Omolola (Anita) by John Alone

0

We live in a high-pace era where everyone has got to move fast and produce more to keep up. Especially in industries where your progress is seen, like entertainment, and if you did vanish for a while, you’ve got to make a hell of a return. The London-based alternative R&B musician, John Alone, obviously knows that, and that’s why, after a musical hiatus, he’s making a solid comeback with his pumping hit, “Omolola (Anita).”

“Omolola (Anita)” is a song that has an R&B, Rap, and Pop fusion with an Amapiano influence. I have to admit that, at first, I was a little puzzled. I didn’t like it or hate it. It was just unusual to me, but soon enough, it started to grow on me, and it didn’t take long for me to vibe in with its uplifting beat and compulsive sound.

Right from the start, the drumline in the African style makes one nod their heads and get hyped with the chirpy atmosphere. Throughout the single, all the elements smoothly flow together to create an explosive yet somehow delicate banger. And mixing R&B with a rap-ish performance makes it more dynamic, and the Amapiano ambiance gives it authenticity.

John’s charismatic, airy vocals tempt one to learn the lyrics and engage for more mood-boosting. His voice is as vibrant as the rhythms and has a sentimental tone that conveys the affection that the lyrics hold.

Even the lyrical theme is genuine. It’s not a rare subject; it’s another love song about finally finding the right one but starting from the song’s title and passing by each verse, the distinct writing style, and interesting word choices give a feeling that it’s your first time hearing a love song.

“Omolola (Anita) is only a glimpse of John’s capabilities in the arena of diversity, ready to hit the airwaves.” So, if this fiery track is just a sneak peek, how many more abilities can the skilled artist unleash?

Just the Touch of My Hands by Ninni

0

Just what does happiness sound like, on a sunny day, with folks out on the street, singing for a new day full of wonder and hope? Ninni seems to have found something very close to the answer.

Ninni is a Naples, Italy-based musician and multi-instrumentalist who’s exploring virtually uncharted territories by himself on this release. A cute doo-wop tune, all with barbershop quartet vocals, finger snaps, and choral vocals, the whole bunch! The sounds are incredibly warm and earthy, the mix is intimate and relatively quiet. The vocals are shaky and vulnerable in a relatable way. The backing vocals are jumpy, rhythmic, and very vintage sounding. The percussion is entirely delivered courtesy of jubilant finger snaps. A sound that’s equally summery, intimate, joyous, and familiar.

Ninni seems to have dialed in an ancient formula and managed to pull off something that’s familiar and sweet and truly capable of bringing joy. Simple, Efficient, and heartfelt.

Beautiful by Blair Djuna

Derrick Attwood, an Australian singer-songwriter known as Blair Djuna, has a talent for making his songs simple. When I was listening to his new single and third masterpiece “Beautiful”, it took me on a 3-minute 35-second journey into the depths of the soul.

“Beautiful” is a song that melts in with its beauty, gentleness, and softness of voice, a romantic dream that slowly opens your heart rhythmically with piano keys and exquisite arrangements that gently pull your soul out of your body.

Djuna’s performance is so intimate that it rises to the level of a beautiful vocal melody. Each sentence creates a strong emotion in the listener. This song is a love cloud filled with torrents of feelings that magically overwhelm you.

Djuna gives the lyrics important spaces with the melody, its composition is woven with the threads of love and romantic feelings. Through it, you can see loved ones everywhere, as it is a gift that the artist gives to his fans because art is honest when it reflects real life and we see ourselves through it.

Djuna struggles with fatigue as he sees lovers turning into strangers. He agonizes and rethinks because he knows nothing gets better by going back to what hurts him. He looks at his picture and wonders how can I be beautiful if I can’t keep the people I love. He discovers that it stems from the fact that he has failed to love himself wholeheartedly.

Djuna succeeded in throwing his piece “Beautiful” into your sea of feelings to move it and lovingly give us a second chance, his ingenuity gave him the confidence to experiment with his voice and push it to the invisible limits within us, so you will enjoy everything he sings to you.

“1punch.” Savage takes him to new territory as he reveals a self-aware artist with a mastery of storytelling, who retains a refined flair for melody through which he creates undeniable auditory powers.

There are times when you need music to unleash it and go with it, that’s what you’ll find in “1punch.” Its heavy, intense beats blending rap with a few shouts of rock, make you sway to the sound and let out a shriek of pent-up frustration. “1punch.” His name seems to be inspired by the blows Savage takes him screaming at the top of his voice, and the words collected while he’s driving come out that let you get everything off your chest and feel free.

