0

R&B artist Elion Melody based in New York, USA dropped a firey and emotional single ‘Make it whistle’’, on the 30th of September. It’s a collaboration with three friends aboard from three major cities. Eric Matthys from Los Angeles, Elion Melody from New York City, and DILAN from London. Elion is a multi-stylistic artist who sings from his soul and displays vulnerability effortlessly. He also has an accumulation of 1.2 million plays on Spotify since his debut EP release in 2022.

Make it whistle is a classic R&B song with a slow and romantic rhythm and a soft melody. The song talks about sensuality and love; loving your partner’s skin, body, and bones, and treating them right the way they deserve. It’s a song that makes you instantly fantasize about your special person. The vocals are soft and smooth. The musical arrangement is simple and the beat is well synchronized with the syllables in the words. There is a good bassline and a notable sound is the whistle loop that creates a special effect in the song with lyrics. The fun fact about this loop is that Elion recorded it while he had Covid. Elion is inspired by artists such as Drake and Young thug. This song is an emotional journey you don’t want to miss!

Merry Go Round by Frank Rabeyrolles

0

A new single has been released by artist Frank Rabeyrolles called  ‘Merry go round’’. A song that is transcending from Montpelier, France on the 10th of October, expect a nostalgic soft rock feeling as you listen to this track. The song is already uploaded on his youtube with a serene, grainy video of a wide open green space, matching the empty yet dense feeling of the song. Frank Rabeyrolless, released his first album under his real name in 2011, and since then he has been prolifically creating great music between experimental pop and folk lo-fi, making him a really special addition to the french scene since 2004.

The song covers feelings of the void, existence, and how things may have used to be in the past. It gets all nostalgic, as he uses the merry-go-round as the main subject of the song, a symbol of childhood, and simpler times. This artist is known for bittersweet ballads and somewhat dark music, getting into a wide range of the more intense side of the human emotional spectrum. The song almost gave me a grunge feeling of the 90s, with a very melancholic guitar starting and diving into a more intense guitar. Drums and cymbals are usually soft, which matches the soft and low-pitched vocals. A notable sound in the song is a lightly distorted guitar at the back of the song, giving it an edge. The song is a real zone out from the world, something you’d listen to as you watch raindrops falling on your window.

Album: Other Words For Dusk by Sotoyoto

0

The multi-instrumentalist, Uk based; Sotoyoto’s album ‘Other words for dusk’ released on the 22nd of august, the summer of 2021, is a mystical ride into other realms through a 40-minute sonic experience. Composed of 10 tracks, this album is an electronic genre and to be more specific, the ambient dark kind. With this album, all you need to do is press the first track and let it reach the 10th one swiftly, like a record player. Sotoyoto is particularly interested in sound as a concept that is yet to reveal much more than what is on the surface. He is driven by the desire to make listening experiences special and enriching. There is a world of sound, stop hearing and start listening, says Sotoyoto, which is the goal behind the making of this album and what he hoped to deliver.

With not much time to make music as a filmmaker, this album was created accidentally. The overall sound of the album is hypnotic and dark, as it comes to the end. The name of the album sets a theme; referring to “Dusk” which is the period between complete darkness and the sunset; when the earth is covered in shadows, but beautified by the distant pink and yellow colors of the sky. Each track is slow-burning, with not much complicated musical arrangement. It is just Sotoyoto playing with different sounds. It seems that most of the 6 tracks have a common first layer of the same slow and trance-like sound, and then the second layer of sound would be something that sets a different melody, hence the jumble of emotions felt in every minute of listening. You feel that as the song order passes you are just smoothly transitioning into another feeling.

The names of the songs are very special in the order they are put, like’’ mystical redemption’’  and ‘’ghost in the gong’’. They are all things that speak of what you cannot see, only feel. In the songs at the end starting with the 7th, Haikub starts setting a different tone to the music, one that is suspenseful, darker with more drums, cymbals, and string instruments playing repeated melodies. Notable sounds used would be echoes and a very heavy and distant trumpet as if you are being called by mystical forces from beyond. Signifying beauty and terror with the idea of dusk; the album encourages spiritual endeavors, one that requires separating from what is known, and slowly descending deeper into what is not known or seen, only felt. Disconnect and imagine a landscape of dark woods and a sunset sky as you listen to this spiritful artwork.

