a dark sky, it ends up with a sound that’s delightfully inviting.

The Boston-based singer/songwriter Kelsey Blackstone certainly has a knack for arranging fantastic music. With production from Gōst Pepper and the Grammy-nominated Nancy Conforti on the mastering duty, there’s nothing strange about the sound being this peppy, dynamic, and focused.

My Superstitions is, at its heart, a mix of Funk, Jazz, and Pop. Kelsey’s girly vocal delivery is present and outstanding, smooth as silk, and sweet as honey. The jangling beats and playful bass are full of a funky spazz, and a pair of sizzling,  Sax solos, with reasonable double tracking, rip through the mix like comets… dancing comets. The words are witty, talk of Kelsey wanting to start a particular new romance, but also scared from heartbreak, looking inward for her superstitions, willing guiding signs to appear in her way. Poppy delight.

Kelsey’s sound is fresh and exciting. Her songwriting is dynamic and her voice is outstanding. My Superstitions is a one-of-a-kind blend of things, done beautifully.

Direct, quick-hitting Pop that’s careless and sincere is a true blessing. ‘There’ is a bright love song that puts aside the usual romantic side of things in favor of another love that’s just as potent and as effective, a strong friendship.

Amelia’s voice is warm and accommodating. Her sound has a direct appeal and induces a comfortable feel instantly. The words are heartfelt and simple. Loyal friends are the most important ones in life, and without them, a person will be exposed and unsheltered from much more of the hardships that life carries. Amelia’s voice is backed by a bubbly band sound, with tight drums, a simple and efficient bassline, a commandeering strummed acoustic, and a gentle piano in charge of delivering the syrupy chords which sound familiar and easy.

‘There’ is about friends who are always there. A simple Pop tune that has a solid, organic band sound. Full of fantastic, effortless performances and earnest displays of restrained musicianship. There is a sweet, honest song, with a hearty message, and a beautiful sound.

Big Life by Jane Leo

As they prepare for their self-titled debut record that’ll be out via MARS Label Group, the rocking duo Jane Leo dropped their latest single “Big Life” on the 20th of October, 2022. “Big Life” shows Jan Leo’s energy and how they can fuse their influences into something unique, pushing Jane Ellen Bryant and Daniel Leopold‘s collaboration even further. Let me tell you more about it.

Jane Leo kickstarts “Big Life” with a retro 80s intro and confident vibes that matches the song’s attitude. Its playful groovy fat bass, melodic keys, subtle guitars, and smoothly progressing vocal melody, projects loads of energy and uplifting vibes. The diverse vocal delivery was impressive, with changes and harmonies at the perfect timing, spicing things up and giving the listener an extremely expressive experience. “Big Life” has a smoothly dynamic structure that makes each and every instrumental contribution count, from the groovy crunchy bass to the vocal melody’s arrangement and synth, guitar, and keys melodies writing.

“Big Life” has a smooth ramp progression, it just keeps getting bigger and catchier as it goes until it takes over control making you put it on repeat. Jane Leo approached this with full force, flexing their songwriting abilities and great sense of mood and melody, and showing their diversely creative direction. I will definitely be keeping an eye on Jane Leo, looking forward to more, cheers!

“The best thing is to take Beware Wolves by the hand and follow him in his musical universe without asking too many questions. He will guide you to discover yourself.” Edgar Allan Poets – Beware Wolves Volume 3

Beware Wolves “An Anthology continued…”

0

Beware Wolves, the mysterious artist with an ingenious streak, raw vocals, and remarkable songwriting skills. As a continuation of his previous five volumes, the artist continues his winning streak of conceptual lyrics and impeccable music by releasing 4 more volumes with 9 tracks each.

The same conceptual approach and visual interpretation of the artwork’s symbols continue, reaching the final complex symbol that will leave you lost in ruminations.

“The way a songwriter’s mind functions, there are a lot of ideas that rummage through one’s mind the deeper they get into their musical philosophy; the kind of person they are to the world, what they’re feeling at that very moment, and so on, more often than not, directly influence what they end up writing at that moment in time.” – Beware Wolves Vol 6 album review by Mohit Bagur on Sinusoidal Music

“The kind of collection Vol 6: Beware Wolves is, is the kind that’s akin to how a creative mind truly looks when they write music– before the industry, questions of societal acceptance or lack thereof, chart performances, none of that mumbo jumbo. Over the course of my listens and re-listens of this album, I connected with why I became a musician in the first place– to feel my craft– to derive my dopamine from translating my thoughts into a medium.”Beware Wolves Vol 6 album review by Mohit Bagur on Sinusoidal Music

Beware Wolves’ formula is truly simple and approachable. Bold and admirable. He writes songs, based mostly on an acoustic guitar, then he writes words to go along with the music, then he runs the recorder and captures those ideas, right then and there, in one take most of the time, with inconsistencies and imperfections as essential parts of those performances.Moataz Gwaily from Sistra on Volume 5

Beware Wolves “The Five Phases of the Moon” A Journey to Enlightenment

0

Beware Wolves; a mysterious artist with an ingenious streak, raw vocals, and remarkable songwriting skills.

For the first time in the music industry’s history (at least the modern one), Beware Wolves released nine volumes of 81 tracks in total, in less than 30 days.

The singer/songwriter started releasing his anthology on August 3rd, with a new volume following it every three days. Each of the first 5 volumes has a total of 9 tracks that vary in duration, except for the 5th that has a total of 11 tracks. The acoustic-driven themed music lures its listeners to a journey of questioning and exploration.

“An album full of strong songs, on their own, but together, in that order, it has an unstable momentum that puts pressure on the remaining volumes to correct the trajectory.” Moataz Gwaily from Sistra on Volume 5

The artist reflects best on his music through the albums’ artworks that show the different phases of the moon; starting with total darkness in volume one till it reaches a full moon in the 5th volume. He chooses conceptual and visual interpretation through the signs on the artwork that build up to reach its final form of completion.

“This music travels without borders with the wind and brings with it infinite melodies that are lost in the universal energy that connects all human beings. Beware Wolves does not compose, he lets himself be carried away by instinct, by the primordial voice that screams within his soul.” Edgar Allan Poets – Beware Wolves Volume 3

Beware Wolves “The Mystery behind an Anthology”

0

No, it’s not a collection of poems or writings; neither is it a collection of songs in one album, but rather a collection of albums released consecutively within one month. For the first time in the music industry’s history (at least the modern one), Beware Wolves released 9 volumes of acoustic tracks, each with an average of nine songs. The first volume was released on August 3rd this summer, while the 9th volume was released on the 31st of the same month. Some might call it crazy; others might see it as unnecessary, but one thing for a fact; it requires an ingenious streak, which Beware Wolvesobviously possess.

RAW, emotional, REAL, and sincere are only a few words that describe Beware Wolves’ music.

Brace yourselves for a journey where the artist will push you, provoke you, and leave you with more questions than before.