IreQ Savage sings emotionally and conveys everything he thinks through his words and hides nothing. His style of performance is authentic and expressive and we find him screaming, challenging, and driving the adrenaline in our thoughts to rearrange them.

Glisten (interactive performance) by ANTimus Prime

Not the type of Hip-Hop we hear much nowadays, despite the personal affection the track holds, it seems a lot more relatable to our lives.

Hailing from Apex, North Carolina, ANTimus Prime aka ‘King ANT’ releasing a promotional visualizer to his EP ‘Fair Warning’ titled ‘Glisten’.

The track begins with an orchestral theme along with African percussion, which threw me back hard to Terence Blanchard’s main theme in the ‘25th Hour’ movie where I thought that the beat might be inspired by the movie’s main theme.

Along the cool beat melodies, rush in a calm and smooth heavy flow with organized rhymes and is in control of the pace with his delicate vocabularies and rhymes.

Glisten’ is lyrically an honest and straightforward track, raising controversy in a truthful, realistic context with an attitude of rebellious dissatisfaction while most of today’s rappers just be flexing or dissing, and I liked how the rapper included most of the family members through his lyrics and how he displayed them in the track left a somewhat relatable personal affectionate to specific family members yet unaffectionate to other members.

I guess J.Cole and DaBaby should care cause competition will be fierce when ANTimus Prime ‘Glistens’ on the stages of North Carolina.

All I Want by Echo & Bloom

0

After a hiatus, the duo Echo & Bloom are back with “All I Want,” a single that gathers summer and winter vibes with its both fresh and warm ambiance.

Tayla Thomas and Mat Dwyer are the Melbourne-based Indie Pop duo known as Echo & Bloom. They have a hypnotic Dream Pop sound that elevates the mood.

“All I Want” starts with the perfect use of the electric element that creates a mellow, dreamy intro that instantly puts a smile on one’s face. Tayla has such a silky, cheerful voice with a peaceful, cozy effect, and although she’s the vocalist here and Mat is the producer, his backing vocals add softness and lightness. Their vocal lines together have an affectionate harmony that makes each line in the lyrics honest.

Vocals, lyrics, rhythms, arrangement, and production all build a vibrant atmosphere. Even the artwork sends one’s mind to a better place. The chorus is addictive and urges you to mumble along. The short solo part bursts with more energy, and as the single is coming to an end, it sets an outro that matches the intro: serene and joyful.

This is just a glimpse of what to wait for. “All I Want” is part of the upcoming EP, “Colours in Motion.” And for now, I know that we should expect colors, warmth, and delight.

What’s made with passion delivers passion. Close your eyes and sway to the “All I Want” melodies, letting them take you to where you truly desire.

Later by Sealy Troh

The heart skips a beat, the stomach aches, the mind goes dreamy, and one has a euphoric aura. That’s mainly what happens when one is emotionally attracted to someone, and their eyes rain affection and their lips unconsciously smile whenever they see them. Sealy Troh’s “Later” captures how it feels to have a crush on someone with his dope beats.

Hip-hop love songs have a different flavor than love songs from other genres. The Los Angeles-based musician, Sealy Troh, nailed cooking that sweet taste in his banger, “Later.” It has everything it takes to be a hit: sentimental lyrics, popping beats, layered, playful vocals, and Infinite1ne’s production that makes all of the elements stand out.

Humans’ emotions are never stable; they vary, change, and shrink or grow. Sealy described them best in his line, “It’s a crazy ride, it’s a rollercoaster.” And when you’re captivated by someone, you get an emotion shake in your heart that you get addicted to its flavor and think, “She’s the only one that I can’t get over.”

The single is driven by catchy hooks that hypnotize one to dance, just as love does. Also, the energy of the track matches the feelings it portrays, and that showcases Sealy’s musicianship and proves that he’s going by his words, “Rapping is a do-it-yourself genre. If your lines or lyrics are weak then that’s on you. I wanted something that made me responsible for who I am. Where I could rely on myself to show up.”

“Later” is an easy-listening song to sing along to, vibe to, dance to, and relate to. Sealy Troh is a genuine artist who builds his artistic identity based on what he believes and cares to use his charismatic vocals and creative lyrics to deliver explicitly and brighten up songs, like “Later,” so everyone can enjoy them.