Trust feat.Cherry Morris by Matt the Vessel

0

Christchurch, UK-based rising music producer Matt the Vessel put his soul into the audio interface world with his newest single, ‘Trust’ featuring Vocalist Chris Morris, making it one of the many remarkable musical creations by the artist.

It is no wonder that Matt succeeded in delivering such a cool musical beat perfect for that car ride along the night city skyline in his latest track, given his newfound determination to leave his mark in the music field. To ensure that, he worked alongside the mixing engineer Geof Swan, known for his previous work with Anne Marie and Charlie xcx. Although this song was delayed for 4 years, it was worth the wait as it radiates energy through its beats like no other.

The overall outlook once you listen; is an enlivening electric pop song that feels sweet and intense as the vocalist sings about his trust issues with his loved one in a relatively upbeat mood. The rhythm is catchy and makes you want to dance, with a visible house music element that makes the song extra special from a pop point of view. The musical instruments arrangement includes many altogether with a smooth base, a drumline that matches the quick tempo, electronic sounds that shift the track from high to low towards the end, and notable altered voices made to a separate tune at the back of the song revving up the intensity of the track. Check out this song if you really want to enjoy something in full-blast mode!!

Album: City Lights by Sharl

0

Thriving and shining female artist Sharl from Melbourne, Australia released a dazzling album ‘’City Lights’’ on the 26 of August. Sharl is an independent artist who crafted this album during the lockdown. Simmering past experiences in this time, she cooked up this album tastefully, sharing her rawest feelings and deepest sadness and frustrations over falling in love with the wrong person. But don’t worry, Sharl makes sure that we see the glamour of the city lights in the dark at the end of the heartbreak.

“City Lights” is a compilation of 10 pop songs about the dangers of toxic, failed love and the struggle of going through it all. What is head-turning about Sharl’s version of pop music is how it is composed differently than the noisy, overly stimulating, and joyous pop we’re used to.  The album’s overall sound is a mix of classic sounds and trendy tunes; in a more specific sense, it has classic ballads and vintage disco vibes.

Sharl takes you through the confrontation of the toxic love with intense tunes and then descends into the heart-wrenching and lonely emotions of becoming single again after departing from a love that didn’t work out. The music and beats of the songs match each emotion lyrically conveyed along with the melancholic piano melodies and striking drums. Sharl flaunts her vocals in a determined manner and isn’t afraid to use her high pitch sounds to move the song much more rhythmically and emotionally. The sadder songs have beautiful melodies that captivate you. The lyrics are so straightforward, the storytelling is crystal clear, and you feel like you are listening to an inner dialogue of somebody who is aching from a breakup, even speaking of hopelessness and imaginary scenarios of heartfelt words to the person who has been lost.

The order of songs starts with intense music that talks about deception with ‘’I fell in love’’, ‘’games’’ and then ‘’without me’’. We reach loneliness after that and some forms of regretful feelings of exchanging love that ended up nowhere, with really sad, slow rhythm music for almost 5 tracks. The album then ends with a much more accepting tone to the situation in ‘’city lights’’, as Sharl wonders where her old love is and if she ever crosses his mind, maybe remembering their love beneath the night sky, the busy city filling all the loneliness she feels without him. This album is so real and intense, you will get soaked up in some tears from the heart.

Ida’s Room by Beth Duke

0

A sentimental drive through the night in a 70’s Dodge Challenger on a deserted road while only stars shining down brightening up the road while the moon is a giant disco ball.

The Australian rising pop star Beth Duke releases her debut EP titled “Ida’s Room” in an Electro-Pop themed genre using Keys & Synths in a skilled manner casting playful, yet sad tunes.

Ida’s Room” begins with ‘Moth’ with a video game’s loading theme intro opening the entrance door to Ida’s Room.

The record is of high quality and sounds seem in tune and shape; having some catchy melodies and choruses enhancing the engagement with the beat drops.

Sometimes the electro-melodies sound a bit out of sync or on a different time signature other than the drums and seem to get out of the overall rail.

Their vocal capabilities of Beth are much like pop stars, it made me feel like this is the next Lady Gaga, in spite of not going on higher notes. But the vocals were so expressive as it sounded broken and desperate, yet hopeful and that is what the whole EP is about; overcoming hardships and breathing in life as Beth stated: “Each song talks about the hardships of life and perfectly translates difficult subject matter into rich, vibrant pop.

Listen to “Ida’s Room” and tell us who’s knocking!

Peaceful Monkey by Mojo X

0

On the 28th of September, the Brinton-based producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist Mojo X released their newest super funky track “peaceful monkey”. Mojo is again rocking the scene with the 2000’s pop-punk musical beats, sending the fans on a ride full of electronic beats along with the dancing irresistible tempo.

The super energetic beats of peaceful monkey probably came from the bustle monkeys that lay inside the Mojo x’s hearts specifically while playing some of Ableton beatbox samples from which the central loop was generated and continually evolving, as for the peaceful monkey that appears on the track’s artwork and the first 2 shocking seconds of the music, it seems to be a call for the fans’ inner bustle monkeys to get some energetic monkey-suitable vibes.

Peaceful monkey is a part of a new series of tracks that is centralized around the Chinese tea saga where all the mysteries of the very rich Chinese culture are connected starting from arts and ending with the philosophy of Taoism, mixed in a way that brings together the electronic beats of Mojo X with the Chinese musical instruments that were so clear in mojo’s “Oolong”, taking Mojo’s fans into one of the rarest musical experiences.

Although the previous productions of Mojo X have already grabbed attention leading their tracks to be featured on voice FM Southampton and the BBC that aired “Jasmine”, “Want me” and of course “Move your body”. The newest theme of the Mojo x music series seems to be the new attention grabber.

In this way, the rest of the Chinese theme tracks of the series would be odd and create different-from other tracks on the scene vibes. This is what pop-punk fans are curious about right now!

All I Ever Do by Robbee

0

London-based Pop song maker Robbee has yet again bedazzled us with a fun and upbeat song ‘All I ever do’’ on the 23rd of September.

Produced by Clem Cherry, this pop song is full of energy, giving us an easy radio hit. The idea revolves around a universal subject of going back to an ex, and how risky and wrong it is. So even though the lyrics tell the story of an incident like this, the song’s positive tone suggests a happy mood overall.

The artist himself said that he wants people to be able to feel that this is a funny situation conjuring some laughs or ooppsies. The musical arrangement is of full range, with a very fast rhythm, a catchy chorus, a lot of drums, and notable fun sounds like phone and doorbell ringing.

In addition to that, there is also a cool robotic echo repeating the lyrics of the vocals. This beat invites you to dance and lighten up when you think of your EX’s mistakes!

Behind by Naomi Cheyanne

0

Long Beach, US-based rising female artist, Naomi Cheyanne releases a new song ‘’Behind’’, on the 29th of September, flexing some real musical talent as she uses her voice beautifully, making this song a real gem and a lead to what we can expect from her to achieve as an artist.

This song falls under the alternative pop genre with R&B tunes that makes you want to listen to it on repeat.

Using a high-quality cinematic music video, Naomi catches our attention in every artistic aspect of this song. She tells the story of a young girl experimenting and facing new beginnings and overcoming challenges which seems like a breakup from the video, but the mood of the song suggests this feeling is universal to anything, not just relationships, by leaving it all ‘’behind’ and going somewhere new. We’re all in for the triumph in her angelic voice. The musical arrangement is simple yet catchy, with the song begging with a mellow guitar combination.

Notable sounds would be the clapping that adds a head-bopping rhythm to the beat. The melody is so warm which regarding the subject of the song makes you feel like everything is going to be okay. There is so much waiting ahead for Naomi, she has been prolifically proving herself in the music industry, especially with this song as her greatest musical achievement until now.
